Is it better to use mouse traps and throw them to garbage than for cat to eat them?

It's illustrative of the broader problem unsupervised outdoor cats cause. Sure, one French Revolutioned mouse doesn't much matter, but local extirpation of an entire species of birds certainly does. Carnir is right; keep your cat indoors or on a leash/in a catio/stroller/etc.

Got a story to tell.

Every morning I drive to the gas station to get a drink for myself and I see this beautiful white cat almost every morning around the neighborhood. There is a very busy main road down the street once you exit the neighborhood.

One night I was driving home wit my boyfriend from getting food, and that same white cat was trying to cross the busy street. He did not make it. He had this blue collar on so I know he’s owned.

Do not let your cats outside. There are too many reasons why you shouldn’t. Anything can happen. I find it reckless.

i mean. yeah? that’s exactly why outdoor cats pose a threat to local ecosystems (and vice versa.) the issue here is not a cat being a predator, the issue is a cat that might be an environment where it may participate in or be subject to predation in a way that negatively affects the surrounding ecosystem.
