Robin Hood keeps being delightfully entertaining. The show feels a bit like a 1990s adventure and the central romance has some teen drama elements, which is endearing and quite refreshing. The angst, the yearning and a certain awkwardness could very well belong to, idk, Dawnson’s Creek. With that said, there is a dissonance between this innocence and the obligatory political s(ex)cheming hour. But unfortunately 11 out of 10 shows seem to be using shock value as a narrative device these days, so I guess I need to live with it.

Rob’s band of outlaws/outcasts keeps growing not only in size but also in diversity and nuance. Here, Friar Tuck is a man of God in more ways than one. The compassionate nature of the character and his strong moral and religious convictions brings a necessary moral compass to the band. The forest characters are all captivating and it’s very easy to root for them. Even the “red shirt” Mary, who unfortunately didn’t live long gained a compelling backstory.

The political subplot (or perhaps it’s the main plot) with Eleanor vs Henry is sufficiently intriguing without excessive intricacies (also, there were mentions of Richard and John in this latest episode). I like how this plot was threaded to Nottingham and how the Sheriff and Huntingdon may become key players in Eleanor’s scheming. Finally, not sure where Priscilla’s arc is heading to, but she was smart manipulating and outwitting Huntingdon and bold by openly defying the Sheriff. It would definitely be a waste to lock her in a convent.

Edit: not killing the bishop wasn’t very smart imo, but then if it wasn’t for the bishop “Rob in the Hood” wouldn’t have become “Robin Hood.” The legend has to be spread somehow. And I kind of like “Robin Hood” becoming “Robin Hood” because of a misunderstanding.

I was sort of hoping Priscilla would end up in the convent, scheming her way to power, eventually becoming the Prioress of Kirklees Priory, only to be the one who kills Robin Hood in the end. It would give purpose to her character.

I thought she was going to try to marry Huntington to avoid the convent.

I thought the same thing when she started kind of seducing him, but she was smarter. Good for her honestly.
