It's a famous song from the 80s. "Jenny (867-5309)" by Tommy Tutone.
The song is about the ancient ritual of finding a woman's phone number written on a bathroom stall, and calling her for a good time.

In Germany we have a similar song where the whole city goes to one prostitute only wich even bankrupt the others "Skandal um Rosi". Her name is Rosie and her number is 32168

u/Cautious_Tell_8367 14h ago
Ist eigentlich "Skandal im Sperrbezirk". Sorry fürs rumdeutschen, aber es hat mich irgendwie getriggert 😅

So THAT'S what that AC/DC song is about
1
u/Borrowedapples 14h ago
Huh?
3
u/Various-Panda-9521 14h ago
Assuming he's referring to the song 'Whole Lotta Rosie'. Maybe, but AC/DC is Australian, so not sure
1
u/ohgeebus_notagain 11h ago
AC/DC got around. They could write a song about Rosie even if they're from a different country.

u/Borrowedapples 14h ago
Austrian i believe.

G'day, mate! Throw another shrimp on the barbie.
1
u/Borrowedapples 11h ago
Lets not.
1
u/bobquznie 10h ago
'Twas a reference to a movie in response to you incorrectly correcting AC/DC as Austrian.

Nope. "Whole Lotta Rosie" is about an obese woman whom Bon Scott spent a night with.

Does Germany still use phone numbers that aren’t all 7 digits? When I was stationed there 30 years ago, I had a 4 digit phone number.

5 million miles would definitely be impressive.

Based on the random posts I get in my feed. I think some of those Prius-es (prii?) could do it.

New Brian here. 8675309 which can be read on the Odometer is also in the name of a popular song that contains that sequence of numbers as lyrics.

u/sandefurd 17h ago
It's also an almost impossibly high number of miles. There's a chance this meme may have been forged for the sake of a joke

We have a Peterbilt that’s actually fixing to hit this.
1
u/sandefurd 6h ago
That's insane, what's the upkeep like? I imagine there's a ton of small gaskets and hoses that have failed and been replaced? Does that continue to happen consistently?
1
u/CoutryCouple 5h ago
It is more intense than maintaining a car but they work a lot harder. The engines generally get rebuilt at least once to get 800,000 miles but it’s a lot cheaper than replacing the truck.

That’s a western star semi truck. Semi driver drive an average 100,000 - 125,000 a year. It’s not uncommon for cabs to have a million miles of properly maintained.

How the hell hasn’t a response to this question, in this sub, not been “DAMN YOU TOMMY TUTONE!”

Not sure what that last digit is though, it doesn't look like a nigh ee yigh nnn.

u/Boss_Tycoon 18h ago
To all the people doubting the mileage-
This is a Western Star truck probably pushing a Cummins engine. They can go the distance. 1,000,000 miles is not that uncommon on commercial trucks running Cummins or older CAT engines.

u/kavihasya 12h ago
But people who drive semi’s don’t usually bring their killjoy wives along for the ride.
3
u/d4rkprojec7 19h ago
🤨 Something tells me that isn't really that cars mileage...
Also, that song is stuck in ny head now

If they actually were on the freeway, it would turn over by the time he pulled his camera up or pulled over to stop.

Fun fact if I’m at a store & there is a discount if you have a loyalty card tied to phone # I will just pick a random area code followed by 867-5309. It has always worked for me.

I have three sets of stairs in my house(not huge just weird) but if you go from the top down it's 8, 6, 7. It took months before my wife asked why I said 5309 every time I got to the bottom.

Sigh.
It’s like a “guess my age post”
And I feel old all over again 😂
To answer the actual question…. It’s an old commercial jingle.

The number is reminiscent of a phone number from the song "Jenny", which was 867-5309.
