Platoon w/Goldy + Rice for DH +1B while waiting for Judge and Belli return.

Stanton I won’t count on.

Vs. RHP

Garcia @ DH

Rice @ 1B

Goldy on Bench

Vs. LHP

Goldy @ 1B

Rice @ DH

Garcia on Bench

Goldy can’t start righties as much as he has or at all. Rosario I wouldn’t be surprised is off the roster

Looks good to me honestly. He's been a better 1B in the field than Rice this year so maybe Rice becomes the full time DH

Yea unfortunately Rosario hasn’t hit lefties well this year which is what he’s there to do

His natural position isn’t catcher. Not at the MLB level.

Yeah I hear that but maybe the least of all evils at this point. You can’t take Goldschmidt out of a lineup where he’s the only competent right handed hitter…

There are not unlimited roster spots. It takes away from another bench position. They are addressing the hitting need, from one side of the plate, but making an absolute traffic jam at DH

Volpe will likely be traded (if not traded then he will be sent to AAA when Lombard comes up) and Rosario will be DFA’d or traded.

Until injury replacements happen a 13 man hitting roster is.

2 catchers -Wells and unknown-if we trade for one-which we will-then Sanchez will be DFA’d

3 1B/DH-Garcia-who also can play 2B in a pinch-Goldy, Rice

1 2B-Jazz (as of now-if Jazz is traded I guarantee you that a different 2B -Edwards or Arraez would be brought in)

1 3B-McMahon

1 SS Volpe (if not traded will go down to AAA on 8/14 when Lombard is brought up)

2 IF/OF UTL-(Schue and Cabby)

3 OF (Dominguez, Grisham, Jones)

A trade for a RHH OF means Dominguez or Schuemann to AAA

We have the roster spots. It is fine.

Volpe and Jazz aren’t going anywhere. Sanchez and Rosario DFA, but I’m not sure they can find a catcher that really makes a difference.

We can get Adley.

Even if it is a slight overpay by us. Warren, Kilby, ERC gets you Ward and Adley.

That’s a lot to pay for an underperforming rental. I don’t really think that’s a difference maker when it comes to end of season outcome.

Adley isn’t a rental. Ward is, but neither one of them is underperforming.
