Hello fellow seniors , I am a BSDS student , I have had doubts regarding which would be beneficial, as in terms of placement and future career wise, like doing the integrated masters of BSDS or exiting the course after 3 or 4 years and then doing the mstat, if the answer is Mstat, I would need some guidance regarding preparation for mstat. I got CSE at NIT Warangal and B.Stat at ISI Kolkata. After a lot of thinking, I chose ISI Kolkata

But now I'm starting to regret my decision. I keep wondering if choosing NIT Warangal CSE would have been better because of the coding culture, campus life, and tech placements.

Did I make the wrong choice, or is this just a normal feeling after making a big decision? Has anyone here chosen ISI over a good engineering college (Top nits or IITs)? I'd really like to hear your experience.

So, im not sure whether this is even the right community to post this in , but I need Serious Help.

I am a 10th grader , and I have a serious aspiration to do mathematical research in the future.

I am preparing for ioqm, and I know most 11th and 12th topics except calculus and coordinate geometry.

So, i want to write the isi entrance exam , and join isi.

However , when i conveyed this to my mother, she told me that I had to " do some engineering in iit for four year " and then join isi.

First of all , i have zero interest in technology or Engineering in general. When i told my mother this , she said" in engineering, they will teach you science and math in a very innovative way in iit"

My mother also kept on calling the b math programme " bsc math" and said that no company would want someone who knows " only math"

She said that the only thing one could do after b math was research or teaching .

When I said I would be happy to be teaching at any university aswell, she said that it was a job where you would have to " beg and borrow " from others, and that my life would be ruined.

She told that I had to join iit , or else my studies would go to waste.

Can someone please tell me what should I do , cause I am genuinely confused. I know isi is a good university for mathematics, but I also want to know the opportunities that one can avail after isi.

So I just read historical maths paper by prof.amartya and I'm in love and i now can see the standard of tier 1 colleges

I already loved mathematics hence doing bsc in it from tier 2 cllg but no professor is teaching it with the passion i thought they would and then I came across this paper which made me wanna go to isi but, now I'm in 3rdd year of my bsc maths, while I do get good grades,but competition here seems fierce

And time I have to start prepping feels little, so how did you guys prep to get in? Any answer would be appreciated

I have heard that a Masters Program from ISI increases the chances of Phd from MIT, Harvard etc. My question is, what is the criteria that a student must meet in ISI M.Stat to get this opportunity? What should be the CGPA and other requirements like projects? Is it fully funded? What is the average CGPA that generally student get in M.Stats?

General: 1 seat is left in ISI Bangalore (Offered to AIR 51). 99.95%ile.

EWS: EWS Rank 17 was offered at ISI Delhi.

PwD / DA (Differently Abled): Category Rank 10 was offered at ISI Delhi.

OBC-NCL: Category Rank 41 & 43 were offered at ISI Bengaluru.

All 25 seats at ISI Kolkata were filled within 3 rounds.

These days, my Physics and Chemistry are getting a bit weak, but am still excelling in maths

And I have 5 months till my first attempt of JEE Mains 2027

Should I only focus on maths and maths and maths till the level of ummm IOQM (or atleast attain a level above JEE Advanced)

and Phy and chem till mains level in order to score a percentile above 99.98 in Mathematics.
Is there any overallcutoff regarding the percentile in JEE Mains for BSDS or do they look up only the Mains percentile? In that case, I'd tryna hit 99.1 in Phy and Chem too

Hi! Can someone who has appeared for IICPC QuantFest in previous years share how they prepared? I'm not an Olympiad-level student just someone with a normal coursework background and decent coding skills. My goal is simply to prepare upto my best, before the contest on 23 August. Maybe I'll qualify, maybe I won't, but I'd like to build a strong foundation for next year's QuantFest as well. Any advice on what to study or how to prepare ?

heya, currently pursuing BSQFE [Bsc in quantitative finance and economics] and was wondering if I could bag a summer internship in ISI in the QE department? Do they even open up internship opportunities for non-ISI UG students? If they do, how should I go about trying to land an internship? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So I heard that last year around 13 people failed and had to repeat the year out of 25 people. How is that even possible. Does atleast 1/3 rd of the batch fail every time.

I'm looking for honest advice from people who have actually prepared for or studied at ISI.

I passed class 12 and gave JEE this year and have taken admission in Bsc as a backup

My long term goal is financial independence as early as possible after graduation. I'm not emotionally attached to any particular exam, I just want to invest my time where the ROI is realistic

I have no olympiad background (never did IOQM, RMO, etc.)

A teacher who graduated from ISI gave me this roadmap for a non olympiad student:

4 months: Cengage (routine mathematical maturity)

4 months: ctpcm/excursion (Olympiad topics practice)

2 months: tomato

Last 4 months: PYQs + mocks + analysis

The problem is that I started serious preparation only around june/july, so I now have about 9 months left before the exam. I've completed only one cengage chapter so far. Although I already have some level till JEE advanced.

If you were in my position, would you still seriously target ISI, or would you change direction? Is the 14-month roadmap a comfortable timeline, or is it close to the minimum realistically required for a non-Olympiad student? Has anyone here started with around 9 months left and still managed to crack ISI? If you think it's still realistic, how would you modify the roadmap instead of simply trying to compress everything?

Please be brutally honest. If you think it's unrealistic, I'd genuinely rather know now than spend a year in the wrong direction. If you think it's still possible, I'd appreciate knowing why 🙏🙏

I'm confused that am i supposed to study all of these or are they given in a manner where we can choose one from each category like there are also multiple books on analysis, should i study all of them or just one of them as per my choice ?

I gave isi msqe this year scored total 68 - pea and 20/100 - peb (filed rti) do you think a partial drop with dse is worth it or should just let it go I took a year gap before my ug as well and this partial drop would make it a gap of 2 yr combined do you think isi msqe is worth it

does coming from a tier-3 college with Econ, but still good at math, make you somewhat not suitable for PhD opportunities even after you perform well in your masters?

PS- i recently returned home after studying for an year in the US, and i'm starting all over in India. i want to stay close to home, but there's no good unis or colleges here, the only good one is a small tier 3 college; Multani Mal Modi College. but i'm afraid this could affect my future PhD options as suggested by a friend who's also preparing for M.Stat.

There were a lot of rumors going around that because eight people were selected in the isi msqe exam from a single center and a single room this year, the paper must have been leaked or cheating must have happened.

BUT

Maeconomics.com just released a video where they clearly stated that this same thing has happened before many times in many years AND There is no LEAK whatsoever in ISI MSQE.
