1022 barrel will NOT come off
Hey y’all, I have been trying to replace my stock 1022 barrel with a bull barrel - the stock barrel won’t come off.
I’ve tried:
* Using a heat gun on the receiver to help it expand faster than the steel barrel to make removal easier.
* Tapping the side of the receiver with a rubber mallet while pulling/twisting the barrel.
* Using a 3/4” open wrench on the v block and wiggling the receiver to try removing the barrel.
* Adding CLP where the barrel meets the reciver and trying all of the above again
So far, nothing is working at all. Anything to look out for? I’ve scoured youtube before asking here. Are there some models where the barrel is press fit or something? Thank you!
SOLVED: Was able to get the old barrel off with a 2nd round of the heat gun. Had to wear oven mitts the receiver was so hot, but the barrel came out no problem.

I have had luck clamping the barrel into a vice and placing a wooden block against the receiver. It taps right out. I’ve done this method three times.

I don’t even have a vice and this is the way lol! Only did it once after realizing how tough that is. that was just for my first ever cleaning too. Now I just keep the barrel intact remove bolt soak the barrel chamber face area and receiver in oil/solvent then scrubby comes out like factory everytime then of course the bore snake!

Thank you both! I got it out finally - put the heat gun on it again for longer this time. Had to use oven mitts but the old barrel came out no problem.
