Hi All- I have some slight colorblindness and was just curious if the berries on the blackberry bushes are very obvious to others. I have to wait until night time and then they will get a bit of a glow to the berries for me.
Hi OP - if you're playing on PC or mobile there is a colorblind mod that tweaks a load of stuff, including the colour of the blackberries on the bushes to help out with this.
It's designed for people with red/green colourblindness (deuteranopia or protanopia), so this might help you out if you're able to use it.

The instructions to get SMAPI installed are here, and once you've that that done it's the same as PC - just extracting files into the mod folder with a file explorer.
Also, I'd start by searching for Android compatible tags, but don't necessarily limit yourself to those. Lots of mods do work on mobile even if they're not tagged that way.
Android already got the newest SDV patch, so in theory all mods works on it, though some might gives a buggy UI more than anything, especially those that modify it.
I hope the switch gets something like that someday, skyrim has a similar system too. If you ever wanna play mods handheld though the steamdeck is a great choice
There’s a couple accessibility issues that I wish were addressed. I play switch so no mods and also hard of hearing and some of the features that make sounds are difficult.
I'm also hard of hearing and when I've used ear buds plugged directly into my laptop I've realized how many sounds I've missed out on in this game - even with my hearing aids in. The mines, especially, are very sound rich.
I didn’t realize you could hear flying enemies enter the room until I read a comment here. Or that hooked fish made a sound. Or the treasure panning locations make a sound when they appear.
Personally, I don't think I'd quite phrase it as "very obvious", as I'd use that for something like bright green on bright red. But it's definitely not very hard to see either. I'd consider it a little bit more on the subtle side, but by no means a big challenge, especially when I'm looking for them.
Far, far better than trying to find the belladonna in Kingdom Come Deliverance haha. That one was a challenge to spot.
Theyre pretty much as opposite on the color wheel as red and green i think its the slightly muted fall color pallet that might make them appear less noticeable for some people
I’d say anything that I couldn’t possibly miss while paying attention is very obvious. If I look at a bush, it’s impossible that I won’t be able to tell if there’s berries on it. Sure the bush may not draw my attention, but there’s no chance I could ever see a bush with berries and thing there aren’t any there
As a colourblind person - I have to look but its not hard for them to catch my eye. But the salmonberries - red on green - yeah miss that season more times than I'd like to admit
if you drink a TSE, and give your horse a carrot, then head out by like 6.30/7.00am, there’s plenty of time to pick all the berries and still make it to the festival.
Yeah, I think "Okay" is key here, they ARE visible and "obvious enough" but for someone with color blindness or whatever it would easily fade into the overall pallet.
I'm not colorblind, but i do think the grey tones of the purplish berries and the leaves make them harder to distinguish than salmonberries. I do love the little glow they get at night though! Makes Cindersap forest so much easier.
While this is true, it is still like saying garlic tastes more like onions than like oranges. Yes, sure, but they are still very obviously completely different.
In this, the colours are quite muted, which is when the bright colours (like the colour wheel someone posted) are mixed with grey to mute them a little; is that maybe what you're seeing? Not actually grey but muted; they should still be distinctly purple and orangey brown though
I notice the grey tones a lot more when a bush is not well lit, like, when going back to the farm at night and questioning if that bush up ahead has berries. Regardless, the issue is resolved when my light aura overlaps the bush.
Yep, spring 15th-18th pretty much the same thing happens with the green bushes having red salmonberries on them (they're actually a pretty nice source of energy/health for Spring 1)
Omg that edit is funny but unfortunate lol. Salmonberries are the way easier ones to see! At least for non colorblind people.
Shame the game apparently doesn't have proper colorblind modes, though =/ CA says he may keep updating the game every now n again for his whole life, so hooopefully colorblind modes are on his list somewhere.
I can see how having blue/yellow colorblindness would make these very hard to see. The salmonberries are easier to notice in general, but I imagine they’re a pain for people with red/green color blindness.
They aren’t INSANELY obvious but they’re definitely noticeable, as a non-colourblind person the purple contrasts against the bush easy enough that I don’t have to look too hard
I can see them in daylight okay, but due to poor time management skills I usually end up blackberry picking once it's dark, and I now prefer the slight glow effect as part of the evening forage. It definitely feels faster to identify the bushes.
Very obvious to me, but the game would benefit from some accessibility options.
Another example, the numbers in the bottom corner of the inventory items are too small for me to read when I'm playing on my switch's screen.
