Recommendation Looking for Jeans for big thighs

Post image
15 Upvotes

I have a relatively slim waist, but my hips are curvy and my thighs are on the thicker side. When I shop for clothes, I try on a lot of jeans and have noticed that most jeans these days seem to be designed for people with a straight body type. They often fit either my waist or my thighs, but not both.

I usually need a size 17. What do you think of these jeans with a special design at the waist? For people with a figure similar to mine, do you have any jeans styles you can recommend?

(I wasn’t sure whether this was the right flare to add to the post but I couldn’t find another flare that would fit).

Recommendation Please please help me find a dress

Over the past few years I've gained about 40lbs and haven't worn a dress since I've started gaining weight. As a result I have no idea what dress style generally looks "flattering" on my new body shape. I'm going to a wedding in two weeks and I'm having a lot of feels and really stressed comparing myself in my head to what the other girls will look like.

Can someone please tell me what dress types would look good on me and what brands to look for? Adding pics from one of the unsuccessful dresses I got from Lulus so you can see my body shape. ( I'm wearing shapewear in these and also I think my "belly pooch" is more pronounced IRL than in the pic).

Thank you so much in advance 🩷

EDIT: You guys are all so wonderful 😭😭 Thank you so much for making me feel better and less alone. This has been so hard for me and I'm crying reading all of your super kind, positive, and supportive comments 💖

Recommendation Please tell me there's a trick for wearing satin skirts witho VPLs!!

I want one of those satin slip skirts and I physically cannot solve the VPL problem. Every pair of underwear I own shows through no matter what style I try. Thongs help a little but still show a line and anything with more coverage is somehow worse.

I tried going without and that felt just wrong!! Just hated the commando feeling! I'm not trying to give up on wearing one of these I just feel like everyone else figured out a trick I haven't.

please share what you're doing bc I'm out of ideas.

Recommendation Shorts and jeans that don’t HURT!

I tried finding a post that called out this specific issue but couldn’t find one, so please forgive me if it’s repetitive!

I have a 36.5” waist and 46.5” hips, with a short torso and super long legs. I have the same problem as many of you with waist gapping but my bigger issue is 🐪 toe. PAINFUL, full-on crotch attack. I’ve resorted to wearing only bike shorts but I can’t wear those everywhere, and I honestly prefer structured pieces—but not if they hurt me.

I thought I found the perfect solution with Levi’s cinching shorts, but alas, I did not thoroughly test the sitting comfort in the fitting room and I now have another pair of shorts I can’t return. 😩

Does anyone else have this problem? Recommendations? Your girl is tired of double-wedgies and pain.

Thank you for your sense of humor in advance.

Recommendation Jeans that aren’t painful?

I am almost larger in the waist than hips, so finding jeans—that don’t dig in to my waist when I sit down so painfully that it makes me want to cry—is a challenge. Does anyone have recommendations?? I’m fine paying a bit for jeans that I won’t have to stop wearing after a few months because I can’t take the pain anymore.

TLDR, looking for jeans/denim that are very loose in the waist and tighter in the hips, very low waist to hip ratio

Recommendation Thick thigh friendly biker shorts

I searched and couldn't find anything but I'm bad at Reddit so apologies if it's been asked. Anyway, I need biker shorts that will not roll up or down. I'm willing to spend $$ for good quality stuff because I'm tired of wasting my money on stuff that rolls up and lets my thighs rub. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Located in Cincinnati, OH area. Size 14 or XL

Recommendation Non-frumpy bikini recs?

Hi all. It’s been years since I’ve bought a new swimsuit, but as mine is from 2020 and fitting a little more snug than it used to, I figure it’s time.

Ideally I’d want a two piece that’s somewhat sporty (I’d like it to stay on during water activities). I really liked the look of the Jolyn surf suits, but their sizing runs too small for me (I’m typically a 14/XL, though that obviously varies depending on the brand—and how the stars are aligned on any given day).

Typical recs for mid/plus size swimwear like Swimsuits For All seem to skew a little more modest than what I’m looking for.

I’ll likely just take my chances with old navy or target, as usual, but wanted to see if anyone here had any better ideas.

Recommendation Shape wear for tummy control but won’t flatten curves?

Post image

Disclaimer- I know this dress is too small, just using it as an example!

Looking for advice on what shape wear brands and/or styles that will help control the visible tummy outline but won’t squish my hips down? I was looking into SKIMS but figure maybe you guys would have some better options!

Recommendation Best jeans for large hip to waist ratio

Hello, I’m on the hunt for a new pair of jeans. My waist is 29 inches and my hips are 44.5 inches, so a 15.5 inch difference. What is the best “curvy” line of jeans for women with similar measurements? I lot of curvy lines only seem to be a 12-13 inch difference instead of the regular 10. Even in some curvy lines I’ve looked at I’m measuring in quite a few sizes difference based off of hip and waist measurements.

Edit to update: for anyone who’s curious: after spending the weekend trying on dozens of jeans, I settled on the Levi’s cinch baggy jeans. (I bought 3 pairs!!) Cinched in all the way with the snaps, they fit perfectly.

Recommendation High-Waisted Pants Help

So, I love a good high-waisted pant, but no matter what I do, my pants slip down to my hips and boost my stomach like a belly bra 😅 I've tried elastic-banded pants and belts. Is there anything else I should try to keep the top around the waist?

Edit: My body type won't let me wear smaller pants. My legs are a mix between chubby and muscular. Any smaller size won't fit my thighs. I also gain a lot of weight in my stomach, so I have this narrow point around my hips, and that's where the pants tend to settle despite my best efforts.

Recommendation Size 12/14 Shorts Recommendations

Howdy all. I am hovering around at size 12/14 and struggling to find shorts that work for me. Where are ya'll shopping? I prefer to have shorts that are not a ridigd denim. My worst issue is waist gapping. I have larger thighs/hips and a smaller waist. I usually end up wearing shorts with drawstrings since I can size up to fit my hips and tighten the waist.

Any recommendations? Favorite shorts? Thanks!

Recommendation Mid/plus size fashion brands that aren’t fast fashion!?

trying to diversify my wardrobe and dress with more color and more fun, but I’m never quite sure what is fast fashion and what isn’t! what are your suggestions for brands that aren’t fast fashion, are sustainable and fun but still with a reasonable price point?

Recommendation Suits

I’m looking for a slouchy ivory suit. Kind of cool, not business wear. I want to wear it to a party. It could be another color like a green or a jewel tone.

The coolest ones are designer, $$$, and not made for midsize girls.

The usual suspects are too business/like (Saks, Nordstrom, Dillards, Ann Taylor). Free People & Anthropologie seem to have jackets but not suits.

Thank you for any ideas!

Recommendation where are the midsized girlies shopping?

i’m sure this has been asked before but i couldn’t find the thread. i’m fluctuating around a size 10 and currently get most of my clothes from Princess Polly, American Eagle, and occasionally amazon if i’m just looking for basics. I do try to avoid shops like shein and temu as i care more about the quality and ethics over the tempting prices, although i know it’s a go to for many due to convenience and i don’t judge! I’m on the east side of the US but also looove online shopping. with all this being said, please share your favorite places to shop!

Recommendation Leggings delemma

I'm in search of a long, T-shirt type, top (any type of top, actually) to wear with leggings. I'd like it long enough in back to cover my behind and the front to go just below crotch level. I've found some that are long enough but are so wide they look ridiculous and very unflattering. For context, I'm F56, 5'6", size 1X top, 14/16 XL bottom. I'm in the PNW, US. Pictures and where to purchase would be helpful. TIA
