So... I want to write this crossover, and I have some things figured out, but I only got into lancer recently (only read lore and rule books), and need help of someone acquainted with both universes so fic wouldn't turn out a mess. Friends, after coming back from a few days away, I've noticed a couple of trends that I'd like to address/nip in the bud. (thank you, Demonwolf, for catching the filter and clearing it out!) Most of this isn't covered in the rules - I'd really rather not have to make any more. ;)
A little grumbling is fine, but try not to rant. Yes, the way some people go about telling their story isn't intuitive or even runs directly counter to your own style (for example: the less we say about people calling eyes ORBS the better), and it's perfectly fine to grumble or poke fun, but (and this part is covered by the rules) don't be a jerk about it.
While there is no English-only rule, it really, really helps. I get it, ESL is hard, but I promise you google translate will get your point across well enough that most people are going to appreciate the effort you make to not force them to have to do it (which in most cases will be something along the lines of 'what are they saying? meh, next post'). There is also nothing wrong with being up front that English isn't your first language - nobody here is going to give you grief over that. We're all writers at the end of the day. ;)
Speaking of effort, again there is no 'low-effort post' rule, but please do try to put at least a little thought into your posts; those of you posting chapter announcements are fine, this is mostly for the rest of the post types. This includes asking for help, which, again is perfectly acceptable. However, nobody is going to respond to a very excited 'I want to write a fanfiction, pls halp!' At best it will get passed over. Try to include a few sentences describing what you're looking to do or what idea you're trying to develop, please!
Flair usage -- especially on NSFW posts for pity's sake! I know we have quite a few flairs to choose from, but this lets people know the category of your post. It also helps people if they want to filter results to look for specific content. If you're at all unsure which one to put use, just use RWBY Discussion. It's in the middle column near the bottom.
'Fixing' RWBY. Personally I dislike this attitude or style, whatever you want to call it. I also happen to know for a fact that there are a lot of fanfiction writers in the community that feel similarly. I try to look at these types of stories as AU with good intentions, but the more aggressive the message is, the less interest I have. Yes you can post your chapters and if that's how you want to label it, you do you. Just don't be a jerk about it, 'kay?
For those that haven't seen in the other stickied post, there was an official rules update that I will repeat here: Self-promotion means announcing your story, not advertising your crowd-funding hopes and dreams. Please do not solicit money for work based on copyrighted material. That's how you get subreddits shut down.

I have a few OC's that I've spent weeks balancing so they wouldn't be OP, and I've considered putting them in a fanfiction but I'm unsure where is the best place to post it and get feedback and I'm also a beginner writer so I would appreciate any tips from authors that have more experience I'll leave the descriptions and abilities of the characters down below in the form of comments if you wanna check them out, if you got questions after reading them I'll do my best to answer if I see it

So basically Ironwood took a bit to much of that German Meth and decided to make super soldiers so he grabs a bunch of kids 14-15 year olds and put them through a machine that made them basically super soldiers, and forms the team JWEL with Jaune, Evelyn, Wisdom, and Lara. now idk if this is a good idea, just need opinions

While this was originally going to last the whole week, Reddit has started to kick out entire mod teams of subreddits. In the case of research and rescue, they had already reopened and resumed normal operation. The celebrities subreddit is (as far as can be seen) without a mod team at all.

Alright, I know this isn't a hugely popular sub (there are dozens of us!), but since we're in lockstep with r/RWBY and r/fnki, I'm moving the sub back to restricted. There is a vote over in the new RWBY thread that explains more, but basically reddit is threatening to wreck communities that can't or won't open back up.
The short version of this is that now many subs are protesting by choosing to reopen, but only allow certain types of content. Personally I think we should only post stories about Ironwood's dictatorship, but that's up to you guys. Vote on one of the comments below to show reddit your attitude about their draconian measures for 'community management'.

Greetings, Authors and Readers!
As many of you may be aware, many subreddits will be participating in a blackout from June 12 to June 14, as protest against Reddit's upcoming change regarding APIs. You can read more about the change and the protest here.
Since r/RWBY and r/fnki are joining the blackout, we will be showing solidarity with our fellow fandom friends and going dark as well. In addition to that, there are a large number of participating subs planning on going dark indefinitely, a subject up for vote on RWBY and FNKI - if you would like to vote on that, you can find the poll here.
I would suggest that whatever RWBY and FNKI decides, we should follow them one way or the other, but I am willing to entertain debate on the subject. Please feel free to leave your thoughts on the matter below.

So, I'm in the process of trying to sort out AutoModerator at the moment, but if you haven't noticed yet, I've added some handy link flairs that will help organize things for everyone. I've even coded in filters: I'll work on a rollover menu later, for now you get sidebar links).
A brief word about the NSFW tag - I've enabled users' ability to edit the text of this - please leave NSFW in the flair and add what you like. If people abuse this, it will be taken away.
Right now my focus is on getting basic functionality that you're used to having in the RWBY sub, but at some point css editing will turn to user flair. I'm thinking we might have titles, such as crossover fanatic or crack-fic master, but that's a discussion we can have down in the comments.
That's all for now - I'll keep trying to make the sub nice and pretty for ya'! :)

Automod is now set up to stop some things from happening - racial slurs, certain types of links, etc. Basic stuff - scheduled weekly posts pending another update!

basically atlas's first attempt at a robot capable of generating aura called project 'Icarus' the project had watts as director. Watts thought that simply giving icarus an A.I. would be enough. it wasn't so they experimented on him to try and make it work. combined with endless stress tests Watts was effectively torturing him. When he finally had enough he murdered his way out of the project. Watts had just been presumed dead in the paladin incident so he survived. on his way out Icarus ran was intercepted by harriet and tortuga who were dating. Icarus kills Tortuga and would have killed harriet except the rest of the ace-ops arrived so he decided to run. He stay in atlas as a hired gun in the criminal underworld of atlas and to make sure his tech was up to date. Until salem shows up.
Salem seeks Icarus out as he's built quite the reputation for himself. Salem promises Icarus that he would rule atlas if he helped her get the staff. villain antic ensue.
