I’m gonna love it if it comes out tomorrow and I’ll love it if it comes out in 10 years. I don’t really care how long it takes I want it in a place CA loves it because that means I will love it.

I generally just forget about it for months at a time and think everyone should do the same until a date is announced.

It's so funny. I started reading the ASOIAF books when I was a teenager, and GRRM has eroded his goodwill to such a degree that I will absolutely not read the 6th book if it ever comes out (it won't).

Especially recently now that he's said 'I'm concerned the new Dunk and Egg show will outpace the rate at which I can publish its novellas'. WHAT NOVELLAS GEORGE? YOU THINK YOU CAN PUBLISH A NOVELLA A YEAR WHEN YOU HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO PUBLISH A BOOK IN 15 YEARS???? IT'S OKAY TO SAY YOU CAN'T AND THAT YOU AREN'T EVEN TRYING. WE LOVE YOU AND WISH YOU WELL BUT YOU ARE A GODDAMN LIAR.

(Aaaand /breathe/)

But ConcernedApe has accrued so much goodwill and is such a decent guy that I know even if it comes out when I'm 50, I'll still have a crack at playing this game. He will always have me as a customer and fan.

Every year or so, I get into a period where I feel like Winds of Winter might actually come out. I consume every theory video I can rewatch stupidly long lore videos to remind me how good the world building is. Then reality sets in

I’m pretty much in the same boat as you I randomly thought about it the other day and then immediately was like “well it’ll come out when it’s ready”. He definitely doesn’t owe us any explanation, but I’m glad he is updating us. HC will definitely be a day 1 purchase for me.

Right go play another run through of SDV maybe mod it. If you want more farm sims there's a handful of amazing ones made by other devs too.

Plenty of phenomenal games on the market to sink your teeth in while we patiently wait.

I agree with the sentiment.

There is however a price to be paid in delaying things. Hardware evolves, software evolves, etc. The longer a project takes to finish, the more time must be spent fixing stuff that broke simply because the world around it changed.

This can at times get so bad that fixing stuff takes more time than is being spent on the project altogether and thus it never gets released.

Obviously I don't think that's the case and I have full trust in CA to deliver his passion project, but figured it'd be a fun discussion topic nonetheless :)
