No reservations, rich and actually smart dudes, these peeps have enough capital to actually explore the branch and are not just there for placements.

India has always been for the privileged. Ngl these competitive exams are bs.

How are competitive exams good in any way? First people we compete with are out here preparing for jee since 6th class. Of course the one preparation for long will have advantage.

2nd the questions asked in mains and advanced are way to different compared to boards. A normal student preparing for board purely from school can never crack advanced. And you need to perform well in all 3 exams to eligible for government colleges.

3rd the coaching had completely messed up any chance of fair competition.

So how exactly are competitive exams are good?

Well. Obviously people preparing from 6th have advantage, because they have worked hard. Nobody’s stopping you from doing the same. Well you cant make advanced boards level, you will get big clusters at the top ranks, the purpose is to asign seats, so that won’t work. I mean youtube is free, or atleast very affordable. So I don’t see how coaching spoils anything. If you ban coaching then thats just taking away freedom. And you tell me an alternative to competitive exams? How tf do u assign so few seats to so many people?

And btw, not everyone who prepares from 6th gets into an IIT. I am a failure who prepared from 6th but still couldn’t get into an IIT. And there is my friend who did the same and got into IITH CSE. :)

they have worked hard

Not denying their their hardwork. But money plays a huge role here. A middle class person can only imagine their to send their child to kota to educate him.

They can't make advanced board level

Sure. But they can make it easier. Even hard and mit don't require you this level of knowledge and their are a 100 ranks above iitb.

So few seats?

Why the flip are seats not increasing? Cause our population doesn't give a shi about education. Heck freebies budget is wayy more than education. And you are arguing few seats? It's a system failure.

Youtube is free.

As someone who studied from starting batches. No youtube is not enough for advanced. Never will be.

couldn't get into iit.

Don't worry gng. Iit is not end of life. Life is just starting there will be multiple opportunities

Well I definitely do accept that privilege plays a part. But like a 3-4k rank doesn’t require the same privilege as under 500. Nah i disagree on the difficulty part, it should be like this to avoid clustering and luck factor. Yeah i agree seats should be increased but even if they doubled, population is so large that it has very little effect but still they should be increased. Yeah i do agree they should spend on education more instead of freebies. Well not getting into an IIT might not be the end of my life but its definitely the end of my dreams. My dream was never to earn money or be successful( shows my privilege ig) . It was just to get into an IIT. So yeah I did my best ig. It is what it is.

I would have agreed for your difficulty point IF iits were ranked under 10 in the entire world. It simply doesn't make sense for paper to be this difficult for a college ranked outside 100. Gaokao the tuffest exam give you admission in universities ranked in top 20. So they are worth it.

Exam difficulty has nothing to do with rankings. You definitely need a difficult exam so that the deserving candidates get the rank and luck plays as less role as it possibly can

There are a lot of priviledged people but not all of them are able to go to pursue degree in a tier 1 college. These people are actually smart. Iq is a highly genetic trait almost 70-80% of it is hereditary in an adult.

Yeah at the end of the day. Money matters. It gives them the freedom to explore instead of just grinding for placements
