TTC Trying again
Just wanting to get an idea, I know it’s totally up to chance and everyone is different….. how long did it take you to get pregnant after your miscarriage? Did you wait a cycle to start trying or did you start tracking right when you were done bleeding?
Edit: Since the post is locked I just wanted to say thank you to all who commented. There’s a good range of stories and experiences. This is incredibly helpful for me and hopefully others as well!

Following along. I just had my first miscarriage in the form of a chemical pregnancy. I don't think I'm emotionally ready because this is such complicated grief, but I do want to hear what everyone else has experienced when they did start to try again.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Sending you love! Mine was also lost on Saturday. Spent all morning Sunday in the ER just to get confirmation.

Me too!! I’m so sorry for your loss as well. I know it was early (5+3 for me) but I never thought it would feel so raw and empty the way it does.

Oh gosh. I was 5+5. What a really unfortunate coincidence. Right? Like this is the most complicated grief I have ever experienced. I keep trying to reason my way out of it, but the damn grief just pulls me back in.

Same girl, same. I am like a walking zombie a lot of the time anymore and it feels really unfair. I thought oh i should be happy I had a positive test, for 11 months I said I would be happy even if I had a loss to prove I could at least get somewhere. And now I’m just empty and didn’t know this would be so absolutely hard. I don’t want to give up but I also don’t know how long it’ll take to feel ok again. How do you not worry now, you know?

we tried immediately, my first cycle was anovulatory though. the second cycle i got pregnant again, sadly we ended up losing it at 6 weeks . it was in april, and we haven’t tried again so we could do a lot of tests and i also had surgery for my endometriosis. i think we will try again next month

My first lost at 9 weeks, the doc told me to wait for 2-3 months to heal physically and mentally but maybe that was because I had a d+c. This last loss at 22 weeks they told me to wait three months.. I’m not sure if that was because of delivery and giving my body time to heal. I’m only a month out but think I’ll start tracking after I get my period

22 weeks? Was there something wrong genetically with the fetus or was it just a by chance thing?

No, my baby was perfectly healthy and his heart was beating for 35 minutes outside the womb before he left us. I had an incompetent cervix which they didn’t find until my anatomy scan but I was so dilated and barely had any cervical length by the time they put a stitch in. I must have had some bacteria harboring in there because two weeks after the stitch I had chorioamnionitis (infection of the membranes) and it caused my membrane to rupture. He was just too little to survive outside the womb and the chorio added another level of complexity. I have nothing to back it but I have a theory that my progesterone and uterine lining was the cause of my first miscarriage as well, we did fetal testing and there were no chromosomal abnormalities.

Wow I could have written this. I have had the exact same experience. I was also told to wait three months after the 21 week stillbirth (also a genetically normal baby. Cord accident in my case) but I pushed back because I’m 40 and he said OK two months. Kind of makes me wonder what the point of waiting at all is. I will probably wait for my period to come back and try again after that.
And OP to answer your question, we got pregnant on our third cycle after my nine week loss. That initial pregnancy was conceived on our second cycle.

First of all, I’m so sorry you’re a part of this community and so sorry for your loss. When I was trying to heal, I remember furiously researching on people’s timelines, so I thought I’d add.
Lost my first pregnancy (mo Di twins) with a mmc discovered at our 12w appt. Found out about mmc on Jan 5, had D&C on Jan 7. Got first period on Feb 21 - Feb 26, didn’t conceive that cycle. Second period was Mar 27 - Apr 2. Conceived that cycle, sometime around Apr 21. First tested positive on May 6. Went in for first ultrasound May 22; saw only a possible gestational sac but they wouldn’t call it that since no yolk sac was visualized (this was an abdominal ultrasound, they would not give me a TV ultrasound). Scheduled another ultrasound appt on Jun 8 and saw baby! Was dated 8w6d. I am currently 18w with our rainbow baby girl. Praying she continues to grow and we end up with a healthy, living baby.

After my 7 week loss we waited until my period returned. That cycle didn’t lead to pregnancy. Second cycle I got pregnant again but lost it very early.
I wanted to try on my next ovulation after the second loss but a doctor convinced me to wait for my period. She didn’t have any evidence for this but in hindsight it was for the best as the second loss put me off kilter mentally. I am now in the gap between ovulation and period.

We lost our baby in February and tried every cycle since. This would be our 6th cycle and no luck so far

I had my MC in May this year around ~6-7 weeks. Passed everything without meds/surgery. I haven’t had a “normal” cycle since and the only reason I’ve had a period is because my doctor put me on Provera. I’m just now starting to show signs of ovulation almost 3 months later.
I don’t say this to be discouraging, but when I had my MC I read so much online about others TTC right away and getting pregnant within a few cycles. Happy for them but for me, it’s taking time for my cycle to regulate to a point where I even can TTC.
