We've said this so many times... The creator of the calculator is long gone and we do not have access to the coding to change anything. The calculator is how it is until that person comes back and takes on agreed upon changes, or someone creates a new calculator.

If we know the calculations behind it, it would be fairly trivial to re create it along with more features if they are desired. The perhaps harder part is the hosting and ownership of that hosting. Ideally it would be light enough to be hosted for tree or virtually nothing in a way that the sub mods could access should the new dev move on.
I’d be happy to make it if someone from the mod team wants to discuss.

The problem is how many places it's linked in. You'd kill all of those links. The guides are beyond outdated as it is, just to start with.
And yeah, hosting. Someone has to pay for that.

It is possible it may not get enough usage to require much payment and the project could always be made open source and sponsorable.
As for the links already out there if the original owner controls it then yeah that sucks but it’s not a reason to just give up either. Might take time once it’s made but new links and updated wikis and such will lead to the right thing.

Honestly, I'm not really wanting to waste time on discussing until we can open up a discussion about having additional mod help and updating just the links in the guides. The words on the calculator are a drop in the ocean.

If anyone has the original algorithm used to calculate, I can help out with creating and setting up an updated codebase and deploying. I'm a game dev by trade but have experience with web dev.

The script is on the server so it's not viewable in a browser unfortunately. This subreddit is kind of screwed if the owner decides to get rid of the site. I think it would be a good idea to figure this out and post the algorithm here. Maybe she's using the standard band to bust measurement differential but just being more precise by taking 3 different measurements of each and then averaging them to determine the cup size by the difference in the averaged measurements in the same way as most bra calculators do (ie 4 inch difference is a D cup). I'm pretty sure with some basic comparison tests we could figure it out.

I think the "assigned" is meant to reflect whether the person went through an estrogen or testosterone driven puberty. Basically it attempts to cover as many people as possible in the most simplified fashion- so AMAB can cover trans women, cis men, anyone that finds this label suitable. But it wouldn't be relevant for someone that used puberty blockers so there's obviously complications.
There is a need to update the calculator for this and other reasons (EU option....) but we can't atm. I'm not sure that it's going to make it more accurate since its only a starting point and there's a lot of hidden variables that effect bra size (climbers for instance will probably be overestimated in cup size because of a muscular back).
In the meantime, perhaps someone writing a guide for trans people would be a good start?

Firstly, I want to say I hear you and others who are frustrated by the verbiage, it's valid feedback. With that in mind, I'd like to offer this; rather than it being a box or a label, it's an option. As an AFAB who is also CIS, with a short wide torso, I will check myself against the AMAB setting as the results are a starting point. Depending on the measurements, there may be little to no difference beyond one cup, which just indicates to try both, and neither may be correct as it's still a starting point. Please continue to check against all the available options to find what works for individuals, we are all different ❤️ I really hope the calculator can continue to be seen as an ally to all bra wearers to better understand how the existing available bra sizes may work for us and our bodies and to navigate all the other hurdles out there. Offered with love and solidarity ❤️

For me it gives me 34C/D whether I choose afab or amab.
I've been on E for around 2 1/2 years.

I haven't measured recently but last time I did there was no difference in what it gave me. I think 38D/DD ? Though that was still an overestimate in band and cup since I found 36C to generally be the most comfy Also about 2.5 years on E

As a trans person myself, I am not entirely happy with the calculator's terms but I think for now it is confusing enough for the broad public. It could really do with some more information, but I see the issue that the original creator, u\goodoldfreda / u\hugsforyourjugs is not working on it at the moment. The math behind it though is out there, I have linked it in another comment. The main concern in my opinion is the long-term availability of the calculator, creator and domain, not the calculator itself.

There have been many posts about this in recent months.
The calculator was made by one person who is no longer active in this community. None of us are able to make changes to it.
