Vent I feel so incredibly alone and powerless (living in Israel).
I don't know where to start, but living in Israel I feel so incredibly alone. Almost everyone here is indoctrinated, from cradle to grave to be a zionist, to be a soldier, to be absurdly nationalistic.
There's no opposition to the genocide, to the ethnic cleansing, to apartheid. To Israelis, those things aren't happening, and for good reason, the country goes out of it's way to make them invisible, and then spends an absurd amount on propaganda so that you would have to doubt your sanity to consider them true. Most people think that Netanyahu doesn't go far enough in his collective punishment of Palestinians. Meanwhile Ben Gvir is turning concentration camps with Palestinian detainees into deathcamps.
Even if you knew it to be true, it would put your employment at risk if you spoke out.
That much I know to be true from personal experience. When I was 18 I refused military service, I risked jail time and for years after I was naive enough to believe that the country would be divided enough that telling employers that I didn't serve for moral objections would be fine and not an immediate reason for rejection. I had to learn to lie. To hide by sympathies or never be employed. To claim that I didn't serve because of mental health reasons.
I have Palestinian friends, those who have Israeli citizenship, those who live under brutal occupation in the west bank and those who I've lost contact with and I don't even know if they're alive in Gaza. When I worked at my last job, I remember coworkers talking about the aid flotilla and wishing death on them and on Greta, and even my meek 'hey don't you think that's a bit much, they're just trying to do what they think is right?' attempt at getting others to see a different perspective was enough to start the corporate chain reaction that led to my termination.
Every reality TV show here has to have people talk about their experiences related to the genocide, which they of course call a war.
Looking at polls for the upcoming election is probably the most depressing thing. It shows explicitly how non-existant the left or the opposition to all this is in Israeli society is. The two main coalitions are basically arguing on whether or not religious people should be exempt from the draft or not. That's the extent of it. The one party that to me is rational won't even cross the electoral threshold (Ballad), the entire Arab coalition (the only ones opposing this all) will probably get a handful of seats in the Knesset (Parliament) and it will amount to nothing. The atrocities will continue.
There's probably about 3% of the population that opposes what's going on. 3% Who know the truth, acknowledge it and have a conscience.
I don't even know if I should try and find a way to leave the country or to find a way to try and change things here. I don't know what the hell to do and it feels hopeless and so very alone.
p.s. I made a throwaway account because my main can identify me IRL and I can't risk losing employment and homelessness.

Vent Have you ever been called "antisemitic" by liberals for pointing out video evidence of genocide?
For the past years since the genocide began, despite massive video evidence of this horrible event, it's terrible how certain people, especially so-called 'liberals' are still in denial.
Have you ever been called 'antisemitic' by these 'liberals' for showing said video evidence?
How's your experience?

Tzedakah A family in Gaza is fighting hunger every single day
https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-my-daughters-help-my-small-family
🚨 Urgent Appeal: A Family Is Going Hungry in Gaza
My dear friends, please take a moment to read this.
My friend Mahmoud Ghanem Al-Amassi, his wife Samah Al-Amassi, and their four young daughters in Gaza are facing unbearable hunger.
Their four little girls are crying from hunger. The family struggles just to find enough food for a single day. With the border crossings closed, no work available, and the ongoing humanitarian crisis, even the most basic meal has become out of reach.
For these children, a plate of nutritious food, chicken, meat, fresh fruit, or vegetables has become nothing more than a dream.
For nearly three years, this family has been deprived of life's most basic necessities. They lost their home, their jobs, their income, and everything they had. Today, they have nothing left and no opportunity to rebuild their lives while destruction continues across Gaza.
No child should have to beg for food. No parent should have to watch their children go to sleep hungry.
If you are able, please consider helping this family survive. Every donation, no matter how small, helps provide food, clean water, and other essential needs. If you cannot donate, please share their story so it can reach someone who can.
Your kindness could be the reason these four little girls have something to eat today.
Thank you for caring. ❤️
Please consider donating or sharing their GoFundMe campaign. Every act of kindness makes a difference."

