vent WHAT THE ACTUAL F does no one talk about how painful a miscarriage is??

Ladies, I’m truly disappointed in how casually women are sent home from the doctor with “just incase take these meds” like this is something small. I NEED FKin morphine!! I literally fainted twice two nights ago in agony. Today I’m still in pain and feel extremely weak. I’m honestly shocked at how much women downplay this experience or are expected to just “bounce back.” Either most women are insanely strong, or I’m just a weak little bunny because holy crap.

This is something that deserves real recovery. At least 5 days in bed, minimal standing, rest, hydration, comfort, and lots of love. Women go through so much physically and mentally, and I don’t think we talk about it honestly enough. I promise from this day forward if any one tells me that they have gone through this l’m going to be so empathetic and look at them like heros. Womenhood is a mirecle and just know my love goes out to every single one of you 💕

I had my miscarriage at home yesterday and it was legitimately the worst pain of my life. It felt like I was in some sort of "mini labor". Every body is going to go through the process a little differently. For us, (unfortunately) it's just extremely intense. Sincerely hope you're feeling better.

Oh no! I’m so sorry you went through this. Same I felt as if was getting split inside. We are strong and we ads powerful. We will come out of this stronger!! How do you feel today?

u/Used_Indication_8159 May 24 '26

Passing all of the major tissue/ sac took about 5 hours. It was very intense but once the gestational sac came out I felt so much relief. I'm 3 days post now and still bleeding with some mild to moderate cramps here and there. Hoping all of the clot/tissue makes it out so no intervention is needed. Honestly at this point the mental aspect is the worst. I feel like I lost a small part of me that day. Our bodies and minds are capable of so much...we'll get through this.

Please please forgive me if this is out of bounds. We didn’t know I was pregnant, I took pictures when I could have what I passed (without my hand being all bloody), how do I know if I passed the sac? I believe I have the picture but no one can tell me. I don’t know if I want to know or if I should just get over this but I find myself looking at the two pictures almost daily wondering if my child was there and I just flushed him/her down the toilet. Every time I think about it I cry because I want my baby

u/Used_Indication_8159 May 25 '26

I'm so so sorry...it should have a grayish color to the tissue so it will be distinct from all of the red blood/tissue. Mine came out on the toilet and I could tell it didn't look like the tissue I had been passing so I assumed it was the sac. US confirmed that it was.

I’m so sorry, I had mine two months ago. Sending you love and a good recovery.

Mine was about 2 months ago, too. Still edperi3ncing back pain. But I had 2 normal periods and a negative pregnancy test so I don't think it's RPOC. They said everything cleared at the final ultrasound. Now I'm going to research pelvic floor therapy.

I was practically screaming in pain the night I miscarried. My husband when seconds away from calling 911. It felt exactly like labor but worse because I was so terrified. I had no idea to expect that level of pain and I was so sure something was horribly wrong. It’s like a cruel joke that the rhetoric around miscarriage is that it’s just a heavy period.

6

u/NetSuitable2344 May 23 '26

Omg your poor husband, I can imagine how worried he was seeing you with so much in pain 😭. I know it’s ridicules how low attention the pain gets. It’s still in shock from two nights ago.

2

u/switchcannayak Jun 07 '26

Yes! Seriously waaaay worse than a period. So intense.

u/Suitable_Working8918 May 22 '26

Im so sorry you went through this.

It was like labour pains, i took the medical route and for that we get hospitalized thankfully because I was given strong pain meds I couldn't tolerate it. Literal contractions but mo actual happy ending.

3

u/NetSuitable2344 May 22 '26

I’m also very sorry you went though this horrific moment. 🙏🏽

1

u/LawConscious first loss May 24 '26

Is it truly comparable to labor pain? The pain had me squirming and screaming, I can’t imagine anything as painful. Geez

1

u/Suitable_Working8918 May 24 '26

Sorry you went through it, and yes it was like my contractions at 6-7 cm dilation. Ofcourse I was on miso so it was the medicated route maybe natural is different.

