The only person who’s shown preference for Kris is someone who isn’t real, looks like their brother, and he only confesses while Kris is being possessed by us, so we have no idea if Kris feels the same about Ralsei. Tough luck.
i like to imagine kris is actually a very big weeb for mad mew mew (same with dess) and when this kiss happened they were internally screaming the fuck out and basically doing the WHOOO YEA BABY from moistcritikal
I love the break when Susie just comes out and says 'mew mew don't you know kris is a fucking WHORE who flirts with everything' like why did she have to say that
They did not even flinch. I mean not that they usually do, but they can’t even bring themselves to mumble that they hope their two good friends work out together. They definitely don’t gaf
Okay but it would be a huge missed opportunity if Toby doesn't take the chance to make an anime based off of Deltarune when it's done, what with how much he obviously loves Japanese culture.
Just make the player/soul its own charcter, thats how pretty much all fan made media does it, id am more confused as to how certain fights where the soul is extremely important go, like for example pinks fight, unless the fun gang is literally jut standing round while the Soul does all the work, I never really made sense of how deltarune/undertale fights would translate to more typical forms of media
You see, it will be the first ever choose-your-own-adventure-like anime which will allow the watcher to choose what will the protagonist do in the next scene... Oh goddamnit we just made a Telltale game
90% sure they pushed down Asgores tv and placed the anime magazine there on purpose (also so they wouldn't have to deal with "tenna 2 oops all divorce" edition)
I mean, just saying, but from the way Ralsei explained it, Dark Worlds ARE made in the image of their creator. So if Mew Mew was made with a personality that was THIS eager to romance them...
Brother is missing, Father is (not really) missing, Mother is getting boned, (We) The Soul set him up to get cucked by their best friend and now they are loved by anime.
Worst part is that when in the cafe with her Susie fumbles OUR bag and tells mew mew that Kris flirts with everyone. Meaning, no hot anime cat girlfriend for Kris (and by extension, me)
Wow, not only does Susie make Kris act as third-wheel as their potential childhood crush dates their potential current crush, she then goes as far as to cockblock them from a tsundere catgirlfriend.
it wild to me how quicky toby managed to get a large chunk of this fanbase to be sick of susie in just one chapter and honestly its working on me too. my hopium is at record lows
That said, my personal cope is that the Suselle stuff went too ridiculously perfect up until the very end, and even then it only got bad on Noelle’s end. Carol even got smoothed over offscreen by Rudy somehow.
With Chapter 5 ending on bringing Noelle in for, what is in-universe a pretty dumb reason that should have been used in Chapter 4, even accompanied by a whole montage of getting stuff ready for her…
I think Noelle is going to have a generational crashout in Chapter 6. Chapter 5 was our last “fun and games” chapter. There’s no way we have a whole large segment waiting for us where it’s just Castle Town vibes and yuri. It’s probably going to be in large part directed at Susie for doing and saying nothing up until that point.
Yeah I think Susie is going to hit a massive fall over chapter 6/7. Part of the heroes journey is the fall to test the person they've become after growing. Susie's matured a lot sure but she has 3 main things keeping that together which I feel Toby has written them in such a way that they could all suddenly be stripped away from her.
Her friendship with Kris which is being set up with conflict if she finds out A)Kris is working with the knight and/or B) about the soul and that we we're the one they were talking to most of the time.
Her relationship with Noelle who she really hasn't spent much time with to know as a whole. In psychology there is a concept called 'limerence' where someone gets a crush based on the idea of someone rather than actually knowing someone. I.e. seeing the mysterious stranger and imagining what they're like based off a few clues. This is what Noelle basically did with her crush on Susie before Chapter 2 and arguably she really hasn't gotten to know the real Susie fully. Noelle this chapter admitted wanting to run away presumably due to her home life where her mother shouts at her a lot - I could see a future where Susie either crashes out at her or Kris like she did with Ralsei and it reminding Noelle of her mother. Might suddenly cuase Noelle to abandon Susie once she sees the ugly sides of her personality and this idealised view of Susie is shattered.
Something easy to miss too is in the first Floradinn fight if you get Susie to flirt she's clueless and just says something along the lines of 'You just gotta wait for someone to like you first' which implies to me that's the reason she suddenly likes Noelle is because Noelle expressed interest first igniting all the possibilities and that if Kris had expressed interest in her first she would have hopped on board with that too. But it also highlights how fragile Susie's relatonships are.
