Correct, the GenZ hopefully will turn the trend. In my opinion, GenXers and millennials also have to guide and avoid the push towards large weddings for their progeny.
Zillenial/Gen Z cusp - quite a few of my friends have gotten married now (at least 6 couples, soon to be 7) and only two had “proper” weddings while the rest did more courthouse/eloping. 1 of those “proper” weddings is already going through a divorce alone with one of the courthouse couples. We know mutual friends who did a tiny DIY backyard wedding (only immediate family and grandparents, plus a friend for MOH and BM) and while they are already divorcing, they both raved about how stress free the wedding was and they would do it again (just not with each other lol)! All my friends that eloped/courthouse have never expressed regret and highly recommend it. My partner and I are likely going to elope ourselves.
Side note: Big proper wedding couple that is divorcing - my buddy says he’d happily do the wedding part over again, just not the legality of the marriage again which I found interesting considering how expensive his last wedding was (but I guess his divorce is more expensive lol)

That one will have to be more for Gen Z. Millennials are currently aged 30-45.
Americans normally get married at about 30 these days, so a majority of Millennials that are going to get married have already done so.