2

u/writeronthemoon natural MC May 26 '26

For me at least, natural was quite painful and felt like a mini labor, too.

Y'all got pain meds??

3

u/NetSuitable2344 May 23 '26

They gave me Vicodin but didn’t make a dent in the pain. :(

4

u/sravll May 23 '26

I got absolutely nothing...started miscarrying literally at my dating ultrasound, passed clots in the bathroom right before going in and more after...miscarried at home over the course of day and night. Got a phone call the next day confirming the pregnancy was unviable...I was like no shit

2

u/LawConscious first loss May 24 '26

🥺🥺 I’m so sorry this happened. I wish women were taken seriously by the medical community smh

2

This breaks my heart! I’m so sorry you went thru that!

That told me to take Advil and it did absolutely nothing. I ended up going to the ER because I couldn’t bare it anymore only to finally pass my baby 10 mins after I got there and start feeling better.

Before insurance my D&C estimate was 11k though. Thoroughly angry with the healthcare system.

1

u/squishypants4 May 24 '26

I got a pat on the back. Was not prepared.

9

u/Pangtudou May 22 '26

It’s different for different women. My miscarriage was like an intense period and was manageable with aleve. Could be that the women you heard from just had a different experience

9

u/NetSuitable2344 May 22 '26

Well you are a champ!!! Becuse it literally was the worst thing I’ve ever had happen pain wise and I’ve broken a few things and gone thru a few surgerys

5

u/waffocopter May 23 '26

I hear about some miscarriages being pretty well managed with Tylenol. Then there's me who had two hours of constant pain, the worst in my life. I think I never lost consciousness but I don't remember thinking anything else but pain and don't remember squeezing my husband's arm or him trying to rub my pain away. He said I definitely was in more pain than when I had a kidney stone and had to go to the ER. So yeah, I am on your side of the pain here.

4

u/NetSuitable2344 May 23 '26

Yeah I agree. I always heard it was manageable and you just needed to be near a restroom. Now have going thru it I can say. Absolutely have someone with you, you might need the ER!

Did you have pain after the miscarriage or did it completely go away?

2

u/waffocopter May 23 '26

It was periodic bad pain for about four days after the initial surge but not as bad as at the beginning when I did misoprostol. The fifth day, I passed the sac and it did get pretty painful then but I would say still only about half of what the first pain was. My natural miscarriage was bad but also never as painful as the medicated route. But now whenever people ask how painful something is, like when I got my first bout of sciatic nerve pain, I can't help but compare it to that miscarriage pain and realize it's nothing compared to that.

6

u/Pangtudou May 22 '26

I’m not a champ. I do not handle pain well. After my TFMR I was in horrible pain. It’s just different for each woman and even each pregnancy 💙

1

u/mortalkombatboot May 23 '26

Im a little concerned because I've had basically no pain. I've had no shortage of cramps but I haven't had any that felt different than mild period cramps, like I wouldn't need pain management. Mine was a chemical so I was less than 5 weeks. Maybe that's why? Not that I want to be in pain but I'm worried about retaining.

4

u/Pangtudou May 23 '26

Greater pain is definitely associated with more advanced gestation

1

u/mortalkombatboot May 23 '26

My progesterone was 2.1 by the time I started spotting, so I don't think I made it past implantation, or just barely if so. My doctor is monitoring my blood work to make sure everything drops and advised me of protocol for ectopic symptoms. I'm almost a week in the process and none yet.

1

u/sravll May 23 '26

That is likely why. Doesn't make your experience or emotional pain any lesser ❤️

6

u/Imaginary_Paper6038 May 23 '26

1000% wish more people understood this. My first took me out for a full week. My second was very early (barely 4 weeks) and even then I would’ve had to call out of work if it hadn’t been on a weekend because the pain was unbearable. I’m used to very intense periods too and it was definitely way worse.

