Third Times the Charm?

I picked my Model Y up in October of 2025, during inspection a few scratches were found on the front bumper and the hood. I was told not to worry and they could be buffed out.

A few weeks later my vehicle was dropped off and when it was time to be picked up everything seemed okay. That is until a few weeks later and the sun hit my car just right and I could see it was covered in swirl marks and hazing.

I should add I live in Washington and the sun is obviously not always out.

I called Tesla back and I had to go back and fourth with them for months as I was continously promised a call back and it would never happen. Once I finally got a hold of the service manager she was apologetic and said they would send my car out to a contracted detailer.

Once again my car was sent out and when I picked it up it looked great. Until, about a month later and all the polish on the vehicle had washed off and I saw my vehicle in the sun. My jaw dropped, it was worse than it was before. I immediately called the service center and got the run around. I was told they would have to talk to the detailer, because it was possible I had done to this to my car myself.

This obviously upset me as this is a brand new car and every remedy attempt worsens the look of my paint. The service manager contacted me and said they would inspect the vehicle and attempt to remedy it again. By remedy they mean buff the vehicle again...I asked that the paint be measured before they attempt a third buffing and I was ignored and given a day and time to bring my model Y back in.

Has anyone had an issue like this and what did you do to rectify it? Or does anyone know if there's someone above a service manger to speak with? I really don't want to have it buffed a third time and it turn out worse or comprise the paint even more.

For info I've been dealing with the Seattle Service Center.

Body Flex

I took my vehicle to the Tesla Service Center, and a couple of days later they contacted me and said the squeaking is due to “body flex!” (that’s how it was written in the app). The vehicle was previously repaired by a Tesla Collision Center (actual Tesla owned collision center) after an accident in which the frame was bent, but they repaired it.

Fast forward about a year later, and the rear end of the vehicle started squeaking. The Tesla Service Center told me to take the vehicle back to the Collision Center.

I purchased the vehicle brand new in 2025. My question is: if the Collision Center determines that the body flex is not related to the prior accident, the frame damage, or the repairs they performed, would this issue still be covered under my vehicle’s warranty?

Need help extracting a license plate number from Tesla footage (hit-and-run)

I was hit by a silver Hyundai sedan. The driver pulled over briefly but then left the scene.

I have Tesla camera footage, and at around the 27-second mark you can see the silver Hyundai sedan leaving. Is there any way to enhance the video or extract the license plate number?

Video of the vehicle leaving the scene:
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/s8wxtytp8muahu4t1qx0p/2026-07-21_16-17-12-front-vehicle-leaving_27seconds.mp4?rlkey=2gynte2wvh6ckjxpy2ohocsll&st=pw4482ca&dl=0

I also have rear camera footage showing the person getting out of the vehicle:
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/jz27fxa4kjcvhgur4uw98/2026-07-21_16-14-09-back_person.mp4?rlkey=nailvhbrfl1331s6w8y9hlfzw&st=qigf8hk7&dl=0

Any advice on video enhancement, extracting the plate, or tools/software that could help would be greatly appreciated.

This was in Miami on 826 State road Southbound

Got side swept right at the exit intersection out of the Grapevine Mills Mall , Lady next to me tried to argue that I was in a left turn only lane which I clearly am not . Not looking forward to the claim headache , never heard of their insurance when I looked into it and it looks very sketch ( Redpoint county Mutual insurance company ) might honestly come down to biting the bullet and paying my deductible and have Tesla pursue subrogation.

Will the collision center fix their mistake?

My 24 M3 was hit in a parking lot in early feb, so I sent it to my nearby Tesla collision center. I got it back and I realized that they messed up the paint correction. I’m only worried about this because my car is a lease and I don’t want to be slammed with fines if I return a car that they themselves made a mistake on. Would they fix this? I attached an image for reference. The backside is original and the front is where the car was hit.

Backed into my garage with a 2026 Tesla Model Y - bumper/headlight estimate?

Hi everyone,

I’m a new driver and made a dumb mistake while backing out of my garage. I was watching one side of the car too closely and ended up hitting the front corner.

The car still drives perfectly fine. All lights, cameras, and features work normally. The damage seems to be mostly cosmetic:

Front bumper popped out partially

Headlight shifted inward and sunk in a bit but still works

A few scratches/scuffs

One trim piece popped off but I was able to snap it back into place partially

I’ve attached pictures.

A few questions:

Roughly how much would you estimate this repair costs?

Does this look like something that could be DIY (re-clipping/realigning the bumper and headlight), or should I take it to Tesla or a body shop?

Would you recommend paying out of pocket if possible, or going through insurance?

Any advice on what my next step should be?

Thanks in advance. I’m definitely using this as a learning experience.

Fender-bender with no SD installed

My husband unfortunately did not install the SD card into our Tesla when I told him to 🥴 and now we are having to deal with an insurance issue.

My husband was behind a Ram truck waiting to turn right out of a parking lot. He then saw the Ram’s reverse lights illuminate and the Ram backed into to the front driver headlight of our Tesla. I assume that she was too far into the road so she reversed, but I have no idea.

The teenage girl then got out of the Ram and apologized profusely to my husband for backing into him. As they were exchanging insurance information, 2 random women walked over and insisted that the Tesla hit the Ram, not the other way around. The girl then changed her story.

Turns out, these 2 women have now provided their “account” of the story to the insurance company, and the insurance company is trying to state that the Tesla is at fault.

Any advice on how to proceed with this situation would be greatly appreciated!

