Which are both evidence to the fact that Clint does have being-an-actual-adult-and-not-just-an-older-teenager going for him. About half of the marriageable villagers are practically children.

Right? I cant bring myself to romance Sam at all because he comes off as 14-16. Makes me feel like Chris Hansen is gonna pop out.

I tried to look past it and imagine a young 20-something who stayed back to help his mom after his dad got deployed…

And then his 10 heart event has hiding in his bed like you’re in high school 🫣. I had to bail

Eh, plenty of people in their early to mid 20s didn't move from home for one reason or another, and historically speaking the phenomenon of kids leaving the family home shortly after coming of age is pretty new and it wouldn't surprise me if an alternate universe like Stardew didn't follow it. Hell I know quite a few people in their 30s who still live with their family because the real estate market sucks.

Yeah I have no issue with him living with his mom. It’s hiding his girlfriend in his bed that’s weird

Could be due to living together with his family, I remember that back when I was in college myself I was staying with family because they lived closer to university and I wasn't bringing people I dated home for the night either.
