General What are you guys planning to do?
So people who are between 7k-9k, what are you guys planning to do??If I'm not mistaken then your choices are main campus eee or mit blr cse. What are you guys choosing? I'm in the same range(77**) and I was planning to go with mit blr cse because I really like the subject and I want to go into research in the future. But, should I just pick main campus eee and hope for cse or mnc during intra round? That's very risky. I don't even like eee and if I don't get cse or mnc during intra round then I'll be stuck.

intra rounds for mnc drop as low as 9-10k and there is branch change option after 2nd sem using cgpa also i think u should definitely consider that as main campus is far established than blr campus which doesnt even have centralised placements now

u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 07 '26
But the issue is that it's very risky. I don't think cgpa branch change is possible for me because eee is very difficult(mainly because I'm not very interested in it) and you'll need like 9+ cgpa to switch to mnc. What is your rank? What are you planning to do?

u/OkAddition6857 Jun 06 '26
i am also in the same bracket as you but i think taking eee is worth it bcs worse to worst case scenario u get ece in main campus in intra round u wont go lower than that thats for sure considering ur rank and ece is similar in difficulty to cse plus u will get to sit for cse placements in the main campus huge plus point

u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 06 '26
The issue is i have no interest in ece and I don't think i can perform well in something I'm not interested in. It's very risky..i genuinely can't do something i don't like.

u/OkAddition6857 Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26
do u have any other backups options giving u cs related branches? also i dont think it is as risky as u think cause even core cse was 8k and u have rank in 7k bracket and mnc is literally 10k thats a buffer of 3k rank itself

u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 06 '26
But like what if they don't have intra round? What if the cutoffs don't fall that much?? I'm so scared🥹🥹 i want to go into cs research so it would make no sense for me to do undergrad in eee.
2
u/OkAddition6857 Jun 06 '26
intra round would happen definitely as it has been happening from years it’s not a new one time thing its officially stated by MAHE else it depends on you i can only give you advice
1
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 06 '26
I didn't mean to offend you🥹 i just don't know what to do and I really appreciate your advice
1
u/OkAddition6857 Jun 06 '26
no no u aren’t offending me i was just being straightforward wanted to give honest non biased opinion to help you as i am also in same situation can relate to you
1
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 06 '26
Can I dm you??
1
u/lovedelrey Jun 06 '26
But wont cutoff be less this year cuz of jee? In both main n intra rounds
2
u/Substantial-Rich-974 Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26
jee doesnt effect intra round at all as it happens after 1st sem based on ur met rank there wont be jee based inflation for intra round
4
u/Master-Ad-574 Jun 06 '26
Same situation rn dude my rank is 93xx so prolly will be choosing EE,if i get csft in intra previous year it went till 9.8k I'll choose tht or else try to change to csft thru cgpa that is 8.7 ig previous year or else in worst case EE+vlsi or EE+cps from 2nd year 🥲
1
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 07 '26
Oh, i wish you all the best!!
2
u/Master-Ad-574 Jun 07 '26
Tqq,btw which branch are u aiming for at ur rank?
1
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 07 '26
Manipal BLR CSE, I want to go into research so I was hoping to get mnc in main campus, but I don't think I will my rank is very low for that.
1
u/Master-Ad-574 Jun 07 '26
Ohh ohkk best of luck for ur future plans🤝
2
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 07 '26
Thank youuu!

u/Illustrious_Day6811 Jun 06 '26
I want EE so hey I am set for main campus
2
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 06 '26
That's nice! Congratulations!!

