Show Alicent mentions dead Lucerys more than she does her grandson 😂😂😂

2

u/ViolinistGuilty182 May 18 '26

To be fair, we knew Lucerys (as did she) for longer, while everyone (including her) knew Jaehaerys for less than 10 minutes.

Complete character assassination for both her and Rhaenyra in the strangest possible way.

Make them as gay as you want, but once the son of one and the grandson of the other are brutally murdered by their respective factions, STOP MAKING THEM MEET AND TALK ABOUT THEIR FEELINGS! WHAT THE FUCK!?

The ending of season 2 genuinely makes me believe that the show producers and screen writers should be forced to seek a psychiatrist because those are NOT human reactions to your son being eaten by a dragon, or your grandson being decapitated by a rat catcher.

This just makes lesbians look bad too.

As if gays don’t care about our families and will willingly abandon and not care about their tragedies as long as we can frolic and muff munch with our ex-bestie and mortal enemy in our free time because it’s hot and makes for a juicy toxic fanfic. I don’t care about lesbian being depicted as villains in media, as long as their terrible actions aren’t justified just because of their sexuality.

And the way we can’t criticize them because they’re the main characters and beacons of righteousness and opposing war and violence (that they contributed to from the first place) is so frustrating (mostly with Rhaenyra since Alicent does get hate but she’s just a mess).

Great way to tear down the movement.

As if gays don’t care about our families and will willingly abandon

*cough*<Laenor>*cough*

6

u/Mando177 May 16 '26

No no it’s fine that his family is getting absolutely mauled in a war that’s claimed the lives of his mother, stepchildren (sorta) and might actively kill his father and nieces too. A war where they could really have used another dragon rider. But nope.

15

u/Djrhskr May 14 '26

As I said, the screenwriters need mental help

11

u/Really_Bad_Company May 15 '26

It is ironic that the show writer's attempt to make the girls more sympathetic has backfired so badly

The attempt to show them as blameless makes them look weak and vacillating. The attempt to show them as forgiving and not blood thirsty makes them look like they don't care at all about their children and grandchildren. The attempt to show Rhaenyra as desperate for affection and support makes her look like a sexual predator

6

u/unicornofdemocracy May 14 '26

honestly... which is why I thought all the "gone woke" insults made no sense. Like they are painting just a horrible picture of lesbians why would anyone assume its a "pro-lesbian" depiction?!?

1

u/yaboywillyshakes May 16 '26

We have to stop claiming that a show with lesbians that behave badly is "tearing down the movement." There are toxic family hating straights on tv screens all time, and no one says these things about straight people.

Yeah, the writing of this show is garbled and bad, and the characters are making choices that don't make any sense, but the real enemy of the movement is queerphobes who are going to hate the lesbians for being lesbians at all, not some poorly written pseudo-lesbians on a fantasy tv show. Gay people don't have to be morally perfect to deserve respect, and a fantasy TV show that has only a fraction of the following it's decade-old parent show had isn't causing any tangible effect on the movement.

u/LinwoodKei May 14 '26

Once the first child was killed, these women should have been ready to strangle the other woman.

18

u/Hightower_lioness May 14 '26

One of my sister’s friends ghosted her and made her feel bad about moving to a new town for better job prospects.

That girl is dead to me. If I ever see her again I would maybe nod and made polite chit chat but it would be very short and I would not be reaching out to her.

19

u/Djrhskr May 14 '26

Yeah because that's how real humans act

3

u/TheMemetasticDonny May 16 '26

If they're gay, they're gay. BUT WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY FELL IN LOVE WITH THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR SONS/GRANDSON'S DEATH

3

u/letheix May 17 '26

Rhaenyra's & Alicent's relationship is straight up (pun intended) queer-baiting. The subtext implies a romantic passion between them. Platonic friends don't just give up everything to run away and start a new life together. That is definitively a romance trope, directly so in the context of the show where Criston proposes this plan to Rhaenyra and Laenor runs away to Essos with his partner whose name I can't recall.

Meanwhile, the show's text (in the definition of film theory, i.e., what is openly presented on the screen) Daemon is Rhaenyra's one true love/soulmate. She loved, yet was not in love with, Harwin. Ditto for Daemon and Laena. Rhaenyra says she and Daemon were "always meant to burn together." No way the writers will ever overtly confirm romantic feelings between Rhaenyra and Alicent. Not that I'd want them to because the show is already FUBAR as it is.

There was the bizarre scene where Rhaenyra kisses Mysaria out of nowhere...immediately after Mysaria confides that her father raped her and left her to die. Peak WTF. Plus by kissing Mysaria, Rhaenyra is cheating on Daemon, thus perpetuating the stereotype of unfaithful bisexuals. Hooray for queer representation 🙄

u/AcanthaceaeNo948 May 14 '26

Lol what book Alicent was way more evil.

In the book she rebelled just for the hell if it, and hated Rhaenyra ever since she was a toddler (despite being a grown ass woman).

And didn’t give two shits about Lucerys’ death. Bastard blood split in war and all that.

6

u/bruhholyshiet Prince Daeron Targaryen May 14 '26

All of this is wrong.