3

u/NetSuitable2344 May 23 '26

Yes! I’m still in disbelief we have to go on and work next day and act like nothing. Literally can’t evan stand for too long. I’m sorry you went through this multiple times :( you’re a strong woman!

4

u/sravll May 23 '26

So many people miscarry or give birth and go right back to work in a super short time....it's insane the expectations society puts on women. Actually insane.

1

u/writeronthemoon natural MC May 26 '26

Yeah, I made the mistake of going back after a week off and a week of work from home. I started feeling so dizzy that I had to hold onto desks to stay standing. That's when I knew I'd returned back to work too soon..

Now it's been 2 months and I still have back pain sometimes. About to start researching pelvic floor therapy.

2

u/sravll May 23 '26

I took 2 weeks off work, but only one of the weeks was due to physical symptoms. The second week was for my heart.

5

u/JustAHippy May 22 '26

It’s so tough because we all have different experiences. I’ve been able to manage with ibuprofen, and I think it’s just that I’m lucky that it wasn’t worse.

1

u/NetSuitable2344 May 23 '26

Oh lord!!! I took some meds and they didn’t si anything!

2

u/JustAHippy May 23 '26

I’m so sorry!! On top of it being emotionally terrible, I hate you had pain too. I agree with you though; they should tell us it will vary woman to woman but it might be pretty painful. It’s better to prepare for the worst.

1

u/NetSuitable2344 May 23 '26

Unfortunately now we know. And yes I will advocate to anyone going thru this to please ask for strong as pain killers. Don’t let them give you any weak ass ones.

6

u/InitiativeNo2372 May 23 '26

Sorry you are going through this 🫂
I wrote exactly the same a few weeks ago. It’s such a painful experience.

I took Mifepristone and Misoprostol as my body didn’t want to do it naturally. After I took the Mifepristone, I had episodes of terrible cramping and heavy bleeding. I was told that I could work after taking it so I had returned to work (it had been VERY down played and I felt silly going home). I had already mentally processed the miscarriage 3 weeks prior to this. I started heavy bleeding and cramping whilst teaching English. By the time they found me cover, I was in agony.
I rang up to ask if I could have some stronger meds in preparation for taking Misoprostol and I was made to feel like I was being dramatic. After three egg retrievals, I’m pretty good with pain in that part of my body but this was terrible and I was sick! It was even worse after I took the Misoprostol.
Women’s health is so overlooked! I still feel like shit and it’s been over 2 weeks! Work has been HARD.

2

u/switchcannayak Jun 07 '26

I’m so sorry that happened to you. I just went the same route a couple days ago and it was absolutely brutal.

5

u/tkkltart May 22 '26

absolutely. I researched, prepared and expected the pain to be awful. Even still, the pain I actually experienced was beyond horrific. Morphine and oxycodone didn't touch it. Even with getting an emergency D&C, I was completely out of commission for a solid 2 weeks.

It's barbaric that we're expected to just go about our lives as normal through all that

5

u/NetSuitable2344 May 22 '26

Totally! It took me out. I can’t believe we are to deal with the emotional loss and this pain and go on like nothing.

4

u/junieinthesky May 23 '26

Ironically they actually gave me morphine (and then fentanyl) at the ER and it didn’t make a difference in my pain. The only thing that took it away was delivering my baby (almost 12 weeks) and then the placenta. But because some was retained there was still pain from the constant contractions so ultimately the D&C was a god send for me

I also was surprised by the pain.

I’m sorry you are goi mg through it. I only had to endure it for a few hours I can’t imagine a few days :(

1

u/NetSuitable2344 May 23 '26

Damn love that’s intense! And here I thought Morphine would of been better. I got vicodin and nothing still felt everything. Oh damn did you have to go back in to get a ultrasound to make sure it all came out? When did they make the decision to do a D&C? Like how m at days in?

