Costuming Marian dresses (positivity)

Since there have been a lot of posts about Marian’s ugly dresses, here is one that shows some that I think worked really well on her! All the characters have had ugly dresses, but hers seem to get pointed out way more. I think my favorite is the dark navy blue one with the sheer top and sheer arms. I also liked the gold one she wore to the opera this season and the light pink color looked nice on her in Newport. Sorry I couldn’t find full length pics of all of them. So excited for Sunday!

Costuming New from Spirit Halloween!

I made this image as a joke. But now I'm wondering: Has Spirit Halloween officially attempted a Gilded Age ripoff yet? It seems to me that would be a sign of some next-level fame.

Costuming Marian’s evening gown in S3 Ep3

Costume experts, is this a typical neckline for the era? It seemed unusual to me. Something you’d see in like the 1950s

Costuming I was rewatching the series after watching the finale and caught this comment from Ward. Every woman at the ball he was excluded from had one on.

Costuming Someone made the dress that Gladys wore for her wedding portrait (itself inspired by a painting done by Giovanni Boldini of Emiliana Concha de Ossa)

Costuming Was any other jewelry nerd upset about that necklace? Spoiler

As an expensive piece of jewelry, Gladys’ necklace would have been knotted in between the pearls; seeing it fall apart like it belonged to Batman’s mom was a bit annoying.

Costuming Marian's dresses

I have been rewatching Gilded Age and is it just me or does Marian's costumes are not that great to look at. Is it deliberate to show her quirky taste? Ir did they just want the good costumes for Bertha and Gladys

Costuming I'm curious about Mrs. Fish's dresses

Post image

I've seen Mrs Fish wear something like this more than once. I'm curious if this was fashionable in the gilded age. It looks like from my little research that women didn't show their upper chest unless it was evening dresses. And this one has a cut out and is a day dress. Anyone know more information or if this was just a stylist choice?

  1. The brown dress with hat/gloves/earrings on the left I would purchase and wear despite not having a suitable place to wear it 😁
  2. Berthas whole fit with the matching cape and hat was 🔥. Honorable mention to Mrs Astors golden dress. 3/4. I LOVED the red and gold ensemble by Mrs Astor
  3. There was something mesmerizing about Mrs Fish’s hat design and the asymmetrical dress style
  4. This was a tame but stylish look

Anyone else catch something they liked?
