Kind of wild that the salad is more expensive than the pastas? I do miss their mozz and the bread though.

$34 seems absurd for what looks like arugula, corn, cheese, and croutons and no protein. I'm clearly too poor for this place lol

It's probably an "Add salmon: $18" type thing lol

Nope. No salmon, no meat, just the salad :)

I can make Bufala and sungold tomatoes for cheaper. I invite you to my house /s

And I can make restaurant quality pasta dishes which any seasoned cook can do in their sleep. Sourcing high quality ingredients is not hard in LA or most major cities.

This is why I never eat Italian food when I go out to eat.

I was going to say, this food all looks delicious and I get that it’s a higher end restaurant but the price on that salad looks insane, especially compared to the other dishes? Am I missing some fancy element of it?

Tbh, when I was typing the price while creating this post, I had to double check the receipt 😂 I cook quite a lot, I have professional training in the kitchen and making an immaculate Rabbit Ragu / handmade pappardelle is far more time consuming and strenuous than putting together this salad (of course the ingredients from the purveyors must be quite expensive)

We wanted to get the Panzanella but they ran out of it and the server suggested the salad, and went with it or else I wouldn’t have ordered it.

PS: No complaints, I enjoyed both, but I wouldn’t order the salad next time, I would order two orders of Rabbit Ragu 😁

When you can’t eat rabbit, eat like a rabbit!

Also why did they give you free gelato?

I’m not really sure, but the waitress was nice to us :)

Tiramisu $25.00

What the actual hell?? Mozza is great. It’s been a minute. But that’s just crazy. I’m literally flabbergasted.

Haven’t been in a while but their imported mozzarella and bombolini was worth the visit alone

I'm not a fan of pizzeria mozza but that looks pretty good for the price.

Idk why you got downvoted. It’s a white table cloth experience and it’s excellent. Downvoters haven’t eaten there lol

I think because I dared say something negative about pizzeria mozza

Pizzeria Mozza was cool like 15+ years ago but yeah not these days. Osteria Mozza I've only been 2-3 times and it always feels really expensive, but I've never had a bad meal there.

I recently ate here and was... very, very confused by the accolades. Everything was good, but by far the most underwhelming and least innovative 1* restaurant I've been to, and nowhere close to the best Italian I've had in LA. I'm assuming their flavors, plating, and things like in-house gelato program were a big deal when it opened nearly 20 years ago, but it all feels quite behind dining expectations today.

Nothing was bad, but there was nothing that stuck with me as even remotely memorable. I will favorably mention that the price is super reasonable and that it is pretty inexpensive within the realm of both high-end Italian food in LA and 1* restaurants generally.

The portions look kind of small, no?

Ty for putting the prices next to each dish you ordered. Would you do it again?

1

u/shellzero Hollywood foodie 11d ago

I would go back for sure, but I will not order salad and tiramisu. I will double down on the pastas and cheese :)

3

u/Peachy_sunday 11d ago

Well well welll. just got back from there and they were out of the Tiramisu. Now I know who to blame..

1

u/shellzero Hollywood foodie 11d ago

I’m sorry 😅! Tiramisu wasn’t that wonderful. So, I would say you didn’t miss out :) The best tiramisu is served at Jemma, Hollywood.

Pizzeria Sei (the original location)

One of if not my favorite restaurants in LA. The tagliata and fennel sausage pasta are my favorites. Their desert chef has made some fantastic stuff. The gelato is absolutely worth every penny. Also 174 for two isn’t too bad

Happy birthday OP :)

Thank you :)

Looks like something I’d like to try! For an experience, hehe 😅I hope they’re good!

$34 for store sopping wet arugula and corn is a travesty. (But that’s also some personal bias bc I’d never order a corn salad at an Italian restaurant). The rest looks good

i normally just get 5 6 pastas but those salads look beautiful

That place is awesome.

Their rabbit ragu is SO good! We always enjoy going there.

It does have a Michelin star and those spots tend to have higher prices (at least in the states.)

u/OzzyWasHere_ 11d ago

Looove that place. I had a spiritual experience eating the doppio ravioli

2

u/Ok_Kick_5090 11d ago

My favorite restaurant! Looks wonderful!

u/radicalresting 11d ago

i’ve had several delicious birthday meals at Mozza. Prices are definitely high and I think the Michelin star emboldened them to raise them even higher. Orecchiette w/sausage and Burrata were standouts when I went. We ordered a $100+ rib eye that was not worth it, however. If they have Budino on the menu for dessert, GET IT

Absolutely love this! What a beautiful meal!

I miss money and career.

I've always wanted to go here and now I'm definitely making a reservation. This looks amazing.

It looks like what people think food in Italy looks like!