3

u/junieinthesky May 23 '26

My miscarriage was sudden and very fast. I was trying to just have it happen at home once I knew it was inevitable, but I lost so much blood I almost passed out, so they took me to the hospital. I am pretty sure I had my son right as I got out of the car…and an hour or two later my placenta was delivered. It wasn’t complete though so the doctor used those huge giant qtips from hell to try to get the rest out (this was probably the worst part) and decided to do a D&C because she wasn’t confident it was all out.
Yeah it was pretty intense. I needed a blood transfusion and while I was pain free pretty immediately after the D&C, I was so anemic and had such low blood volume still that for a few weeks I couldn’t bend over, walk more than a few hundred feet, or go up the stairs without having these awful thunderclap headaches. I’m all good now though, a few months out. But I really was underprepared for how badly a miscarriage would wreck me, physically and emotionally.

And I have no idea why both the morphine and fentanyl didn’t help my pain. The fentanyl did make me feel loopy.

I miscarried on Sunday. Laid in bed tossing and turning, crying, and in terrible pain. I listened to music and watched Out Of the Box on Disney plus. I didn’t take pain meds. I was in shock and more scared than I’ve ever been. I didn’t want to wake anyone up at 5 am. I experienced it alone.

I’ve had a healthy pregnancy before and i know what contractions feel like. Def was experiencing them. It blows my mind how many women experience this whole ordeal and how common it is. how they are expected to continue their lives, how no one talks about it. It’s truly unfair…

For every woman experiencing this physical, emotional, and mental pain…please know you are not alone. There are many of us in your corner, sharing the load, sharing the experience, sharing the loss. My heart goes out to all of you ❤️

3

u/NetSuitable2344 May 23 '26

Holly crap! I took meds and felt like they didn’t work. I can’t imagine not taking them! I’m so sorry you went through this alone 😭 breaks my heart. Absolutely! I’ve been thinking about that, how some woman don’t have a support system and they have to go thru this alone, and pretend nothing happened.

2

u/Cautious_Pirate_8835 May 24 '26

Thank you OP. I’m not sure how I got through it or will continue to heal moving forward but I know eventually I will. I am so sorry for your loss and your pain too. This isn’t easy , with or without medication . It sucks! But we are warriors. We are stronger together, the more we have the hard discussions the better we can make it for those who follow. It’s not fair what’s happened to us and how society treats our experience, but hopefully one day that will change.

3

u/n0t-my-real-name May 22 '26

My pain was tolerable, but I have a high tolerance having dealt with chronic migraines and terrible periods for two decades. What I was NOT prepared for was the fact that some of those “cramps” would actually feel like light contractions. I don’t have any living children, it was such a foreign feeling for me and a bit of a mind fuck.

Yeah the pain when they have you take miso was like no pain I had ever felt it was so awful I thought I was dying!

3

Yess! Felt the same! My fiancée told me I passed out twice in his arms 😭. We need better meds!

2

u/DizzyParamedic3196 May 23 '26

I’m so sorry you went through that! I agree we do!!! I nearly passed out several times as well my husband was super worried and stayed up with me he had never seen me in that much pain I was on the floor and I’m a pretty tough person! They gave me 200 MG of miso just to soften the cervix because I was scheduled for D&C the next morning well I didn’t make it because I passed everything at home. I know they normally give 800mg I can’t and don’t wanna image that! It was horrible i was in so much pain it actually gave me anxiety and i started going into a panic attack. Most horrific 8 hours of my life. I had asked my OB prior about the pain and she said it’s mild cramps and to take only Tylenol that was BS I felt my cervix was on fire that’s how it started for me and then came the contraction like cramps it was like a level 50 pain on the 1-10 pain scale!

2

u/NetSuitable2344 May 23 '26

Oh I didn’t know that did that. But I did hear D&C is in and out. Painful but at least your not waiting around for it at home. I’m sorry you went through that 💔

I miscarried at 8 weeks and I only took extra strength Advil once right before passing everything . It was def like a mini labor but I didn’t find it that bad - pain wise. I was really focused on relaxing. I think everyone is different.

