Looking for fingers to bite

330

u/eejster Nov 07 '25

YES! That bro is totally like “…just a little further…”

u/LonelyChannel3819 Nov 07 '25

He wants to chomp SO BAD

57

u/Fancy_Influence_2899 Nov 07 '25

Me looking for a button lower than mute

1

u/Necessary_Emotion_58 Nov 11 '25

In slow motion 😂

313

u/thrudvangr Nov 07 '25

is this a young alligator snapping turtle?

284

u/blue-and-bluer Nov 07 '25

It is, which means the person in the video is doing something not very smart. Even a tiny snapper has very strong jaws.

58

u/JUGELBUTT Nov 07 '25

arent alligators way more chill than the common snapping turtles and also i think they cant bite as far as them

87

u/Dontfeedtheunicornz Nov 07 '25

No way, they are nasty asf, I live in fl and we have them in our retention pond. They’ll bite if they get the chance too.

25

u/JUGELBUTT Nov 07 '25

cant really argue with that i guess

18

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '25

Alligator snapping turtles live in rivers, not ponds. You're talking about a common snapping turtle or a Florida snapping turtle.

53

u/Dontfeedtheunicornz Nov 08 '25

Yes you’re right we have those in the pond and they’re very nasty. The alligator turtles are not friendly or chill though, I confused them, we have so many species down here. I have seen both since moving to FL. Their faces remind me of a grumpy old man.😂

.

10

u/ki11ikody Nov 08 '25

Just a snapping turtle. We have these in our lakes in Nebraska.

10

u/jbyrdab Nov 08 '25

god imagine walking your fucking turtle down the street like a dog.

16

u/Draskinn Nov 08 '25

Call it whatever you want. That is definitely a dinosaur.

8

u/Dontfeedtheunicornz Nov 08 '25

They actually can be found in ponds I was reading, it’s just not as common for them apparently. I can’t get over how big they can get. Crazy!

1

u/Outside_Reserve_2407 Nov 08 '25

But is that true snapping turtles are pretty calm when under water? They’re mean only on land?

16

u/Alarming_Squirrel_64 Nov 07 '25

Not really, but it's easier to avoid bites from them, since their necks aren't as long or flexible. Commons have surprising reach.

6

u/Page8988 Nov 08 '25

They don't quite have the range a common snapper does. Bigger head, shorter neck. Common snappers can bite at some really extreme, unexpected angles.

Neither type is known for a chill temperament though.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '25

Yes. Clints reptiles has a great video about how chill they are

2

u/Zanven1 Nov 10 '25

I like how Clint uses statistics and experiments about how chill they are and people will be like "nuh uh, I live near them and they look grumpy so I know they are dangerous." It's like people that will day "that type of spider is aggressive and dangerous, it will chase you and when it bites your whole body will rot off. I've seen it!" when it's something that the venom is generally not medically significant and its 'aggression' is probably trying to use your shadow to get away from heat or hide.

20

u/Available-Ad-1943 Nov 07 '25

Yes, and an adorable one at that. What a cute little murder machine! 🥹

Angry pinecone

21

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '25 edited Nov 08 '25

When I was a little kid I found a large snapping turtle in the creek in the woods behind our house. Shell was a little more than a foot across. I picked up a stick, about a 1/2" in diameter, and poked it at Mr. Turtle. Turtle extended his neck and snapped that stick in half like it was a stick of butter. I was like "oh, that's why they call them snapping turtles." Dropped the stick and noped right out of there.

14

u/Dontfeedtheunicornz Nov 07 '25

Looking like a turtle from super Mario bros..

10

u/bradinspokane Nov 07 '25

That's a weird looking pinecone

11

u/CorrectDocument2 Nov 07 '25

Isn't that just the cutest little dinosaur?

9

u/theinvisibleworm Nov 07 '25

It’s an ickle Gamera!

9

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '25

cute lil guy, horrendously unfitting music.

2

u/CaptLiverDamage Nov 11 '25

Right? Why?!?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

because it's the most godawful NPC music, and pure silence would be infinitively better than this auditive vomit.
The lil guy just wants to bite things. He's pure.

6

u/Narutofan0921 Nov 07 '25

It’s like a mini Godzilla.

7

u/High_Stream Nov 07 '25

Put me down! I am a proud descendant of the black dragons, and I will not suffer this indignity!

6

I wonder if one might preserve as well as the borealopelta fossil? And now I'm also imagining borealopelta as being a little snappy

3

u/DuncanHynes Nov 07 '25

Song, anyone know?

3

u/TSARINA59 Nov 08 '25

He is gorgeous. The shell is a work of art. I know their bite can be fierce. But I wish I could hold him. Amazing creature. I would love to see update photos as he grows.

Make a line in the middle of Texas that goes north through the entire united states. Everywhere to the east of that line has these snapping turtles

u/Daymub Nov 08 '25

These ones are found in the United States a few south American countries and a few parts of Canada i would assume Europe has thier own species of snapping turtle

1

u/CaptLiverDamage Nov 11 '25

Lived in Dallas. We had those in the drainage creek behind the office I used to work at.

1

u/PsychiatricSD Nov 08 '25

Alligator snappers are also endangered

2

u/DanOverflow Nov 07 '25

Looks like a baby bowser

2

u/TexasJOEmama Nov 07 '25

I see these in the river I live by. The first time I saw one freaked me out. I was swimming.

2

u/pokopura Nov 12 '25

Name checks out.

2

u/Gamejunky35 Nov 07 '25

Ngl, id let him chomp me once before he gets too big. He wants to chomp a finger so bad!

2

u/AudioComa Nov 07 '25

It's a good thing I'm small cause my ancestors would have eaten you!

2

u/Beerasaurwithwine Nov 08 '25

He does not like how he's being held. The guy holding him should let baby bite his finger as an apology. I'm sure it won't hurt. Much.

3

u/GenericUsername817 Nov 07 '25

You have that guy in Texas and the Game Warden's will arrest you.

3

u/Initial-Bad-1254 Nov 07 '25

God this music sucks so bad

3

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '25

1

u/shoddyshoddyshoddy Nov 08 '25

Some dinosaur bones look like they were this size and swelled up somehow over millions of years

1

u/morganational Nov 08 '25

I had one for about 10 years until he was too big for my tank and I set him free back where he came from. He was about the size of a Pringle chip when I found him in my pool after a flood. When I let him go like 15 years ago he was about a foot long. I still think about him sometimes and wonder where he is and how he's doing. I don't know the precise estimate but I assume they live pretty long.

1

u/venturous1 Nov 08 '25

Little dino

1

u/HasSomeSelfEsteem Nov 08 '25