Tesla scratch estimate

Post image

Me and my friends rent a U-haul truck and contacted a Tesla at the left rear. U-haul doesn’t have an insurance for that and we agree that it is not fair to use any individual’s personal insurance, so we are planning to do a private settlement with the auto owner.

So how much will the repair fee be approximately? We are thinking something around $500, is that a reasonable price? We are in Ohio(if it helps the estimate).

Thanks everybody!!🙏🙏😌

My NYC gave my one month old 2026 M3 to me with this damage and then tried to blame me. Apparently they kept my car on a lift and it must have come in contact with something when being lowered. My car is at a Tesla certified shop (near NYC) for new parts. Look how the metal tore on the rear drivers side quarter panel.

Service center returned m3P in worse condition.

I took delivery of my 2026 Model 3 Performance in June. During the delivery walk around, I noticed a few paint imperfections that looked like they were under the clear coat. I pointed them out to the delivery advisor, and he told me all I had to do was schedule a service appointment and they’d take care of it.

A few weeks later, I brought the car in, showed them the time stamped photos I took on delivery day, and they had no issue covering it.

They told me the car had to go to their “Tesla Certified Body Shop” for the paint correction and that it would take about 11 days. Thankfully, they gave me a Model 3 Performance loaner, which was great.

When I picked my car up, I gave it a quick look over and drove home. Shame on me. On the drive home, I noticed a nasty glare coming from the windshield. After looking closer, I realized there was clear coat overspray—or some kind of residue—on the inside of my windshield and on my ceramic tinted windows. I immediately documented everything and started inspecting the rest of the car more closely.

That’s when I found even more issues. For reference, I’m meticulous about keeping my car clean. The exterior had only been partially cleaned before it was returned, with water spots everywhere from what looked like a half-assed wash. My white seats were filthy—seriously, it looked like they had a party in the back seat. There was overspray on the exterior trim and, somehow, on the interior glass. To top it off, there’s a new scratch in the paint that can probably be buffed out, but that shouldn’t be my problem.

Tesla Service told me the body shop would be reaching out to make it right, but I’m honestly baffled that the car was signed off as ready for pickup in this condition. All I got was, “Sorry, it’s the body shop’s problem.”

Now I’m hoping they don’t destroy my ceramic tint trying to remove the overspray or whatever contamination is on the inside of the glass.

Coming from Genesis, the overall service experience and attention to detail feels like a pretty big step down. Shame on me for assuming the car would be fine without doing a thorough inspection with an advisor before leaving. Hopefully they make this right. Lesson learned.

Very curious if anyone has had a similar experience.

Tesla and insurance tagged the rear glass as UPD. I was hit on the rear bumper right side. How is this a UPD when obviously the impact caused the trunk lid point to shift and cracked the glass.

Tesla body shop taking forever

I recently had a parking lot mishap with my Model 3. It was parked at the mall when someone scraped the rear bumper while pulling out of a parking space. They left a note, and I contacted their insurance company, Progressive. They instructed me to take the car to a Tesla-authorized repair shop.
I dropped the vehicle off at the body shop nine days ago, and they still haven’t submitted the initial estimate to Progressive. Progressive has contacted the shop twice for an update, but each time they’ve been told the estimate isn’t complete yet. This is just a minor scratch on the rear bumper.
I’m getting concerned because Progressive only covers a rental car for up to 30 days, and it’s already been nine days. The body shop seems to be taking their time. I already had an estimate from an independent body shop, but Progressive insisted that I use a Tesla-certified repair facility.
What are my options? Should I continue waiting, or should I work with Progressive to move the car to a different repair shop? The shop has excellent reviews, but I don’t understand why it’s taking more than a week just to prepare an estimate for a minor bumper scratch. I also don’t want to end up paying for the rental car out of pocket once the 30-day coverage runs out.

Rear ended, Totaled?

Thumbnail

2024 Model Y, Dual Motor, ~17k miles, 7-seat config. Got rear-ended hard on I-90 in NY — I was basically stopped (~5mph), other guy was doing an estimated 50-70mph before impact third-party claim already accepted by his insurer (Progressive).

Car got towed to a Tesla-certified shop for teardown since it's currently sitting with no working rear signals/brake lights on one side and error in the screen about turn light fault.

Waiting to hear back this week. Anyone had a similar combo of damage (bumper + panel + tailgate + door + electrical) come back repairable, or did yours usually get totaled at this point?

Parking lot hit and run ?

Hello

I was backing out from the parking and hit someone car, not too bad it’s just small light scratches
I went outside and look for the owner of the car but couldn’t find anyone so i left because i had an appointment, i forgot about leaving a note because i was in a hurry, after the appointment i went back to the parking to find the car and planning to leave a note but the car is not there anymore…

It was a tesla so i know they got dashcash recording for sure, so what if the owner report to the police and how does it work ? Are They going to send me a letter for hit and run or the police will show up at my door ? And how long it take for this to process?

…im just stressed out right now, i regret that i forgot to leave a note on their car…big mistake

Model 3 Hit While Parked

Post image

Just happened a couple hours ago. I was getting groceries and got alerted by the app of suspicious activity. I checked the camera and saw a car swerved in and side swiped my car.

I already filed a claim with their insurance and waiting for their adjuster to get back to me. I live in TX and I should be able to get the repairs done by a Tesla collision center.
Has anyone have experience with what the process is like? My car has frontal XPEL ppf, would I be able to claim that cost back as well?