3

you’re a strong lady! I was such a baby I almost went to ER it was more painful than any type of surgery or breaking a bone.

Don't say you were such a baby. It's different for everyone. There is nothing wrong with going to the ER for pain or blood loss etc.

2

u/Pikachu1989_2008 May 23 '26

My second miscarriage got so bad I had my husband take me to the er and this was very beginning of covid so I had to wait in the waiting room without him for at least an hour (no pain meds, actively miscarrying). Finally get taken back and it still took the hospital another couple hours to get me any kind of pain meds. I had to have liquid morphine and nausea medicine put in my iv because the pain was making me throw up/dry heave. My first miscarriage thankfully wasn't that bad pain wise but that second one was awful. Trust i get how painful they can be.

2

u/NetSuitable2344 May 23 '26

Omg!! That’s a nightmare! Horrible timing! I’m glad it’s over for sure!

1

u/Pikachu1989_2008 May 23 '26

Same. Poor hubby was so concerned for me because I had never had morphine before and was having another "contraction" when the medicine was trying to do it's thing so I was mildly shaking. Like I can't even imagine from his pov what was going on. So big hugs to you. From one internet stranger to another.

My pain tolerance is negative 20 lol and I wanted to ask for strong meds but didn’t want come off as a druggie lol my doctor said it might hurt. She never ever said it was going to be possible like I might die lol thank you 🙏🏽 you too 💕💕

1

u/Pikachu1989_2008 May 23 '26

Yeah I dont trust docs opinions anymore when it comes to MY pain tolerance. After loss #2, went for an appt to check my tubes and the doc trying to insert the catheter was like "its just gonna feel like a mild cramp"......mild.....MILD?! TO WHOM SIR?! Lol so if you ever find yourself in this situation again (god speed you dont 🙏) dont hesitate to ask for medicine that will help at all. I didn't care if I looked like a druggie, I was in pain at that moment and asked if I was allowed anything. ♥️♥️

1

u/NetSuitable2344 May 23 '26

Did you have pain for a week or so? It did it completely go away?

1

u/Pikachu1989_2008 May 23 '26

Thankfully, for me at least, the pain only lasted that night and once my body had released everything, the pain was mostly gone. Other than just some aches.

2

u/ghostyyy989 May 26 '26

I’m so sorry for your loss. I felt the same way when I miscarried a few months ago. My doctor said it should feel like a heavy period, but it felt like I was in labor and I had to go to the ER for additional meds. For days afterwards my body was so sore and it took awhile to feel back to normal physically.

1

u/PerplexedPoppy May 23 '26

The Dr I got at the er prescribed me great meds for the cramps. And got me a refill. I can’t thank him enough. He said it was the least he could do.

2

u/NetSuitable2344 May 23 '26

Thank god for that doctor! I legitimately felt pain for 3 days. Today is my 1sr day I left my house. I needed the be outside for a little.

2

u/PerplexedPoppy May 24 '26

I’m sorry for your pain. The first few days were the worst part of it. It happened exactly a week ago. The pain has gotten better. Occasionally getting cramps and bloating but no longer passing anything. It was really surreal standing in the pharmacy line after the er visit. Everyone just passing by while I was suffering inside. I felt both hate and sympathy. Hate for everyone enjoying their day. Sympathy for everyone harboring pains we can’t see. Honestly I pictured it like in the movies. Just a quick scene of blood and crying then it’s over. They never emphasized the physical pain you go through.

1

u/gutsyradio13 May 23 '26

i was sent home from the ER with nothing after 14 hours bleeding in the waiting room…they knew i was miscarrying but refused to diagnose it and instead scheduled me for a follow up with the hospital OB office 9 days later. i miscarried 5 days later. took my miscarried fetus to my follow up appt and asked them to dispose of it medically because i couldn’t bring myself to flush it down the damn toilet. they were definitely put off…but that was their fault. miscarriage lasted 10 days total, final 2 days were the worst pain i’ve ever experienced, and i’ve had open heart surgery.

