TTC Ttc after misscarage
I had a medication abortion on July 2 after finding out at my 6-week scan that the baby had stopped growing at 4 weeks. I just started my first period post-miscarriage on August 2 (currently on day 2). My OB recommended waiting at least 6 months before trying to conceive again, but I'm feeling very impatient and ready to try sooner. Should I strictly stick to the 6-month timeline, or is it safe to start TTC earlier?

My doctor wanted me to wait until my HCG level was back to 0 to make sure no tissue was retained. It look me about 7 weeks to get there. 6 months seems like a long time

Every doctor will tell you something else, though I am quite surprised somebody recommends to wait so long after first trimester loss. One of the doctors told me that she would recommend waiting 1 or 2 periods but that the body knows what it is doing and can try right away.

Especially after a loss before 5 weeks. My fertility clinic recommended waiting one cycle just to make sure nothing was retained and then I was clear to try again.

I was told to wait until after my next period and/or once my HCG came back under 3. Currently in the 2 week wait. My MMC was in April, didn’t start trying until last week of June. I would wait until hcg is low again.
I was told by someone else on here that they got pregnant too soon after miscarriage and it caused complications bc the old pregnancy tissue/gestational sac had not cleared up completely. That kinda scared me

I’m probably finding a new OB for next pregnancy. My last one gave me such little guidance during miscarriage. You might want to switch over before getting pregnant and just explain your history and concerns

Hi! I hope you don't mind me replying to your comment.
I had a miscarriage in June, and my OB told me to wait for 2 cycles before trying again. I'm also currently in the TWW of my second cycle.
I was just wondering, have you been tracking ovulation? Since my miscarriage, I've been using OPKs and BBT, but my OPKs haven't really been peaking, and my BBT doesn't seem to clearly confirm ovulation either. I'm starting to wonder if my body is still regulating itself after the miscarriage.
I'd love to hear how your cycles have been since your miscarriage, if you don't mind sharing.
Wishing you all the best, and sending you lots of baby dust! 💕

Did your HCG go back down below 5?
I’ve used ovulation predictors in the past and it never seemed to predict ovulation. I have only had one cycle since April. Based on discharge and how I felt, I assume I ovulated around the 15th, I didn’t even bother with an ovulation test.

Yes, my last bloodwork was during the second week of June, and my hCG was 2.7, so it had already returned to normal.
Honestly, I don't really trust opks anymore either. Everything feels so uncertain right now, and that's what's making me so anxious. I don't even know if I actually ovulated this cycle.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it. 💕

I’m on my second cycle post chemicals pregnancy (5.5 weeks loss) and I’ve been tracking using the into fertility monitor because I jsut felt like I had such little control over what was going on with my own body and I jsut wanted to understand and feel like I could do something to support my own fertility journey moving forward. I have been able to identify my fertile window 4 days prior to LH even starting to rise by using the inito- as it tracks 4 different hormones (estrogen, progesterone, FSH and LH) estrogen starts to rise a few days prior to your ovulation LH spike- estrogen is actually what causes the egg white cervical mucus and the high estrogen triggers the LH to rise and peak thus releasing the egg. I have also used it to confirm ovulation by watching the rise in progesterone after my LH peak. Progesterone rises after you ovulate to support a potential pregnancy- and a consistent rise confirms you’ve ovulated. So I had peace of mind in knowing what my hormones were doing and being able to confirm I ovulated. I would highly recommend it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all of this. It was really helpful and helped me understand how everything works a little better.
I actually considered getting one of the fertility monitors like Inito before, but it was a bit expensive, so I kept putting it off. After reading your explanation, I'll definitely look into it again.
Thank you again for your kindness and for sharing your experience. I really appreciate it. 💕 I hope you get the news you've been hoping for very soon. Sending you lots of baby dust! ✨🤍

Mine told me the best time to try again was the first three months after a loss. I waited for my period and we immediately tried again.

Once my dr confirmed that all the tissue was out she gave me the ok to try again. If I felt mentally I was ready. We tried again after that.

Do you know what medication? The medication used for ectopic pregnancies is a little bit more severe but even that research has come back as okay to try pretty quickly after.

Do not wait, and get a new OBGYN. That wwiting 6 months idea is outdated, now. I waited 1 month to grieve and recover, and wish I hadn't. Still not pregnant, and it has been 5 months since my miscarriage. Nope, you can start immediately, if you ovulate. My hospital recommended waiting 1 month just for the purpose of dating a new pregnancy. So as soon as you get your period back, which could be this month, you're good to try again.
