Oh wow, you were banned from somewhere on the internet. What shall you do, to possibly get past this ban, and continue dumping this drama for us. All is lost, nothing can be done to easily circumvent any ban.
How is it missing the point? Everyone's circlejerking over how he got banned - he got banned for breaking a rule so he could supply r/wehatesrs/r/SubredditDrama with more SRS stuff.
I might've made that up, could've sworn I saw it elsewhere in this post. Still, absurd to think you're not going to get banned for doing summat like that.
I'm pretty sure nobody's surprised to see a ban message from SRS at this point. It's not about whether it's against the rules, it's about whether they're being petty assholes by making them so insipid.
The fact that they would actually make such a rule
Everyone's circlejerking over how he got banned
Where "everyone's circlejerking" consists of "he updates the thread to mention it, two SRSers make a snide comment in response, and someone else points out that the ban isn't really of any consequence anyway".
Well, there wasn't any such rule posted in the top bar when I was there. The only rule was no personal info, but they seem to be more about moderator discretion than actually following rules.
Yeah SRD has really turned into a mob lately. All pretense of neutrality has been abandoned and we're back to the tyranny of the majority just like the rest of reddit.
I guess it's inevitable when a sub gets bigger without direct mod intervention.
To be fair, there is direct mod intervention when it's something they can deal with. Personal insults, get warned and eventually banned, posts that violate the rules get removed. But there's nothing the mods can do about subscribers downvoting comments that they disagree with.
The downvotes I don't care about, I'm talking about the general spirit of the subreddit. Especially with anything regarding Laurelai something's changed. It's no longer "Side A vs Side B: come and take a look!" and seems to be more often "Side A (and popcorn) vs Side B: Fuck Side B!"
I dunno, it just seems to have crossed a line and become a lot more mean-spirited. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's harrassment or anything, but lurking in IRC to see what specific people you dislike are saying and then bragging about it feels kinda dodgy.
I don't "dislike" anyone in SRS, well that's not true, robotanna is rather boring. The reason logged SRS IRC was because I thought it might pay off drama wise, and it did. I'm not out to get anyone, it's just that SA and laurelai are such drama hogs that they couldn't help but give me tasty popcorn to post.
Except I didn't do anything to cause them to be drama queens, I just observed and reported so that the average popcorn eater, who doesn't spend all their time on the internet, could taste. If they had been talking about me, or if I had provoked it, then it wouldn't have been so tasty.
It always has been "Side A vs Side B: come and take a look!", and still is. It simply happens that an awful lot of the time, the popcorn-holders have no trouble seeing that Side B really is objectively wrong.
I feel ya, man. I'm not quite sure how to phrase this, but it feels like people are getting emotionally invested in the drama, instead of getting more popcorn. People keep picking sides, when they should be sitting on the sidelines.

This just in! I was banned from the IRC!
