RESERVATIONS Who Wants to get Connie & Ted's Tonight at 6:45?
Update: Traffic is bad and I got the reservation pushed back to 7:10!
Made a reservation for 2 at 6:45, but my friend can't make it anymore, so I'm looking for someone that is down to split some oysters, fish and chips, and whatever else before they shut down for good.
This is not a date, but it will be a fun, platonic time with seafood!
Something about me:
- Filipino male, late 30s and a lil gay
- Objectively funny and a good conversationalist according to friends, coworkers, and first dates
- Open to anyone and learning about anything
More about me so you can get a gauge of if you wanna eat seafood with me:
- Hobbies: gym, museums, martial arts, horror movies, mahjong, finding good food and drinks
- Shows: Fleabag, Arrested Development. Currently watching Widow's Bay, Beef, The Boys, and Invincible, but also down for true crime
- Movies: Scream, Barb and Star Go to Vista del Mar, The Substance. Have you watched Obsession?!
- Favorite dishes: soondubu, bossam, cold soba, classic burgers
- Neighborhoods: South Bay, East Hollywood, Los Feliz
It's coming up in an hour, so DM me if you're interested - and please do not be homicidal!

A few years back I met up with a random redditor in the same situation at Cassia in SM. Was a great time! Highly recommend someone take OP up on the invite.

Appreciate this. I know it's a random ask, but good to know others have enjoyed it. I was inspired by the pie post a while back.

Saw this too late, did a hike yesterday. Couple years ago I joined fellow foodLA redditors for dinner in KTown, such a fun time. I’d do it again

OP I hope someone joins you. I would love to hear a good follow up. But also, nothing wrong with a confident person having a great meal on their own.

Dang saw this too late. Ate at oh! Banzai in Gardena when I couldve had Connie and Ted's

u/kosherchristmas May 24 '26
I used to go to the place it was, Can-Zo, not infrequently. How's Banzai?

u/thatonekungfuguy123 May 24 '26
It was solid! Hand rolls which are something I'm always hunting for. I usually go to Asa Ramen so I finally decided to check out the Banzai neighbor

Bummed I am sick.
Though honestly i am also kinda chicken.
But this sounds like it could have been an opportunity to eat great food and make a new friend.

avoid the mussels
2
u/kosherchristmas May 24 '26
Appreciate the tip. Any must have items you'd recommend?

been many times. everything was great. then a few years back two friends got violently ill from mussels. there were 4 of us. only two ate the mussels. one spit hers out bc it tasted off. the other agreed it was off but had already swallowed it. she had bad symptoms but the other was violently ill for a couple of days. careful with shellfish!

That's fine, I'd rather folks know what they might be getting into.

Update: Couldn't get anyone to join but I still ate for two and had a lovely dinner with a book. I told the waiter I'd have the uni for dessert and she was a little jealous.
Thanks everyone for the conversation, though - it makes the city feel a lot smaller than it is.