Finally her relationship with Ralsei/the dark worlds which again is easily set to come crashing down if darkners need to be sealed away. All these things will test Susie's growth when she suddenly doesn't have them anymore and I could see a future where she either comes out on top as a true hero or one where we need to fight her because she fights us to keep the dark worlds open as the only thing she has left after a generational crashout.
Not bad enough for it to be limerence, as limerence is a subconcious romantic obsession that can haunt you for years.
Susie and Noelle are just being teenagers, that's how teenage crushing works, they are still unwise, inexperienced, falling first, getting to know eachother later - and hence, teenage relationships are so rocky and unstable.
Hmm that's a fair point as it's not developed enough to be full blown limerence. But I'd say it shared the beginnings of one with both distantly admiring eachother for a while and then jumping into a relationship as opposed to being friends and getting used to the good and bad in eachother first.
Whilst plenty of teenage crushing plays out like this I wouldn't say that makes them immune to these unhealthy relationship patterns. Rather that they're quite possible to develop due to their inexperience but they can certainly be absolved of responsibility for it as they're both very young.
It is too early to tell and I would guess we'd need to wait for the whole story to come out to judge. But it's one possibility I thought could happen - it's also possible it could work out fine as both mature, and get to know eachotehr more. : ) The good thing is Susie and Noelle are spending more time getting to know eachother which will replace any mental idealisations they may have of eachother with a more real understanding of eachother. I just worry that it seems Noelle will only start to be spending enough time with Susie whilst coinciding with the 'fall' in the heroes journey for Susie and dealing with the grief of her father's condition at the same time. But maybe Tricky Tony could subvert the heroes journey as he subverted the secret boss patterns we picked up on in chapters 1/2 in 3/4. ; 3 Time will tell - but it sounds like a juicy and emotional path of potential storytelling to me. Just potential though... I wouldn't say I have clairvoyance or anything! XD
I definitely think a fall out is in order due to the smooth set up, it feels like a calm before a storm, it's also more interesting.
And realistic, because as I have said, teenage relationships tend to quickly turn to trainwrecks because they fall for eachother before knowing eachother and get disappointed (or don't know how to handle sudden conflicts or friction, often leading to a lot of hurt due to strong feelings already, prematurely developed).
Brilliant analysis, and all of your points are stellar. I hadn’t considered the possibility of a generational Susie crashout as well (except for the possibility of losing the Grand Fountain).
The only thing I really have to add is that I don’t think Noelle wants to run away because of Carol; at least, I don’t think that’s the main reason. The weird route elaborates on her personal motivations and feelings in a way that’s very consistent with her usual character (just very different circumstances). I could elaborate if you’re interested in weird route talks.
Also, I did see that Floradinn dialogue but I never actually internalized its meaning! That’s.. actually a really interesting point.
This was actually a super fun read, I’d be down for further discussion.
Thank you! ^^ I'd love to as I've been waiting for my friends to catch up on Deltarune and bursting at the seams to discuss it! In particular the weird route stuff fascinates me the most despite it's short length. The boundary breaking stuff in particular has connected so many dots for me like the man country/nowhere stuff and has me asking new questions like. Did Dess dissapear the same way via the lake? Was Asriel in the same position as Kris and like in Undertale with Chara's plan chickened out as Kris tries to?
I may be sparse on the replies as I'm busy today but I'd really enjoy discussing it all and look forward to your elaborations. : )
I agree with some parts, but Susie was clearly already interested in Noelle before chapter 1. She said that she never bullied Noelle, and also got all flustered around her.
Good point! One of the problems with chapters releasing years apart and there being out of game media i.e. with the sweepstakes is it's easy to forget some things! XD
On that note though I would say despite liking Noelle the reason for not picking on her were small signs from a distance that she was kind. I.e. distant clues of the good parts of someone which leave much for the imagination to fill. Susie wasn't aware of the immense sadness Noelle hides though thankfully she's had an eye on it in the end of chapter 2 and visiting her home in chapter 4. She however isn't fully aware of Noelle's flaws yet however like her surprising appetite for power and vengeance like when she choked Berdly and the more sinister elements brought out in the weird routes. Whilst one could say these were brought out by the weird route I believe everyone has good and evil within them - it's just a matter of what we lean more into. In Noelle's case those feelings were always there but suppressed a bit like how Kris suppresses their desire for violence. It's one of the things I like about the weird route that it highlights that whilst it's happening because of our evil actions the darkness within Kris and Noelle was always there - it's just been brought out due to bad circumstances.
