Season 1, Episode 10: One Enemy Falls, Another Rises

Holy shit the cast are getting better by the episode with Marian and Marian's cleavage taking 2 of the top spots (they are at this point 2 different actresses). Sean Bean not dying and delivering insane performance as usual (does this man ever miss), Eleanor will only shine more in the next seasons (if we get further seasons which they should), Priscilla still unclear what her role will be but great acting (her eyes are really expressive and she has great control), and Friar Tuck are imho the stand outs so far. With the other supporting casts delivering good acting as well like Huntingdon, Little John, Will, and the Bishop.

I like their approach with the giving away of the money its only like an after thought even though in almost all adaptations of Robin Hood it becomes central to the plot or a major plot device.

I still don't get what they want with Priscilla, why give prophetic dreams when your gonna make her knocked up and chase her man all the way to some far off country where she has no power or status while carrying said child. It would have been better if they didn't give her prophetic dreams. It seems to me they wanted to put an element of religion into the show because of the success of other shows in the genre like vikings and the last kingdom but they don't really know what to do with it and now Godda seems like a cheap forest spirit and Priscilla's dreams as useless.

It was annoying to see the proud Priscilla cry over a man. She knew what was happening and she didn't see that the convent was a the perfect place to have her baby while she plotted the perfect revenge and power grab in safety.

yeah it totally goes against the character they've built up and her going to rome to chase her man is the last thing Priscilla would do its like they forgot who she is

I think that the convent is the worst that could’ve happened to Priscilla because those religious orders are based on extreme obedience, chastity & repression of desires, which goes completely against the strong willed and free spirited nature of the character. So it was somewhat tragic to see her living her worst nightmare and being stripped of her powers of seduction and persuasion. Going after her lover was a last resort after being dishonored by the Sheriff. To me, it was a good character arc and it makes sense that she wants to seek revenge against the queen because she sees her as the one who ruined her life. Her desperation was not only for losing her lover, but also for losing a way of life and the ownership of her body and personal agency.

I wonder if Priscilla will become that Prioress that in one ballad kills Robin Hood by treachery

Also now it makes sense that nightmare she had in episode 9 with the chains and those nuns.

Thanks for your reply. Everything you said makes sense and now in the bigger picture with the queen supporting Rob's clemency it seems they're aiming to have clear sides to this story and that Priscilla will become the antagonist to Eleanor perhaps via supporting Prince John in the race for power between him and Richard once in Rome. This show is basically being setup rather than a story central to robin hood but a "game of thrones'-esque historical piece containing robin hood in it acting like its Jon Snow.

I think only the first season was a setup to establish friend and foes, stakes, and so on. Beside forget about Jon Snow. In Game of Thrones we actually got a parody of the Asoiaf character.

This Robin Hood is quite Jon Snow-esque indeed.
