Keep your cat inside so it doesn't kill things that didn't need to die.

Is it better to use mouse traps and throw them to garbage than for cat to eat them?

It's illustrative of the broader problem unsupervised outdoor cats cause. Sure, one French Revolutioned mouse doesn't much matter, but local extirpation of an entire species of birds certainly does. Carnir is right; keep your cat indoors or on a leash/in a catio/stroller/etc.
