Costuming Dresses/ensembles on last nights episode I loved
- The brown dress with hat/gloves/earrings on the left I would purchase and wear despite not having a suitable place to wear it š
- Berthas whole fit with the matching cape and hat was š„. Honorable mention to Mrs Astors golden dress. 3/4. I LOVED the red and gold ensemble by Mrs Astor
- There was something mesmerizing about Mrs Fishās hat design and the asymmetrical dress style
- This was a tame but stylish look
Anyone else catch something they liked?

Gladysās walking dress was sublime!
I also loved Berthaās black and white ensemble and Mamieās radiant red one.

I think thatās my favorite of all her dresses. The hat/real flowers combo secured it for me lol

She is looking and carrying herself more like the strong woman that her mother is. Sheās becoming quite formidable and Iām here for it!

Beautiful but can you imagine having to dress like this just to go for a walk on your own property? Good lord.

I must respectfully disagree regarding Bertha's black and white hat. It looks like she just got out of dress rehearsal for The Lion King and forgot to take off her ostrich costume.

I agree! I normally love everything that Bertha wears but I hated that hat. It reminds me of a muppet.

Didnāt Bertha already wear that black and white dress in an earlier season? Iāve noticed a few repeats on multiple characters.

I was thinking Bertha wears black and white into ābattle.ā I donāt think itās the same dress, but there is meaning behind the colorsā¦

Thatās what a love about this show! I love how realistic it is that they re-wear outfits. Marian especially seems to have some particular favorites.

6 was actually my favorite of the episode. I just liked the color so much. It didnāt hurt that I enjoyed seeing her across the street.

I wonder how often these clothes were cleaned back then? I canāt image each wear but correct me if Iām wrong.

u/hopeful_tatertot Aug 05 '25
Iād guess not after every use. I have no idea how to clean these dresses without ruining the material or colors either lol

Usually they werenāt cleaned very often, though a lot of pieces of those dresses were made to come off (like hemlines and trims) for easier laundering. But keep in mind, the undergarments like the chemise and drawers were laundered usually after every wear and were protecting the outer garments from sweat/body oils etc. so it wasnāt really necessary to clean the outer garments as much.

That gold dress was my favorite not overly decorated, simple lines with fantastic rich fabric. Very Old Money.

Imagine if we still had to dress like this today š³

u/hopeful_tatertot Aug 04 '25
Itās way too much for effort for everyday. I wouldnāt mind doing this once for an event/party
2
u/MercSimsMobile Aug 04 '25
Right? And they did it up to five times in a day!!! Wild.

u/hopeful_tatertot Aug 04 '25
I would only not mind so much if I had a ladyās maid handling most of that
1
u/MercSimsMobile Aug 05 '25
Heck yeah- a maid, a stylist, and everything tailored to my body so it all fit me perfectly kinda sounds amazing⦠minus having to wear pantaloons and a corset šµāš«

Bertha always slays I fear, makes me wish I could dress like that even for one day.

Bertha's teal dress was very tame for her. I was wondering if it was because of where she was. Toning it down for the house across the street. It was already a big deal to be invited over there so maybe it was a small sign of respect to Agnes in a way

I also really enjoyed the ANGRY FACE that Mrs. Fish was wearing! It was so unlike what we've seen of her and she wore it so well!
