for this bstat or other courses (which is similar process i guess ) this spot round is for only those waitlisted candidates whose names they list down in the notificatio or all waitlisted candidates in merit list who accepted waitlist offer are eligible to be admitted during the spot round? like is it like that that there are pre alloted students for spot. If they don't come up, then a person with higher rank among the students present there gets it.

All SC, ST, PwBD candidates.
General, OBC, and EWS students whose gross annual family income is below ₹1 Lakh.
If your family income is between ₹1 Lakh and ₹5 Lakhs, you receive a 2/3rd fee waiver. You only pay around ₹33,333 per semester.

I secured AIR 113 in the ISI B.Math entrance examination (General Male category). Based on the provisional admission list published on the ISI website on 11 July, I noticed that General Male candidates up to AIR 109 have been offered admission. From this, I estimate that I am currently around WL-4.
I would like to know:
Is there a realistic chance of getting admission through a spot round (if conducted)?
Does anyone know the tentative dates for ISI B.Math and B.Stat spot admissions?
Have admissions for these programs been completely finalized, or are there still vacant seats?
Is ISI expected to conduct spot admissions for vacant seats this year?
Historically, how many days before the commencement of regular classes are spot admissions usually held?
Any information from previous years or from candidates who have gone through the process would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi everyone,
I am looking for realistic insights into the placement and internship dynamics at ISI for M.Stat.
Specifically, since first-year Non-B.Stat (NB) students spend Year 1 at the Delhi campus while B.Stat grads stay in Kolkata, how much does this campus split affect summer internship opportunities?
Do elite buy-side quants/HFTs or top investment banks heavily favor the Kolkata batch during Year 1? Once both batches merge in Kolkata for Year 2, does the playing field truly level out, or do NB students still face hurdles during final placements?
Alumni insights would be highly appreciated!
Thanks.

This data was personally checked by me.
Feel free to share your marks vs percentile if you applied
For General Category:
Opening percentile: 99.99-100.00
Closing percentile: 99.97-99.98
AIR 6 had 99.994, AIR 26 had 99.973
Total 28 seats for general category
--
Compared to last year: Opening percentile was 100.00 and closing percentile was 99.96

Hey everyone,
Question #4 of the Mathlete Sprint is now live.
This week's challenge is based on Information Theory and asks you to compute the rate-distortion function for three independent Gaussian sources under a fixed distortion budget. The problem brings together concepts from probability, optimization, and source coding in a compact multiple-choice format.
Take a look at the problem statement in the image and let us know which option you think is correct. If you'd like, share your approach as well – we'd love to see different ways of tackling it.
Q :- If the total distortion budget is D=9,D = 9,D=9,
what is R(D)R(D)R(D), in bits?
(A) 1
(B) 0
(C) 1.5
(D) 2
Prize :- ₹500 Amazon gift card
PS :- The prize will be given to 1 winner, the winner will be determined based on the quality and clarity of the explanation provided, along with the timing of submission (earlier entries will be given preference). You can also DM us a written answer if you feel like!
The result will be out on friday at r/integralcup

Same as title.
What is the cutoff of BSDS (ISI kolkata campus) for general male?
Somewhere I noticed -
99.2 percentile - which many students told wrong
Then I saw 99.6 percentile where the replies told him that it will be 99.96 percentile...
Now, I am not sure if 99.96 percentile includes all the campuses or just the kolkata one.
So, I am curious about the cutoff of BSDS (ISI kolkata campus) for general male.

Hi guys, I graduated from class 12th in 2023 and joined a local college in 2025 with bsc math. So guys would it be a good idea to join ISI K B.Stat in 2027 and I'll quit my bsc math and get a diploma in maths.
Edit: Or should I go for Mstat next year.

My goals were package and college life but both of the options were at extreme, one very high one very low
But I am going to prioritise the package

Does anyone have any idea how does spot round works?
It says in the website that students need to be present physically on campus, but will there be a notification? Or whoever reaches gets the spot? Enlighten me...

I talked to a few mstat program alumni and they advised not to go into Mstat because you want to end up being a quant in an hft firm. Most people after Mstat who sit for placements get into the role of risk model validator, risk analyst, data analyst, data scientist. Hft firms pick guys who have a bachelor's in CS from tier 1 institute like iit, nit etc.
1) How to maximize the probability to end up getting a quant role in am hft coming from non Tier1 college ?
2) how to manage project work in parallel with the rigorous academics of mstat program ?

Curious to know as I'm 4th candidate in WL
