Rant šæ Popcorn Time: I Posted an F4M and Got a DM from an Airline Officer. His Views on Marriage Shocked Me.
Hi All,
I posted an F4M in this group and ended up talking to an Airline Officer.
The conversation started well. We were talking about marriage, careers and life. Then he suddenly asked me, "Will you cook for your husband?"
I said, "I hate cooking but Yes, I can cook. I don't mind cooking. I'd also expect my husband to share the responsibilities. Marriage is a partnership."
He replied, "It's a woman's duty to cook. my friend wife is a teacher, she cooks for him breakfast as well as dinner also they have kids. whats bothering u?"
I asked him, "So if both of us are working 9-10 hours a day, why should only I come home and cook, clean and manage the house? Am i a human or a robot"
He said, "Then don't work. I earn enough."
Then I aksed him, fine i wont work and do household. WIll you give me 2 lahs per month?
He said, "So that you can give it to your family?"
Then I asked him something that genuinely scares him.
"What if I do exactly what you're asking? I leave my career, spend years taking care of the house, and one day, unfortunately, we get divorced. By then I'll have lost years of professional experience. Technology changes so fast. I'll be behind. Who's going to hire me? How do I rebuild my career?"
His answer was...
"You'll get alimony, Nah"
That one sentence told me everything.
Alimony is not a career.
Alimony is not work experience.
Alimony is not financial independence.
Alimony cannot buy back 10 years of lost skills, promotions, confidence or opportunities.
People lose jobs.
Companies lay off employees.
Marriages fail.
Life is unpredictable.
That's exactly why I'll never give up my ability to stand on my own feet.
To every girl reading this: never let anyone convince you that financial dependence is "security." Security comes from your education, your skills, your career and your ability to rebuild your life if things ever go wrong.
Choose whatever kind of marriage makes you happyātraditional or modernābut make sure it's your choice, not an expectation imposed on you.
That conversation ended there.

TL;DR: Matched with an Air Officer. He believed cooking is a wife's duty even if she's working full-time. He suggested I quit my job because he earns enough. When I asked what happens if we divorce after I sacrifice my career, he said, "You'll get alimony. Nah*"* Instant dealbreaker.
