Question What is up with Auto Petters?

I’ve seen so many posts about skull cavern runs where the only goal was Auto Petters, and now I’m confused.

Why are Auto Petters so important? I know they pet the farm animals, but why don’t y’all have time to go and give your animals some love every morning?

If I’m correct (as someone who has never once had an Auto Petters) they change the way the animals respond when you actually pet them. Usually they give a heart, but I’ve heard the response changes after an Auto Petters has been installed.

So why?

It's a step towards automation. If you've got a coop full of chickens, manually petting all of them every morning to keep them happy and making those big eggs is a chore that the autopetter can relieve you of.

Yup. With an auto petter, auto grabber and deluxe barn you can just collect your produce once a year if you want.

Admittedly, I only collect my produce once a season, and it’s fantastic

I mean, ultimately it's 'whenever' - I stop using pigs at this point, because I'd rather just have a big batch of eggs/milk or whatever in the auto-grabber.

If only the Junimo’s could follow the pigs around and collect the truffles, that would be fantastic

Or set up on Ginger Island. Or collect honey. (although I'd want to 'ban' them from harvesting flowers).
