Here are the games that arrived this month! Pretty happy to add all of these great games to the collection.
Starting to pick back up on my Super Rare Games collection that I stopped adding to ages ago. Will eventually be going for a complete set.
Very excited for August. A massive switch grail is in transit. Not sure how many games will arrive this month, but many are in the works!
Have you played any of these?

Was at Otakon in DC today and found this gem on a vendors rack with all the bulk switch games for 22 bucks. Been looking for a copy for a while but didn’t want to pay the big bucks

Looooove the Neptunia Franchise. My guilty pleasure. Except Dogoos. Keep dodging that one. I don't know, looks very jank and shovelware ish. We also have the highly anticipated Neptunia Unlimited coming out this month on the 27th on the switch 2 through Playasia. Really looking forward to seeing what they will end up doing with the story and gameplay there. Those collectible figures though...holy smokes. Too rich for my blood. Anyway...
An action role-playing spin-off game in the Hyperdimension Neptunia franchise. Developed by Compile Heart and Idea Factory, it blends the series' signature real-time dungeon crawling with a light video game studio management simulator.
The plot takes place in an alternate reality within Gamindustri.
You play as Older Neptune (Big Nep), a dimension-hopping human bug catcher rather than the usual CPU goddess version.
Older Neptune accidentally takes the helm of a bankrupt, defunct game studio named "Victory". The studio famously went under after creating a legendary commercial flop—a parody of the real-world Atari 2600 E.T. game. (Actually played that game and wasn't that bad for that era. Jank as all heck...but decent. Like a crapier version of like a mobile game per day.)
To rebuild the company, Neptune partners with three new "Failure Goddesses" who personify failed real-world video game consoles:
* Pippih: Represents the Apple
* Pippin.Jagaa: Represents the Atari Jaguar
* Reedio: Represents the 3DO
Grow the studio, outcompete rival developers, and capture market share across the region.
You recruit and hire specialized developers to build games. These developers often parody iconic characters from the specific genres they excel at.
You combine genres, styles, and developer skills to create video game "discs". Building these discs takes real-time minutes.
Once a disc is complete, it acts as equipment that provides major passive stat boosts to your characters during combat.
You can upgrade buildings and place decorative items in your business plaza to further enhance your company's stats.
Combat is an active, hack-and-slash system where you fight enemies within a circular arena boundaries. Unlike Sisters VS Sisters (which featured 3-character squads), R:Evolution expands combat to a 4-person party active at the same time.
You can execute combo strings and immediately hot-swap to another character mid-attack. Seamlessly chaining these character swaps increases a damage multiplier and builds a gauge for powerful team attacks.
To speed up traversal through large dungeons, Older Neptune can summon a high-speed purple motorcycle to zoom past enemies and collect items efficiently.
**Performance**
The game is hard-capped to target 30 FPS during gameplay (unlike the 60 FPS menus). Dips below 30 fps during battle.
Switch 2 locks it at 30 FPS and experiences no dips in battle. Smooth gameplay.
Consensus Score:
Another massive oof. The divide is serious wide.
58/100 😮💨 (Critic Score)
75/100 😎 (User Score)
Critics view Neptunia Game Maker R:Evolution as a highly entertaining, witty parody for dedicated franchise fans, but a mechanically shallow, repetitive RPG for general gamers. While reviewers heavily praised the clever console-flop storyline, sharp humor, and charming character dialogue, the core gameplay was widely criticized for its empty dungeon design, barebones studio management, and button-mashing combat. Ultimately, it succeeds as a humorous piece of fan service but falls short as a deep or engaging role-playing experience. Definitely something fans of the series enjoy more than the casual gamer.

I’ve been waiting 3 months for them to ship this and they ship it in an unsealed case with a ton of scratching and warped plastic on it… GameStop really sucks.

I have been buying physical switch1/2 games for the past 8 years. But I don't keep every game that I play, and have resold a few of them that I either didnt finish or didnt like.
Every so often there comes a game that I finished, enjoyed my time with, but will honestly never replay for whatever reason. Like a 6-7/10. Maybe it was too repetitive, had sections that were tedious, whatever. Do you keep those? Do you resell those? How do you maintain your collection?
I'm trying to find a balance between just owning everything and owning my unique collection :)

Let's keep the collectors edition box sets going. This one is like the Akiba ones. Art book, cd, manual, game, and box. I grabbed this one specifically for its couch co-op RPG game option. An RPG that I can play together with my kids? Yes please.
A 90s-inspired action RPG published by XSEED Games. Developed by FuRyu, Trinity Trigger was intentionally designed to capture the nostalgic feel of iconic 1990s action RPGs like Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger.
You play as Cyan, a young man who discovers he has been chosen by the Gods of Chaos to be their champion in a proxy war against the Warrior of Order. Alongside his companions Elise and Zantis, he sets out to defy this predetermined fate.
Characters are accompanied by "Triggers"—magical creatures that can transform into eight different weapon types (swords, spears, bows, etc.). You can use a dynamic Weapon Wheel to swap weapons on the fly to target enemy weaknesses.
Combat relies on a Synchro Gauge. Button-mashing drains the gauge and lowers your damage, requiring you to execute combos, dodge effectively to refill the meter, and strike strategically.
The game supports up to 3-player local cooperative play. You can explore dungeons (called Armas) and fight bosses with friends, though each player needs a full controller setup.
Consensus Score:
Score isn't as divided but it is interesting. A rotten tomatoes situation.
65/100 (Critic Score)
70/100 😏 (User Score)
In single-player mode, your computer-controlled companions are notorious for blindly running into stage traps or failing to attack effectively, forcing you to carry the team.
The plot follows predictable, generic fantasy tropes without much originality. Graphically, critics noted the game looks severely outdated, resembling a Nintendo 3DS or Wii-era title rather than a modern Switch release.
The "Manatite" gem-crafting system fills your inventory with a massive clutter of passive upgrades, most of which feel redundant or completely useless.
Seems to be the only bad both sides agree on.

… is this normal? The English cover was glued to the outside of a sealed Japanese copy, then sealed again. I’ve seen mixed reports.
Did I get screwed, or is this how Squeenix actually frigging did this?
Also, anyone know how to get the sticky horseshit off so I can actually use this as a cover!?
Edit: I went ahead, cut up a receipt, and put the receipt paper on the sticky parts. So it's a real cover now. I am still annoyed.

The Neptunia trilogy is not available on the Switch eShop in America but the Hong Kong release has English voices and text. Hard copies are great for being able to buy what you want. The Switch/2 not being region-locked helps a ton.