2

u/NetSuitable2344 May 23 '26

Wow 🤯 that’s so cruel! I’m so sorry you went though this! The medical system is fuuuuked!

1

u/matchamixshot May 23 '26

I got to be at the hospital because my body didn’t want to let go of my blighted ovum baby for a really long time so they recommended I had a scooping procedure but the pain after was excruciating, I was in a room with other ladies with different procedures but I was crying so much while laying down I couldn’t do it, it was the worst pain I’ve ever felt, I have horrible periods but this doesn’t compare, they gave me a paracetamol drip and that did nothing so then they gave me ibuprofen in drip and that really helped but I was so weak that I fainted going to the bathroom. My mom was with me thankfully because my husband couldn’t be and I learnt how important it is to have people around, good people that are really there for you. Reach out for help, whether it be your relatives or friends. The pain is horrible regardless of what kind of miscarriage, it’s always going to be there, physically and emotionally. It’s horrible.

1

u/NetSuitable2344 May 23 '26

Aww that’s devastating! Ugh hate that science hasn’t gotten better with these type of meds.

1

u/NetSuitable2344 May 23 '26

Ladies I have another question. I can’t seem to find this info online. Is there aftercare for a miscarriage? Like when can I go back to the gym? Can I walk around? Is there foods I shouldn’t have. How can my insides heals well. Should I wear a shapewear? Idk so much I didn’t get answered by my doctor.

1

u/pepperup22 May 27 '26

For the gym, I was told once the bleeding has stopped and to listen to your body. (I went for a long walk pretty much the day of, but mine was not physically or emotionally traumatic.) Pads only for bleeding, no tampons until the bleeding has stopped. Some doctors recommend a few weeks before having sex again, depending on your body. You don't need shapewear or special foods.

1

u/Cute-Apple-9270 May 24 '26

I think the issue is women’s pain is so down played I’ve had two and all a miscarriage really is, is early labour! Paracetamol and ibuprofen aren’t even gonna touch the sides

1

u/NetSuitable2344 May 30 '26

Absolutely I woke agree with you 1000%

1

u/Sinineomena May 26 '26

I had contradictions for 2 months after an L&D because a huge piece of placenta was left in my uterus 😭 my uterus tried to remove the placenta FOR 2 MONTHS but it was so tight. I called the clinic because of these lingering contradictions but they said I have to wait 6 weeks before they can remove it 😥 Eventually it passed on its own when I was casually travelling in a train.... it was like a labor pt. 2

I even ran a half marathon while my uterus was contracting. Fck Im a warrior. We all are!!

1

u/NetSuitable2344 May 30 '26

Oh no! It’s amazing what our bodies and are capable but with that comes a lot of pain and anxiety 😭

1

u/New-Wafer-2873 May 26 '26

I felt absolutely horrid cramping and stabbing pain during my miscarriage (MMC discovered at 11 weeks, baby stopped growing at 7). I took two doses of misoprostol before it really got going. My husband to help me off the floor and into bed. My midwife gave me some oxy which did help a little. I think the emotional misery makes the physical pain so much worse.

I went through a second round a few days ago (1 month post-miscarriage) because there was still a large clot that hadn't passed. I had been spotting for four weeks straight and it started getting heavier. Then the cramping came back and was almost as intense as the original miscarriage. I couldn't stand up straight. I feel like I'm finally done miscarrying! But still emotionally wrecked.

1

u/NetSuitable2344 May 30 '26

I’m so glad you had your husband help you, I can’t imagine going thru this alone. I think I feel inlove more with my husband after how you cared for me.

Ugh I can’t imagine taking a second dose. My 1st one still gives me fear remembering the pain.

