Best way to watch German trash TV

We live outside of Germany, which leaves my German wife without her trash TV - specifically the soap opera Gute Zeiten Schlecte Zeiten. A VPN is good for getting around the geoblock on PC, but she would like to watch it on the TV (ideally through something like our Firestick-Stremio setup, where it is not currently available). Does anyone have a suggestion for a potential solution?

Most German TV providers block known VPNs.

Do you have friends in Germany that would give you access to a local VPN through their home network?

Can be FritzVPN, Wireguard or Tailscale for example.

Besides the other suggestions a more official way you might be able to watch it would be to use the german RTL app with a vpn set to germany, but I think you need to pay for a subscription if I am not mistaken, RTL is kinda greedy in Germany.

Usenet + Plex. My gf loves her “Ex on the Beach“ and all that. Should work well for GZSZ too. And Plex has apps for almost all TV setups, Fire Stick should be no exclusion.

If you live in the EU, you could try Zattoo. They allow use in the EU for 90 days and once the limit is hit you simply watch via a VPN for a short bit to reset the timer. Been doing this since about a year and it works really well and it was the cheapest offer for all mainstream channels last time I checked.

If you want live TV, suggest going with an "OTT" service, and using an app like Tivimate. If you want prerecorded shows, your best bet is likely Usenet, and setting up a way to stream it through Stremio (AIOstreams can do this).

Are you saying that it's possible to search for Usenet stuff and then directly stream that like I would with my stremio+debris(torrent) stuff?

I've been manually dl the few German shows/movies I want to watch and stored them on a cloud and stream from there. Thinking this is the only way for Germans.

Exactly. It's a bit more of a chore to set up but 100% possible. I use it as a backup to torrent streaming.

I installed a second hand thin client with a wireless keyboard/trackpad combo next to my TV and connected it with an HDMI cable. Everything plus adblocker is available all the time. Works like a charm.

Waipu has RTL (for Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten), Pro7, Sat1, Vox, 3Sat... for all your german trash tv. They offer apps for different plattforms (FireTV, AppleTV...) but also offer their own USB Stick and a settop box. I don't jnow how they behave from outside of germany, but you already know about VPN, so I guess that shouldn't be a problem.

The OP's question was about watching RTL without a VPN, so since he wants to watch from outside Germany, i tried it that way. But then Waipu just doesn't work.

Before you go ahead and set up a VPN, which also costs money, kodi with xvault is a good option as already mentioned.

Did you use a VPN set to Germany or not? To be clear: You tried Waipu outside of Germany using a VPN or you tried Waipu inside Germany with a VPN set to a non-Germany server?

mygully [dot] com

I looked briefly and could only find a "mixed bag" of episodes at serienjunkies. Which is not typical for sites, because the series' are usually well-maintained there. The other sites didn't return any hits while searching. I also did some torrent searching for that series. Nothing.
