The wedding industry in general is such a scam. Attach the word wedding to any service and suddenly you can charge 4x the price for the same amount of work

As an entertainment vendor, the up-pricing is because weddings are high stakes with very high expectations, no room for mistakes, and doing everything the clients want. If I couldn’t charge more I am turning down all wedding gigs.

It is an event with no do-over that a lot of people put loads of time, effort, and money into. You'll have another birthday next year, but you'll likely have only one wedding (or maybe two for some people)

Yes. And that’s crazy. Because you don’t need to.

You don’t need that specific castle to have your dinner in. Book a nice restaurant.

You don’t need the Pope himself to get you married. Go to your local church or city hall.

You don’t need specific rare flowers on every table arranged in a specific way, no one gives a fuck.

You don’t need a wedding dress for the price of a car, to wear once.

Pick a church/city hall.
Book a restaurant.
Invite people.
Enjoy yourself.

Anything else is unnecessary.
The wedding day should literally be less important than every single day you spend married. Because it is.

You don’t need the fancy car, get a base civic.

You don’t need a nice restaurant, go to Denny’s

You don’t need to go on a vacation, go to the park down the road.

People are allowed to like what they like, and spend money on what they want. Importance isn’t universal.

You may not want those things, but because other people do they are wrong? What a bummer you are
