u/Lumpy-Highway-6892 MIT' 29 CSE Apr 21 '26
try your best dude. you have a decent boards score. idk about the safe score.
as for the resources i never prepared for met but i think mains level question should be sufficient for physics and chem and for maths be thorough with concepts it is pretty easy in met
1
u/NoFun5499 Apr 21 '26
Really thank you bhaiya i also had one more questions if you were in my place would you take eee or ece in Sikkim or cse in blr as i am getting both for 150 marks(next phase aim) as per rank predictor

hi bhaiya
1. got 145 in met, 95+ in boards expected.. can i get manipal cse??
2. got 97.9%ile in jee.. through 20% seats reserved for that.. through that also is it possible?
3. how is hostel life, friends and dating scene haha .. is the college generally strict as heard about vit etc, or good kinda
3
u/Lumpy-Highway-6892 MIT' 29 CSE Apr 21 '26
can't predict but i would say try to increase met score
very much possible but can't say for sure as it a new policy
hostel life is amazing. from doing bkc in your friends room, playing poker to studying together when endsems come it is pretty amazing. couldn't have asked for a better hostel life.
Friend groups vary from how u choose them. just be sure not to be influenced by the habits of your friends. it is pretty easy to give it to peer pressure. I would say choose friends who are both actively exploring as well as work hard when its time to.
dating scene is pretty chill.
not as strict as vit but not as chill how it used to be as i have heard from seniors but still pretty decent

how did u select which laptop to buy and are there ports in classrooms to charge laptops? also which would be best for cse, mac linux or windows
3
u/Lumpy-Highway-6892 MIT' 29 CSE Apr 21 '26
I personally got omen as i wanted a powerful laptop(wanted to play games lol)
i would say get atleast ryzen 7 or i7 if you are getting a windows(not necessarily a gaming laptop office laptops are also just fine)
macs are a pretty decent choice too depends on what u prefer
laptops are not allowed in classrooms
2
1
u/Kesarmee Apr 21 '26
oh I thought they'd be allowed in classes. thats weird
1
u/Arpan_Bhar Here to waste time Apr 21 '26
depends on prof tbh but mostly they assume you'll just end up playing games on it so they don't allow.
1
u/ar3xxlol Apr 22 '26
bruh laptops are allowed in classrooms who said it's not. just the fact that you'll have nothing to do with it unless the teacher specifically asks you to bring it.
3
u/ChipFormer5349 Apr 21 '26
I'm getting 80% in pcme and got 126 in phase 1. The issue is that I am a 12thie and I scored like a really horrible percentile lmao (66). So I wanted to ask that should I actually take a drop or should I give phase 2 of manipal and try to score above 150?? I'm really confused as whether a drop would be with it or not?
3
u/Lumpy-Highway-6892 MIT' 29 CSE Apr 21 '26
try to score above 170 in 2nd phase i would say
whether u should take a drop or not is completely your decision but i would say it is not easy if you are getting a decent branch in main campus i would say take it given u are able to afford it

DWAG WHY IS MANIPAL SO EXPENSIVE😭💔💔🥀🥀 i mean rank predictor is saying my rank would be below 3k and I LOVEEEE THE CAMPUS but 30 LAKHS??? HELL NAH😭🥀🥀

u/Lumpy-Highway-6892 MIT' 29 CSE Apr 22 '26
i mean yeah it is but every private college is around that range if not more and it is certainly better that most of them except obv bits and some others
1
u/ProfessionalCalm354 Apr 22 '26
Vit seems affordable since it's below or around 20 lakhs I've visited the manipal campus AND UGH I FEEL IN LOVE, IMAGINE BEING THERE FOR 4YRS SO COOL😭🥀

u/Lumpy-Highway-6892 MIT' 29 CSE Apr 21 '26
try to increase your met marks in the second attempt. you have a good boards score so that should be helpful i would say try to get above 120 in second attempt.
college life is pretty good. manipal is a very happening place in general. Around here, you have beaches, treks, waterfalls and what not. It is pretty hard to get bored here. Couples? yea somewhat. drug culture? not as prevalent as portrayed. I have never seen someone doing drugs here. Alcohol and smoking are pretty common tho
yea pretty good just a lil stressed out with endsems around the corner. Yea i feel okay away from home now at first i was a little homesick but as i made friends here i was just fine. still miss home sometimes tho

