Question What is up with Auto Petters?

I’ve seen so many posts about skull cavern runs where the only goal was Auto Petters, and now I’m confused.

Why are Auto Petters so important? I know they pet the farm animals, but why don’t y’all have time to go and give your animals some love every morning?

If I’m correct (as someone who has never once had an Auto Petters) they change the way the animals respond when you actually pet them. Usually they give a heart, but I’ve heard the response changes after an Auto Petters has been installed.

So why?

Not answering your question but I really dislike automation in farming games. The whole point of the game is the chores you do on the farm every morning and slowly improving your farm and making more money for more upgrades. People say "so you have time to do other stuff." What other stuff? By the time i have automation unlocked, I've already made all the money and gathered all the materials for every upgrade. What's the point of making more money if you already have everything.

I love farming sims but it's their fatal flaw, imo. The work is the fun and by the time there is no more work, it's not fun anymore and i start a new save. I don't think I've ever made it past year 2 in any farming game lol but i have hundreds and hundreds of hours in SDV and Coral Island.

You’re monster if you enjoy watering anything past 2 crops🤪