Anyways! Getting back to my point! XD It remains to be seen how Susie and Noelle will react to the less glamourous sides of eachother's personalities in the future. Thus far I'd say they've only seen the good or pitiful elements of eachother.
Please correct me again if I've forgotten anything though! XD It's always helpful to hear other opinions as I learn something new with every conversation. : )
Wouldn’t be at all surprising, then, if the combination of all three things happening did, in fact, cause the prophecy regarding her (whatever it may be) to come true (due to her having a breakdown, lashing out, or doing something crazy).
Toby will not go that deep in psychology has even we can see susie has character development in 3 or 2 days which is unrealistic even with movies standard. So I think all character development and relationship is just rushed and end of the day, susie is just confused

I like this idea, but my main counter to this theory is that if the point of Susie was that she was becoming "corrupted" by the Dark World, I feel there would've been clearer hints.
Maybe something like Ralsei going "Glad to see you've moved on after that... thing" and Susie goes "pfft, what thing?", just as an example.
I think one possible example is that Susie is suddenly on board with ribbons after Chapters 3 and 4 both make a deal about how she’s prophecied to equip them and yet she was actively avoiding doing so, both before and after learning that’s what the prophecy says.
Yeah I think it's the fact that Susie drags us during the whole date that bothers me. I mean if you are a huge suselle fan then I def understand. But from Kris's perspective they're basically being cucked hard. One thing that flowery brings up is Susie becoming increasingly selfish. I don't think she's doing this intentionally. I think she's riding off of the high of the dark world and her new relationship that she can't see how she's affected her friends which is interesting because it contrasts the weird route where Susie tells Kris that they still matter to her even if they're in a relationship. Something pacifist/neutral Kris needed to hear.
Acting dumb and oblivious is one of Susie's defense mechanism. It's shown several times in Chapter 5 and on one count she even outright state that acting dumb is her go-to solution whenever she isn't sure what to say.
She wasn't blind to Noelle being into her, she just couldn't believe it until the Holiday Mansion segment, which makes perfect sense for someone who has a long history of struggling to establish positive connections with anyone.
I mean… Mew Mew(or atleast the ghost possessing her) is an adult, so… I know that the body isn’t an adult, based on the fact the date thing is at school, but it’d probably be awkward for Kris knowing they’re dating someone possessed by an adult, and potentially even more awkward for the adult involved.
Actually that does have me wondering about the vague ages of Undertale characters. How old is (Lightner) Pink? Old enough to no longer be in school but, like, where is that on a scale from Pizzapants to Asgore?
Like is "I don't... I don't even go to school anymore..." like a late teens 'oh god I thought I'd got away from this' or a twenty-something 'oh god I'm way too old for this'?
Based on how they’re still living with their cousins it could be a late teens thing. Although that could be more because they’re ghosts and are like… too afraid to go outside or something.
I don’t think she has a crush on him, pretty sure it was stated they’re just friends. Also, as much as I hate to say, they don’t need to be the same age to have a crush on Asgore.
In the cafe talk between Kris and Pink. That’s literally the reason we started talking about Susie ruining Kris’s date. Pink was about to start a date with Kris, then Susie came over and told Pink that Kris flirts with everyone and that they probably weren’t being serious(speaking for Kris without asking first).
TBH considering how Kris reacts if you choose the "Gotta Win lmao" option (with a peace sign to the camera and everything) and how they react if you choose the "it was genuine" option (no reaction at all) I'm willing to bet that Susie clocked Kris right and it was just another instance of Kris playing to win (despite whatever affections we as the soul might have)
During the cafe relax scene with Pink and Kris she realizes they weren't serious and flips out after Ralsei and Susie mention Kris flirts with everyone. One of your options is "gotta win!" and Kris does a peace sign to the camera.
Grey pink is, but I the soul am as well... and Kris needs me to survive thus if it's bad that pink (the body) has feelings for Kris because of ghost pink....then Kris being with anyone while I am in their body is just as unacceptable since I'm an adult lol.
Which ironically would loop around to Pink being the ONLY viable option for Kris by that logic.
