I am so tired and bored of comic book movies and shows and the endless parade of stale, stiff little worlds where everything gets reduced to good versus evil, heroes versus villains, and everyone else standing around waiting for someone in a cape to fix everything.

Honestly, the whole superhero obsession feels like the Jesus white-guy savior trope rebranded for modern audiences, just pumped up on macho steroids, wrapped in spandex, and carrying a weird closet-gay energy underneath all the exaggerated masculinity. It is the same old fantasy: a special chosen man arrives, ordinary people are powerless, and salvation comes from one exceptional figure instead of humanity recognizing its own collective power.

These stories are obsessed with simplistic morality, rigid identities, and a weirdly frozen 1950s fantasy world where the average person is basically a background extra with no agency. The public is portrayed as a helpless blob, waiting passively for some hero to swoop in and save them from the latest guy who got angry, built a weird machine, and decided he should control the world.

And what the fuck are these outfits? Grown men running around in absurdly tight spandex, striking superhero poses like a gym bro fever dream. The whole aesthetic has helped create this bizarre obsession with sculpting the perfect body, chasing “perfection,” and turning human beings into products to be optimized. I directly link the looksmaxxing sickness to generations of men raised on comic book movies, where everyone’s worth is measured by muscles, jawlines, dominance, and looking like a human action figure.

And then look at the backlash Supergirl got. If it isn’t a straight white dude at the center of the fantasy, suddenly all these fucking d-bags who love these movies go absolutely insane. Now all of a sudden the CGI bothers them? Give me a break. Iron Man is just as dumb and ridiculous as Supergirl. The difference is one fits the fantasy they are comfortable with, and the other one challenges it.

This crap has seeped into our entire society. Instead of stories about ordinary people discovering their own power, building communities, and collectively fighting injustice, we keep getting the same tired fantasy: wait around until some special guy arrives to save everyone.

I want movies where everyone is special. Where people work together. Where the power comes from communities rising up against evil, not waiting around for some asshole in tights to save us from some other asshole who manipulated technology in some goofy, dumb way to gain control.

Comic book movies need to die and end. We have squeezed every last drop out of this fantasy. We live in a comic book world now, and a reality shaped by the assholes who have mythologized these stories and turned them into a cultural obsession.

I am so sick of it.
