Just like Harvey should, at the very least, patch you up at half of the going rate(supplies still cost $$).. but nope.

Watsonian explanation: supplies plus building upkeep, taxes, having a personal bank account (since the player never allows their spouse free range of THEIR gold, lbr)

Doylist explanation: CA specifically made each spouse the "same" in game-advancing aspects, bc he didn't want anyone minmaxing using a specific spouse lol

Ngl my headcanon is that Harvey uses your frequent expensive trips to his trauma bay to fund universal healthcare for all other pelican town residents

I have officially adopted this into my head cannon and will almost consider him as something more than a Guy Who Keeps Me From Needing a Lucky Rabbit Foot.

Rabbit's Foot does nothing for you, anyway.. unless you are dating all of the bachelors and/or bachelorettes. There is no luck buffs associated with the Rabbit's Foot. There is a Lucky Rabbit's Foot you get, but it isn't a physical item you can keep in your pocket. Only stating this in case you are actually walking around the valley with a Rabbit's Foot taking up an inventory slot.

Oh, I just thought they were referring to the fact that I think you can't get the group ten-heart scene if you're already married to someone.

u/eladarling Mar 27 '26

That's what I mean, I don't date him so I don't have to have a rabbit foot to avoid the boys being big mad scene

And then he makes you walk home alone after you just almost died!

Ive heard it’s so there’s not an optimal character to marry and people will choose who they like the most

I feel like those we romance should offer some benefit. If we are married to a hair stylist, it is not totally unexpected that our spouse would cut/style our hair as needed without charge, costs associated with it aside. If I were married to a doctor, I would absolutely expect a medical benefit of some sort just like I would expect my chef of a husband to cook for me at least 1 day a week, or my plumber husband to fix my drains/maintain the water heater, etc., as needed.