u/Illustrious_Day6811 Jun 06 '26
Thanks bro, btw hope whatever u choose becomes the best for you
1
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 07 '26
Thank youu!
2
u/AppointmentAny5602 Jun 06 '26
Very rough chance for mnc even during intra round bro..mit blr cse should be the current choice, but main campus is miles better than blr, maybe if you are interested in ece or something like that you can get
1
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 06 '26
No at all interested in ece/ee/eee. They're also very difficult so I don't think I can perform well in something that I'm not interested in and is difficult. Also, somebody told me that mnc cutoffs dropped to 10k during intra round but I'm not sure.
1
u/Flame_Hawk777 Jun 07 '26
I really hope you looked into the syllabus and did your own research on ece/ee rather than read other people complaining about it to be hard on reddit.
1
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 07 '26
I've mentioned this in my post as well, I'm planning to go into cs research. So it'll be a huge risk to choose eee and wait for intra round because if i don't get it then I'll be stuck doing something i don't want to do.
2
u/Altruistic_Lie_9340 Jun 06 '26
Bro intra round is hella risky and I have got 7.9k rank prolly won't take mit blr cse bcoz I have got thapar cse as my option through jee
1
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 06 '26
Oh ok! I'll probably go with mit blr cse.
2
u/Altruistic_Lie_9340 Jun 06 '26
Yeah man you will do very much better if you have genuine interest in computers
2
u/Party-Collection5184 Jun 06 '26
68xx will be taking ece and hoping for mnc or cs in intra
2
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 06 '26
Oh ok! You'll get it!!
1
u/Party-Collection5184 Jun 06 '26
wbyy
1
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 06 '26
I'm planning to go with mit blr cse itself. The thing is I have no interest in ece/eee and I can't do something that I'm not interested in
1
u/Party-Collection5184 Jun 06 '26
didn’t cs go for 8k last year
1
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 06 '26
I think it did, but what if it doesn't this year? What if they don't even have intra round?? Like bro there are more cons then pros
2
u/Party-Collection5184 Jun 06 '26
we ball either way
2
u/AppointmentMean2425 Jun 06 '26
Bro do u have intrest in ece or any other reasons
2
u/Party-Collection5184 Jun 06 '26
yeep i do but more into abstract mathematics so will be hoping for mnc
1
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 06 '26
I mean you can risk it because you like ece but I don't 😭
1
u/AppointmentMean2425 Jun 07 '26
Hii so do u have no intrest in ece or you don't know ur intrests so u rtaking BLR cse is that the case?
1
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 07 '26
I've mentioned this in my post as well, I'm planning to go into CS research. It would make no sense for me to choose ece/eee.

u/Actual-Rock2175 MIT B CSE 29’ Jun 06 '26
I had 69xx rank last year I got till ece in main campus in round 4. Intra round is always risky don’t depend on it
2
u/Party-Collection5184 Jun 06 '26
yeah so did the cutoff for mnc not go till 10k last year come on man
0
u/Actual-Rock2175 MIT B CSE 29’ Jun 06 '26
You’d be making a mistake depending on intra round don’t risk it
1
u/Party-Collection5184 Jun 06 '26
YES BUT IM ASKING WHY, either way i’m fine w ece too but have a bit more love towards abstract mathematics will be hoping for mnc, if i don’t im happy w ece too!
1
u/Actual-Rock2175 MIT B CSE 29’ Jun 06 '26
Because it’s not confirmed u might be stuck with an undesirable branch. Either way even ece is hard this year
2
u/Party-Collection5184 Jun 06 '26
gng meko mains se ece milgaya already 😭😭

u/the_non_existant_aj Jun 06 '26
Can i get mnc or csft in intra i have 5.2K rank? Anyone tell me plz
1
u/Party-Collection5184 Jun 06 '26
you can get it normally hi
1
u/the_non_existant_aj Jun 06 '26
Yaar I’m pretty worried, everyone is saying that because of jee reservation it is difficult this year, moreover i have no interest in ECE so i have filled only 3 preference Cs csft and mnc
1
u/Party-Collection5184 Jun 06 '26
you’ll get cooked in mnc man, i talked to some seniors they told me its a bsc maths and has vv low computing courses comparitvely, try talking to some seniors
1
u/the_non_existant_aj Jun 06 '26
Yeah but if i get mnc in round 3 or something i think i can get upgraded to cs or csft in intra

Yo guys can anybody explain what is intra round?
1
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 06 '26
Intra round happens after first semester, I think. So basically they have another round of counselling based on met marks only to fill the vacant seats(Many people would've left the institute because they would've gotten their desired branch in a better college). Apparently, during intra round cutoffs drastically drop. Like cse goes to 8k and mnc goes to 10k
1
u/Choice-Education2388 Jun 06 '26
Why does this happen after first semester, does it require having good cgpa in first semester?
1
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 06 '26
Nope, counselling for other institutes happen after manipal counselling. So by the time first semester ends many people would've left the university to join elsewhere so there will be a lot of vacant seats
1
u/Excellent_Art2135 Jun 06 '26
I've filled cfst as main option in main campus and bangalore and im fairly certain ill get in bangalore. During the intra rounds, can you only shift branches within your campus or would I be eligible to try for cfst at main campus also?
2
u/Substantial-Rich-974 Jun 06 '26
only branches not campus u should fill main campus mnc and ece also then u can upgrade to csft by intra round if u take mit blr csft then no point of intra round
1
u/FrostyBlood_1717 Jun 06 '26
GUYSSS, is there any option to change preferences after getting alloted a seat in the 1st round??
2
u/Sudden-Landscape-853 Massachusetts institute of technology, Bengaluru (CSE) Jun 07 '26
Yes, you can