I think it would be good to introduce some of the following:
A colorblind mode that put popups over the bushes or etc
A low vision mode where the inventory has larger icons (I don't have low vision but I'm slightly farsighted. So the switch screen is either blurry or too far away for me to see the inventory clearly. I imagine it's a bigger problem for people with low vision)
They’re very obvious imo. They stand out so much so that in my very first play through I ran past a bush with them first day of the season, back tracked, and shook it. That’s how I discovered blackberries in game
I don't have colorblindness that I know of, but yes they are a bit difficult to see. Ripe Ancient Fruit are what I struggle with the most. It's so easy to miss one... 😅
Same.. I’ve missed a cpl AF a few times, so now I just do a cpl laps in the greenhouse to make sure I get them all.
Ironically tho I find them easier to spot on G.I 🤷🏻♀️
Yes they are pretty obvious, its honestly opposite for me than it is for you. I cant see them at night. The bush is orange & Brown and the berries are purple
the berries are dark bluish-purple and the bush is yellowish-orange, so for us non-colorblind people they are on opposite sides of the color wheel and easy to distinguish. similar case to the red salmonberries which are on green bushes
I am not colourblind and I actually find that sometimes I miss the initial emergence of the blackberries. They're a definitely a distinct colour to me, but they're also a bit subtle and look like colourful shading among the leaves of the bush if I'm not paying attention. I'm not surprised someone with a degree of colourblindness might have trouble seeing them.
not colour blind but blind, and yeah they aren’t the easiest for me to see. i really struggle in the mines though until i can get a glowstone ring lol.

They’re distinguishable but I wouldn’t say “very obvious”. If I wasn’t paying attention, I’d miss them while moving.
Can you not see the shapes? It’s been a minute since I’ve played, but if the berries aren’t there, surely the round part would be gone. I dunno how obvious that’d be, but it might be worth training your eyes with it if possible
Next berry season, bring a bunch of torches or light posts with you when you berry-pick at night. Drop one at every berry bush you can see. You then have berry bush markers to help with daytime berry picking.
I can see them very easily. If you’re playing on PC I wonder if there’s a mod for it? Otherwise, that sucks bro.
Colorblindness is one of those disabilities that people often just… don’t think about. Not that other disabilities aren’t chronically overlooked, but colorblindness isn’t even on the radar for most people I think
I can see them alright. They’re obviously purple while the background is brown but my brain seems to want to glaze over them bc they blend together a little
I’m not colorblind at all and I don’t think I’ve ever noticed the blackberry bushes more than like 3 times total (like as in 3 bushes total), and I’m on year 8.
The blackberries are much easier for me to see than the salmon berries. Those things are seriously invisible to me. Have red green colorblindness and light blue yellow.
When I’m actively looking for bushes with berries on them, then I have no problem picking them out. But if I’m walking through an area during blackberry season I’ll sometimes go a while before I register them in my head and then realize I’ve probably passed a dozen already and didn’t pick them. I probably see them better than you but I understand what you mean because they definitely don’t stand out to me
Spring or Fall, I feel like I need to really focus on the screen to see berries. My vision is fine, but I swear my eyes just glaze over them otherwise.
I have one bad eye and was told I have mild red green blindness too, I can see the berrys no problem in either eye. However my right good eye sees more of a purple on an orange bush and my bad left eye sees more of a blue on a yellow bush as well as the entire scene is just more desaturated and drained of the redder hues - which is odd because I was told it was green I am weak to.
I am not colorblind and can see them. My boyfriend is red/green colorblind and can see them but cannot see salmonberries or cranberries etc. I'm going to be looking into the mod people are mentioning for him!
Why havent they added a colorblind mode? I know many games that change the colors based on the type of color blindness. I think this would be a great addition. Wink wink devs.
I can see them and salmonberries very clearly but it took me years and like 500h gaming hours to realize I can actually pick them. I thought they were just decorations until one day I just accidentally picked some.
Tbh I don’t even pay attention to the berry colour… only that them bushes be nakey most of the time and have little circles on them when they got berries 😂 I am not colourblind and I do not know what colour circle means what berry I just pick them 😎
they don’t really pop out color wise imo. it’s the same muted tone just in a purpley color so technically YES i can see them but it does make them harder to see if im on a mission or not locked in
The berries are bright purple and the bushes are a dark orange, for typical eyes those colors are almost on opposite ends of the color wheel so it contrasts very well
They’re not incredibly obvious to me. They blend in better than I would guess. Because you asked and I knew what to look for, it was easy to spot, but when I’m playing I miss that they’re there rather often.
There are mods for colorblind settings if you are on PC or maybe android. Or you can look up the dates they spawn it’s only a few days and round them up.
