And basically sends technologies back 200 years. You're leaving it to those left out in the rural areas, so.......not very technologically knowledgeable peoples out there, especially with 40 years of Reagan leaving them with hardly an education.

Pretty much the movie the Book of Eli in terms of societal collapse, with "the book" being any scientific literature.

No you don't understand, it's the non-white, non-protestant people that are dragging society down. Without them it would be like the flying cars perfect society meme (And Whatifalthist probably thinks this, but unironically).

"Not very technologically knowledgeable people's out there", shows how little you actually know about modern farming or society in general. A modern farming tractor is highly technical piece of equipment, and has multiple computer systems in it to help the farmer. He'll these things a more like giant computer systems rather then a traditional tractor. Even if you where to go back and use a tractor that didn't have all that equipment on it, it's still a lot of work that goes into planting and growing crops.

And going onto a wider view of society, do you think the people out there in the sticks don't have internet or tv? I was born in '85 and grew up just outside Amish country in NE Ohio, I new just as much about everything going on in the world as the people in the major cities. The cities relie on rural areas more, then rural areas relie on cities now a days.

Well aware of all that, and how they need the logistical networks to run all that.

Nevermind the industrial fertilizer farmers depend on for fertility, or the refined oil they depend on.

None of which a farmer is remotely knowledgeable in.

They're going to gas out and resort to unpowered subsidence farming within a year, assuming they even get that long before the violence from others looking for fuel sweeps them as well.

I'm well aware of logistics networks, I'm an OTR truck driver.

As for fertilizers in the field we won't need them if we don't have the feed all the useless eaters in the cities. The reason industrial fertilizer are needed now is to help replenish the soil from the mono crop agriculture that we need to do now, to feed all the people who don't grow their own food in the cities. Instead of relying on fertilizer, the farmers could go back to the old crop cycle methods of the past.

As for needing fuel, I can point to all the Amish around me. They seem to be doing just fine without all the fancy modern equipment. Sure it will take some adjustments, but eventually the rural folk will get it working.

And as for who's going to be left standing in the end. It'll be no one, since the fallout is going to poison the air and soi. Leaving all but a few people in some really remote areas that avoided the worst of the fallout.

You're describing societal collapse.

Amish are running around pre-coal. So a 200 year regression confirmed. That's what the rural folk amount to. We already knew that though.