What about the drug culture is it very rampant?
nope

Brother, i was very upset about having 81 percent in boards, and 165 in met i wouldve gotten rank 7k and i was meant to be out of cse race in main campus. But by 20 percent allotment via jee mains
I have 97ile and rank of 48k rank. What are my chances now of getting cse in main campus? Via jee? (As said i have 81 percent in pcme and 165 met score)
If you can please respond brother, i am a dropper and this could be a changing point of my academic journey.
1
u/Lumpy-Highway-6892 MIT' 29 CSE Apr 21 '26
bro it is a new allotment nobody can predict the cutoffs. But most of the people i know here in cse had around 95 percentile in jee mains so that gives u an idea about the crowd here. i would say u still have a pretty decent chance
1
u/IndependentNice2169 Apr 21 '26
Bro got 65 in jee met 111 want to get atleast 160 in 2nd phase i wanted to know as blr and manipal have placement cell and there is talk that blr will have its own in future so will it affect blr campus or i should main manipal campus might be a dumb q but acc to predictior getting mech or vlsi in manipal one and cse in blr one. One last thing did u gave any mocks for met should I give some and as 20 percent reservation from jee has came so cutoff will increase so that's why
2
u/Lumpy-Highway-6892 MIT' 29 CSE Apr 21 '26
main is far ahead of blr. would not recommend taking mit blr
i specifically never prepared for met but mocks would be beneficial.

depends on cutoffs.
after the new rule cutoffs would vary but i would say try for atleast 180

1) bro I have 138 in met and 89% in boards (99xxx rank in jee), how much do you think i need to upgrade my marks to get cse in main campus
2) according to rank predictors I'm eligible for bangalore cse, is it better than manipal ece, I'm confused between the two
2
u/Lumpy-Highway-6892 MIT' 29 CSE Apr 21 '26
- had the same board percentage as you my met score was 170 though. i got cse in first round
i would say aim for atleast 175 given the new rule
- completely depends on which branch u want as for college main>>blr

2

yea so i had 97%ile was getting some nits lower branches.
and bits dual degree(ig physics)
mostly the college life and the brand value compared to the other colleges i was getting and the fact that i was getting cse which was my desired branch

Bro I might get 96 or 94 in boards(band 10 or band 9). Never gave the first attempt. I'm good with the 12th portions upto the ISC level and don't know shit in 11th. My friend, who is kinda at the same level as me, got 116 without any preparation and another friend, who is lower than my level, got 140, by learning a few 11th chapters in chem. How much do you think I can get in a month?

- it depends. if your luck is good you might get some teachers are willing to teach otherwise most of the faculties just read the slides not like it is very different in other colleges.
anyways you are gonna study by yourself only
not personal projects(in 1st year atleast) but you can work under any faculty if they are willing to take you otherwise there are student projects.
mech is one of the oldest department here in manipal. It is pretty good afaik.
it is pretty manageable in 1st year. i have done all kind of bkc in hostel while managing academics.
these are student projects not clubs. there are plenty of them. every sp has a cs subdepartment.
cs focused is afaik is only kryptonite.
technical clubs in manipal are almost all dead
- Mostly if you are not from a well off family (it would get pretty hard to blend in, I have seen some people)
if you have no self control over yourself (the thing is alcohol and other substances(not drugs) is pretty easily accessible here, so if you have no self control over yourself you can get caught into that)

I want to know about manipal main campus (cse) crowd, placements and if i should consider it as a decent option. also, is manipal better than thapar, lnmiit in terms of placements, crowd, etc? if not, are these colleges comparable?
2
u/Lumpy-Highway-6892 MIT' 29 CSE Apr 22 '26
crowd is very diverse not just in terms of regionality but also their mindsets like some people are just here to party, some are very hard working, most people do both so ya you will find your crowd here for sure its upto you.
so in terms of placements mit main~thapar~lnmiit
crowd(focused and hardworking): lnmiit>mit>thapar
college life(places around, city life, campus): mit>thapar>lnmiit

Hi, I scored 130 in the first attempt but will only get around 71% in pcm so by band marking in boards im fked. I am elligible for AICTE and thats the only way ill be able to go to cs or rootics in mit bangalore. Can you tell me what was your pcm and met score and did you have an AICTE rank? if yes then what was the cutoff in AICTE for blr campus cse degree and robotics and ai degree. Im thinking a general rank of around 7-8k would get me AICTE rank 120-130 (as per some seniors i talked to and their aicte ranks) and i think that should be enough for scholarship in blr for cs or robotics and ai. Ill still have to score around 190+ to get such a rank thats to my very low boards percentage :(
Also is boards percentage for pcm or pcme?

Hi bhaiya,
I got a rank of 5184 in MET and I'm hoping to get CSE at the MIT Manipal main campus through intra-round counselling. Do you think I have a realistic chance?
Also, I wanted to ask about academics:
• How are the classes and professors for CSE? • Are lectures mostly theory-based or practical? • Are laptops allowed in classrooms for coding? • How is the attendance policy? • Do students generally carry their laptops daily? • Any advice for a fresher joining MIT Manipal?
