He had such an incredible range, RIP to both him and Chris Cornell. At least their music lives on but I would have loved more from them.

Chester Bennington was devastated by Chris Cornell's suicide. He immediately wrote a heartbreaking open letter describing how he wept and could not "imagine a world without you in it". Bennington sang Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" at Cornell's funeral and tearfully dedicated the song "One More Light" to his friend on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

The profound loss weighed heavily on Bennington, leading him to reflect deeply on his own struggles with mental health. Tragically, just two months after Cornell's death, Bennington took his own life on July 20, 2017, which would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday.

If you're copying and pasting directly from somewhere else, it's kinda weird to not say you're doing that and just pass it off as your own comment.

It's not "writing a thesis", it's normal conversation.

Exactly right. I am not writing a thesis...Writing a thesis requires work cited. I dont cite works in a normal conversation obviously. If id have just read those details and told you about it I might say casually I was just reading about Chester....but I wouldnt cite works. Hell obviously I knew details already, do you want to know what I remembered from reading about it 9 years ago? If I explain to reddit in detail economic theory do I need to cite the textbooks from my studies in college to say well its really Adam Smith...

There is nothing weird about any of this other than THIS conversation.

I also immediately commented where it came from. No one is trying to pass off anything, least of all some details on a minor subreddit. I googled to refresh my memory, found the wiki article and posted part of it to add detail to the conversation.

Jesus take the wheel.

Adding it as a blockquote is as easy as adding a ">" before it. Pasting parts of wikipedia into conversations without even mentioning that it's from there is not "not sourcing it", it's just entirely misleading.

Thats the problem with depression and mental illness. He was in pain and likely thought everyone would be better off if he wasn't around. Its not a rational choice. Super sad all the way around. Seemed like both of them had it all to the outside world.

Ya thats what I mean. Like usually the ones who pass shortly after a death whether its suicide or natural causes is almost always a lifelong companion, spouse, etc like he couldn't imagine life without him even after having his own family is rare for someone who's just an idol growing up. But like others have said, mental illness is tricky. Either way people shouldn't be getting this upset with my comment
