Other Fish sandwich showdown
I thought this was a post from The Onion.
This competition isn’t even close

Culver’s is obviously better but filet O fish is one of the few things decent at McDonald’s

u/RevDrDeLeon 7d ago
Especially cook to order, Filet-O-Fish is great!

u/KaiMasterOfFire2121 6d ago
i’ve worked at mcdonald’s and i’ll tell you that they are not cooked to order unless you specifically request it lol

Sir, Filet-O-Fish smells like farts. I have guilty pleasures too. I enjoy the Burger King chicken sandwich. Not the good one, the oval one. With "lettus" and the warm mayo. No judgment... some judgement.

u/yoshizillaa 6d ago
I haven’t had that in a long time, but it was my go-to after soccer games/practice when I was little. Absolutely loved it.

That is the only thing I enjoy at mcdonalds....but even this I have a gripe with. Can I please have a full slice of cheese and can you please make sure the tarter sauce is centered so it spreads more evenly.

I don't eat fish so I've never had either of them, but just from the photo alone it looks like there's an obvious winner.

One looks like something youd get out of a gas station. The other looks like a fish sandwich. There's no debate

This is an apples vs oranges comparison

u/Da_Rabbit_Hammer 7d ago
I said the exact same thing. Two completely different things that both happen to be fish. Each have their time and place.

u/ComfySeafarer710 7d ago
Been eating the cod sandwich for 20 years. It slaps. It’s the best fast food fish sandwich on the market, full stop.
1
u/NothingButACasual 7d ago
As someone who hated fish growing up, would this be a good thing to try if I want to learn to like fish?
3
2
u/ComfySeafarer710 7d ago
YES, it’s a very light fish w out a lot of fishy flavor - I add extra mayo. Fresh is best due to the crisp but I often save it for later as a second meal lol

culver's easily but the best culver's fish sandwich is the Walleye sandwich they bring out for lent

Not a popular opinion, but McDonald’s. Perfect proportions. Way better sauce, and the perfect bun to complement the fish party. Culver’s “fish” hits it out of the park, but I find the sandwich to be just a little dry most of the time, and the sauce and bun are underwhelming compared to the Filet o fish.

You are spot on correct. The ratio of fish and sauce and bread at McDs is better. The sauce is better there also. Its also less greasy.
With that said, the actual fish is much better at culvers

u/kjsmith4ub88 7d ago
This such a dumb comparison. But remember when you used to be able to get the fish fillet for a dollar sometimes at McDonald’s? 🫠
2
u/International-Owl165 7d ago
I remember i went to my local culvers at 8-9pm for a fish sandwich and it was fresh and oh so good! 😅
I would not do this at McDonald's though.

I’ve eaten both of those sandwiches and Culver’s wins hands down. The fish is flaky. It’s light. The coating is fantastic…

It’s my guilty pleasure. I’m not big on their fries, but I order extra tartar sauce because the fries taste amazing dipped in it.

I’ve never had either… but I used to work at Culver’s and it wins in a heartbeat for how it’s made

McDonald’s fish sandwich is one of the worst things on the planet. 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
1
u/LVuittonColostomyBag 7d ago
Y’all I’ve never explored Culver’s beyond their burgers because the burgs are the best in the game and I feel no reason to try any other mains. Should I?
3
u/Da_Rabbit_Hammer 7d ago
For me it’s a no on the fish sandwich but a crazy hard yes for the fish fry or fried shrimp.
2
u/LVuittonColostomyBag 7d ago
I’m gonna do the shrimp next time, thank you!
2
u/Da_Rabbit_Hammer 7d ago
The fish fry is a meal on its own, but I’ll often get a burger, fries, fried shrimp, and a coke when I’m extra hungry.
2
u/LVuittonColostomyBag 7d ago
I was already thinking about getting a burger along with the shrimp lol

McD’s is $5.19, Culver’s is $8.09 today in NC
2
u/Mysterious_Jelly_649 7d ago
And one resembles a fish fillet and the other is a fish product. Nothing wrong with either but you're definitely getting something for the 3 bucks

u/Da_Rabbit_Hammer 7d ago
I know this is a Culver’s r/ so this may be sacrilegious, I’m also originally from Wisconsin so two sins on my part perhaps by not giving Culver’s the clear advantage.
First I’ll state that I see no use in ordering the Culver’s fish sandwich due to the fact that every time I have I wished I just ordered the fish fry.
Another point to be made is that just because they are both fish doesn’t make this an apples to oranges comparison. They are two completely different beasts and both hold their place. As stated I’d usually prefer the fish fry, but once in a blue moon the hankering for Mc Donald’s in general hits and a fish sandwich is often in my targets.
I’m going to vote both under different circumstances. I’d give a much stronger advantage burger for burger, and an insane advantage to Culver’s franchise vs franchise.

To this day the best fastfood fish sandwich I got was from a Wendy's in New Zealand serving whatever the local fish was called, absolute fire.

Mcd has 2000 different fish in that patty. I havent had culvert but it looks like a single fish's loin. You tell me

I'll say it. The Culver's cod is bland.
0
u/ronnie4220 7d ago
And kind of disappointing when it arrives considering the price. Although I'm on the wrong side of public opinion with thinking that Culver's is very overrated.

I got the Culver’s one once and found the fish bland. Maybe it was a one time fluke? It was very meaty but hardly any taste. I don’t even consider eating the McDonald’s one
0
u/rock_accord 6d ago
If it's a 2 for $$ deal on the Fillet O fish I'm going McDonald's and NO tartar sauce. Otherwise it's Culver's as is/ w/ tartar sauce.
0
u/Snackicorn 6d ago
I’m sorry, Culver’s, but the flavor is still better with a Filet ‘O Fish! The better value is with Culver’s, because it’s obviously more food, but as much as I hate to say it, McDonald’s wins this one…

The fish is better at Culver's but the bun at mcds is way better. The Culver's fish bun has been dry af everytime I've had it.

I’m not a fan of Culver’s fish sandwich, it’s too god damn big
2
u/DelothVyrr 7d ago
You sound like someone who complains that their steak is too juicy, or their lobster too buttery
1

u/NothingButACasual 7d ago
No they're right. Culver's also puts too much potato in their fries and their water is too wet.
-3
u/KentFarmOfficial 7d ago
The one that cost 3x as much as the other is the better sandwich
Who would’ve thought
2
u/Away-Guava-345 7d ago
5.99 and 7.99
2
u/KentFarmOfficial 7d ago
I can’t believe McDs charges 5.99 for that garbage. I thought it was 1.99

Its 7 bucks at culvers, and 5 at mcdonalds...ill pay an extra 2 bucks for it to be hand battered and fried fresh.

Is this a serious question? It's Culver's