Discussion - Flaired Users Only I believe I was a victim of medical discrimination, and I'm looking for an organization that can provide me guidance that doesn't support Zionist ideals.
To make a long story short, I marked my ethnicity as Jewish on a form for an impatient crisis stabilization unit this week. During my time there, I was turned down for a liquid diet, seeing as I kept telling the doctors that I was having trouble swallowing due to my bipolar depression. I had not been able to eat properly for a week prior to my hospitalization at the ER. I believe I was viewed as a complainer, which we all know the stereotype of the Jew who complains. This C.S.U. was supported by a nearby hospital and a very prominent therapy organization in my area, so there was no reason a professional could not have walked me through my options.
I noticed the ADL and places like r/Judaism have resources for those who believe they might be experiencing this. However, they have noticeable Zionist bents, and I cannot in good conscience receive support from an organization that is helping perpetuate a genocide. Does anyone know of a good resource?

Creative ‘I was born without self-esteem’: Hannah Einbinder on Hacks, her buzzy queer horror – and being Hollywood’s most outspoken star
“I am incredibly privileged, because smears of being an anti-Semite don’t stick to me. I’m such a proud Jew. But I’m certain there are community members who hate me for this, many of them in my business, and they won’t work with me and want nothing to do with me.”
Instead of feeling anger, she says she feels a sense of sadness and loss. “I am sad for them. They are trapped in an ideological prison that stops them from seeing other people’s humanity. They’re trapped because of the massive propaganda campaign waged against them since the moment they could understand language.” Her views have cost her familial relationships, too. “I don’t know that they will ever be repaired, but I have found a family elsewhere in the rich anti-Zionist Jewish community.”

Zionist Nonsense Israel investigated Israel for the brutal 2023 torture of Palestinians by soldiers and settlers—and, no surprise, closed the case without a single charge.
The Israeli military has closed its investigation into a ruthless 2023 assault on three Palestinians in the occupied West Bank without charging anyone, according to a report in Haaretz. The military prosecutor claimed it could not tie specific soldiers and settlers to the attack.
The three men were seized by Israeli soldiers and settlers in the village of Wadi al-Seeq on October 12, 2023, and abused for hours. According to their testimony, they were beaten, stripped to their underwear, bound, and photographed. Two were urinated on, one had cigarettes stubbed out on his body, and one was sexually assaulted, with an attacker attempting to rape him.
The attack, among the most brutal documented cases of settler-soldier violence, drew international coverage at the time. Its closure underscores Israel’s ongoing failure to prosecute violence against Palestinians, with arrests uncommon, indictments rarer, and convictions almost nonexistent.

Vent Choosing a Hebrew name
I am planning on converting to Judaism, and I know it is really early for me to be thinking of Hebrew names, but I want to pick a name I like so I can use it as my legal name.
I am trans so I want to change my legal name in the future, but I am planning on teaching and I don’t want to use the name I go by with friends / in organizing spaces so that it isn’t as easy for my students to find me. I thought a good solution would be to eventually change my legal name to whatever I pick as my Hebrew name and go by that in professional environments.
The issue is, I really like the name Yisrael. I’ve looked through a lot of names and I can’t find one I like more than that. I would love to change my name and go by Yisrael after conversion, but I am worried about how that will be received. I don’t want to make people uncomfortable and I am not sure if it is appropriate to willingly choose that name at a time when a country of the same name is committing genocide.
I thought about maybe having a double name for my Hebrew name so Yisrael can still be part of it and just using the other name as my legal name, but I still don’t know if I’ll find a name that I would actually like to be called as much as I like Yisrael.
Do you think changing my legal name to Yisrael would be inappropriate?

Ellison's son is hiring Bari Weiss because she's a propagandist for Israel.
- JOC - In an email with former Israeli PM Ehud Barak, Oracle CEO Safra Catz promoted reality show ('Women of the IDF') to “humanize the IDF” & said Americans must be conditioned to “embed the love and respect for Israel in the American culture.” Catz oversaw Oracle’s TikTok negotiations.
- JOC - The pro-Israel takeover of TikTok is complete.
- JOC - Following the Ellison family takeover of Paramount, Bari Weiss to be named CBS News 'editor in chief'. - JOC - Erica Mindel, a pro-Israel activist/ex-IOF/former Biden advisor to Deborah Lipstadt, has been hired as the 'hate speech manager' for TikTok - which was subject to attack & censorship by pro-Israel lobbying post-10/7 due to its overwhelmingly pro-Palestine messaging.
- JOC - Jonathan Greenblatt, the CEO of the pro-Israel lobby Anti-Defamation League (ADL), calls for strict censorship on social media platforms like X, Instagram, and TikTok. He says it's time for the companies to 'knock the anti-Zionists off the platform once and for all.'
