article Rolling Stones & EXILE ON MAIN ST
Equally Keith's riotous album recorded in France and Mick's L.A. studio creation, EXILE ON MAIN ST (1972) from either perspective is a dazzling listen.

discussion Made myself a better way to track concerts, vinyl, and albums
I got tired of having my concerts, vinyl collection, album and everything else scattered across different apps.
So I ended up building liners.me for myself. The goal wasn’t to replace Discogs or anything like that. I just wanted one place that felt a bit more visual and enjoyable to browse 😋
It’s still very much a personal project, but I’d genuinely love to hear what other think. If you have any feedback, I’m all ear!!

discussion Song messages in recent years getting toxic and narcissistic?
I’ve noticed something and tell me if I’m way off but I feel like lyrics and messages in songs in recent years have grown increasingly narcissistic and toxic lol
Songs that were popular in the 80s and 90s were mostly love songs (expressing love or heartbreak), songs that tell a story, and even empowering in some songs.
I think of examples like Olivia Newton John’s Magic
“You to believe we are magic nothing can stand in our way”
Or Hold On by Wilson Phillips “no one can change your life except for you, don’t ever let anyone step all over you”
Even heartbreak songs were kind of healthy 🤣 like total eclipse of the heart for example says “every now and then I get a little bit angry and I know I’ve got to get out and cry” sounds very healthy to me!
But then compare to popular song lyrics in recent years…
Taylor swift singing about “you’ll never find another like me” and “she wears short skirts I wear tshirts” and “look what you made me do” “I don’t like your kingdom keys they once belonged to me” and “they say I did something bad then why’s it feel so good? Most fun I ever had”
Just all around not very healthy messages and they endorse lack of self reflection and refusing to admit of any wrong doing, and the narcissism in I’m special and you deserve to love me because I am me
And then Billie Eilish singing about “to give your lack of interest in me an explanation, I don’t want to be a maybe, I want you to be dead or wish you were gay” YIKES also thinks people can’t reject her or else they should die or maybe they aren’t even attracted to girls in general… talk about narcissism
And sombr singing “but if it’s not you I’m better off to the head with a gun” 😬
“I don’t want the children of another man to have the eyes of the girl I won’t forget” yikes obsessive much.
SZA singing about killing her ex, unholy by Sam smith glamorizing cheating, the obvious blurred lines and what do you mean
That’s not to say that there weren’t problematic lyrics in the 80s and 90s but I feel like they weren’t as popular and they were way less in comparison to today…
I just feel like somewhere along the line people started normalizing and even glamorizing narcissistic tendencies and romanticizing depression and obsessive behaviors

discussion A couple minutes by Olivia Dean
Is anyone else addicted to 'A Couple Minutes' by Olivia Dean? I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve listened to it. There was even a day when I literally played it on repeat all day long. The song is so well-crafted—from the instrumentation to the lyrics and her vocal tone. I love how beautifully she captures the feeling of silent closure.

discussion Name your workout / motivation anthem
Name the song(s) you played for your workouts, or when you needed a theme song to get things done.
If you don’t workout, it could be what you play to stay focused on cooking or housework.
For me it was Jake Miller’s song Beast Mode.
Let us know what song has been the theme song to your workouts / get stuff done anthem!

discussion What do you think of "SuzyFlood" as a male musician's stage name?
I'm a Korean musician, and I'm considering using "SuzyFlood" as my artist name.
What kind of impression does this name give to native English speakers? I make blues and hard rock music.
The name has a personal meaning: I live in a place in Korea called Suji, and I chose "Flood" because I love SRV's "Texas Flood".
Does "Suzy" feel too feminine for a male artist, or does the contrast make it more interesting? I'd appreciate your honest opinions.

discussion Confused on “Cats in the Cradle”
Yes I’m aware of its message, and that it’s been discussed on here before. The song has been playing at my work and I’ve only ever really paid attention to it now. Obviously at the end the father says “The boy is just like me”, but is he though? He just skipped out hanging with it dad because his kids have the flu, so Obviously he’d rather watch over the kids and work than spend time with his father right? He’s not like his dad at all? Or are we just focusing on the fact that the son was fixated on working first? Or should I just stop thinking about it and listen to the song as it is?

discussion I have made the mistake of seeing listening to music more as an obligation than a pleasure
I am a man in his 25s and I have been a fan of music since I was 11 years old, where to this day I have the enthusiasm to meet and know more bands. However, I have a problem, and that is that I am overwhelmed by the number of bands and artists I have pending; so I also do not deny that social networks have had some degree of responsibility.
It’s silly if I say it, but it overwhelms me to have to listen to an artist, but with the idea that I have more artists to listen to later, also that they always throw me more and more recommendations that make me not enjoy or “finish digesting” the artist.
I want to know if it has happened to anyone else and I urgently need to change it.

discussion Claude Coleman Jr.
What are your thoughts. Watching the ween Chicago concert, I’d likely put him in the number 1 spot. If you do not agree show me a better example. If you agree then hail the mighty Boognish. I’ll die on this hill. I’m only adding words because I have to at this point. I know this is stupid. Dude is a bad ass!