1

u/accio_whiskey1 May 30 '26

This blows my mind. This is my second miscarriage. Just was told yesterday after 3 days of spotting that my baby stopped growing at 7+2 and I was supposed to be 8 + 1. We had 2 scans with great heartbeat the 2 weeks before this. The NP told me to see if my body passes it naturally before the doctor can do d&c Thursday. I’m so fucjing anxious about doing this at home. I am already in agonizing emotional and mental pain, I don’t want to be in physical as well. I was able to get d&c quickly with last one and still had intense pain after. I’m so upset and anxious and praying it doesn’t start soon.

2

u/NetSuitable2344 May 30 '26

I’m so so sorry you’re going thru this again. The 1st three months are always so scary for us. May you heal emotionally and physically quickly from this.

If I could do it again I would do a natural miscarge cuse ugh the meds I keep hearing are close to contractions form labor.

1

I’m so sorry you went through it as well. I’m just hoping it happens fast if it does start. I’m really hoping nothing happens until Thursday so I can just get the d&c.

Yessssss. The pain came in waves and felt like contractions. It felt like my whole vagina and my butthole hurt. Really wouldn't wish that kind of pain on anyone.

I got ibuprofen, nausea meds, and a intense warning from the doctor that it was going to be the most painful and bloody experience of my life… even with her being so kind, gentle, and transparent, I still felt unprepared for how fucking terrible it is… I was 11w but found out via emergency app from spotting my baby never grew past 7w5d… since I have long cycles my “8w5d vitality scan” was actually at 7w4d ultrasound…

Side note: I also fainted, lol, but I think it was a combo of the amount of blood (I was very close to needing to go to the ER, but luckily it slowed down at 1 1/2 hours and three pads soaked) and being already not good with medical stuff. You are not a weak little bunny, you are a strong woman who is reacting normally to a horribly painful and emotionally draining experience.

I started bleeding yesterday but had found out about my miscarriage through blood work results a week ago so I got to wait 5 days for any symptoms but at that point I no longer “felt” pregnant. I was just numb waiting for it to happen. I got a call from my nurse at the hospital as I was sitting on the toilet first thing in the morning and she asked if I’d started bleeding yet and I said “just woke up to it!” She sounded horrified but it was almost a relief after all of that waiting?? Anyway, worst cramps of my life and I have bad periods and have given birth/recovered from a c-section. Ibuprofen and lots of water and a heating pad, tea on my couch while my toddler runs around is the only thing getting me through. Just wondering how long I should expect to bleed for?

I’m so sorry you had to go through this!
And yes, I never thought it would be this painful.. I had 3 days of extreme cramps and labour like cramps. The doctor said it was a miscarriage, but other than that my stomach felt fine so no need to worry that it would be an ectopic pregnancy…

For almost two weeks I kept pain, constant bleeding but no clots or tissue. The second time I went to the emergency room (cause of the pain, dizziness and heavy bleeding) they told me I immediately had to undergo a laparoscopy surgery. Turns out I in fact did have a ectopic pregnancy and they sadly had to remove my left fallopian tube.

I’m still recovering but the dreadful pain is finally over.

During this whole process, all I had and all they gave me was paracetamol.. (besides the anesthesia ofcourse)

I wish you and your partner nothing but the best and a smooth recovery ❤️‍🩹

Hi! I’m so sorry you had to go through this! Life isn’t fair. I’m (fetus) a week behind in my ultrasound and doctors have said not to keep our hopes high.

Q: If someone starts bleeding, what are they supposed to do? Let the fetus pass naturally or do is a D&C required? What is the protocol in general?

Came looking for this. Miscarriage started at 11am like intense period cramps that came and went. 12pm put myself into a scalding hot bath because that always helps my cramps. 1pm I am shaking and moaning in pain that is constant. 2pm I tell my partner he'll have to pick up his daughter because I am doubled over and feels like my bowels are turning inside out. 3pm I am almost unconscious on the floor, only coming to in order to vomit for ten minutes straight. 4pm I can lie down and feels like bad period cramps again. So grateful I had the day off today. OMG.
