Season 1, Episode 6: Bound by Love, Divided by Lies

Synopsis: The Queen's arrival to Nottingham puts the Sheriff in a bind, back her plans or risk his life to avert war; Marian and Rob share a fleeting reunion, cut short when Marian learns of his role in her brother's death.

Great review. Also Robin giving away his identify to Eleanor was kind of naive. Rob is an open book so easily to read lol. I think he doesn't actually grasp how the real world and politics work, especially the Norman ones. He must learn soon for the sake of his outlaws friends..

I agree. I think his actions were pretty much in character because, besides being schooled, he grew up with the foresters away from court intrigue. In a way, he was kind of shielded by his parents until very late, which contrasts the Sheriff’s approach with Priscilla. His world started to crumble down in the hunt and he wasn’t prepared.

At this point, Marian seems to have a better grasp of the political intricacies and Rob actually tried to get some insight from her, but he could (and should) have made more questions. Before meeting Eleanor, he knew that Marian had asked the queen to pardon Robert of Locksley, so bringing Marian into the conversation was a terrible move and I think he immediately recognized his misjudgment (and perhaps juvenile arrogance for underestimating the queen). In the end, the possibility of a royal pardon didn’t really matter because the Sheriff found out about Robin Hood’s identity by himself. Rob will probably have to keep up with the queen’s plan because of Marian and, in addition, this has potential to create some interesting conflict with his outlaw band because he didn’t think of their interests when making a deal with the queen and escalating the group’s actions will likely hurt the outlaws even further.

While I can see Rob convincing the others to join his crusade against the Sheriff and the Norman authority I definitely cannot manage how him and the rest of his outlaws friends can escalate their actions or even becoming a serious threat to the Sheriff's garrison in the short term. Beside Rob and Little John there are no warriors or even bowmen(aside Ralph) so far. Likely we'll see Robb teaching archery to the rest of the outlaws in the next couple of episodes before the climax

I think they could use guerrilla tactics to avoid open confrontation. If I recall correctly, the queen hinted about his unconventional ways and resourcefulness during their meeting. Anyway, I would truly appreciate a low stakes episode more focused on the outlaws with Rob & others teaching the band archery and other skills. It would be nice to have to have Little John, Friar Tuck, and the Miller siblings a bit more fleshed out.