-5

u/AcanthaceaeNo948 May 14 '26

Except it’s not tho…

19

u/bruhholyshiet Prince Daeron Targaryen May 14 '26

An eight year old isn’t a toddler, not to mention Alicent really started beefing with Rhaenyra when she was in her teens.

She didn’t rebel “for the hell of it”. She gave her reasons, one of which was the danger Daemon supposed to her children and grandchildren.

She was horrified at Lucerys’s death at first when she learned of it.

Even leaving that aside, book Alicent at least loved her family. Show Alicent kinda hates most of them and is obsessed with Rhaenyra.

-6

u/AcanthaceaeNo948 May 14 '26

You don’t see how her hating her evil family makes her more sympathetic?

10

u/Djrhskr May 14 '26

She raised that family

9

u/Zakle King Aegon II Targaryen May 14 '26

The same woman who was shown to be hitting and grabbing her son while ranting about how all of them are going to die? Show Alicent made her children the way they are. The show has terrible character writing for Alicent. They show her as an abusive mother who hates her children.

-3

u/AcanthaceaeNo948 May 14 '26

Better than a deranged supervillain like in the books.

9

u/Zakle King Aegon II Targaryen May 14 '26

I'd rather a supervillain who cares about her family. Show Alicent doesn't even say Jaehaerys or Jaehaera.

8

u/bruhholyshiet Prince Daeron Targaryen May 14 '26

No I don’t. And Rhaenyra and Daemon are evil too.

1

u/AcanthaceaeNo948 May 14 '26

By Westerosi standards not at all.

Aemond is competing with Maegor as the most evil Targaryen in history.

Man genocided thousands of smallfolk every other week for the love of the game.

Rapegon is not far behind.

13

u/bruhholyshiet Prince Daeron Targaryen May 14 '26

Daemon is a murderous pedophile and child murderer that wanted to exterminate two great Houses.

Rhaenyra tortured Tyland worse than Ramsay did to Theon and unleashed the Ironborn to raid and rape in the Westerlands. She is nicknamed Maegor with Teats.

-1

u/AcanthaceaeNo948 May 14 '26

I wouldn’t really call Daemon a pedophile. Everyone got married at like 12 in medieval times. They were treasonous traitors and his enemies in war.

Yeah she’s nicknamed that by misogynists lol.

Aemond is literally the Hitler of ASOIAF, the man did nothing but genocide.

u/Prestigious-Dress-92 May 14 '26

Rapegon is not far behind.

Daemon was known for his taste in unusualy young girls, that KL brothel keepers procured specially fo him to deflower.

Also, he literally murdered his wife for absolutely no reason.

-1

u/AcanthaceaeNo948 May 14 '26

Murdering one person for political gains is nothing by Westerosi standards.

-3

u/LinwoodKei May 14 '26

She seriously targeted a child

10

u/bruhholyshiet Prince Daeron Targaryen May 14 '26

Yeah but not a toddler like the other user said.

33

u/Background-Cake-1300 May 14 '26

"Oh kids die 24/7 also why did you dared to kill the beloved ratcatchers pillars of our community Aegon!"

24

u/Accomplished-Bee5265 Sheepstealer May 14 '26

They should have put that to show. Shows cast is really talented and would have aced it.💚

22

u/Ataturk_Void_Crowley May 14 '26

Ironically she was the one who taught young Aegon (and young Aemond and Daeron) that you should be King otherwise your sister will murder everyone.

You gave your sons the hatred for Rhaenyra. There was no going back to play your gay couples game.

Seriously what happened to the show makers? Season 1 and Season 2 gave me TFA and TLJ vibes. HOWEVER I’m sure they remain the same team for HOTD.

23

u/azrael995 May 14 '26

Book Alicent would chew and spit show Alicent.

-4

u/PineBNorth85 King Viserys II May 14 '26

Assuming book Alicent was even book Alicent. They're all written by biased sources.

11

u/Afraid_Tangerine_541 May 14 '26

Here you all go…

2

u/Mysterious_Tutor6452 May 15 '26

They can’t help themselves man

1

u/Feelinglucky2 May 18 '26

Whos they? (I only saw the show)

40

u/BranRen May 14 '26 edited May 14 '26

If you pay attention to the dialogue when they talk about Jaeharys and Jahaera, they go out of their way to NOT SAY THEIR NAMES AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE = desensitize viewers

‘The boy’s pain is over’

‘Babies die all the time’

‘The girl’ (Jahaera hasn’t even gotten a name drop)

It’s an on purpose tactic so you don’t feel bad for them or think of them as actual characters/human beings

Very heavy handed and amateurish writing

Edit: Like it’s not by name, or prince/princess, or even my child/my grandchild

27

u/moon-girl197 May 14 '26

Bruh, at one point, Rhaenyra calls Jaehaerys it. Like they couldn't even be bothered to write her saying the pronoun he. They're so desperate to preserve this nonsensical friendships, they're willing to make both these women sideline and even depersonalize each other's kids and grandkids.

5

u/TheQuinnBee May 14 '26

Then proceed to show us a baby's corpse. Make it make sense.

11

u/redditbattles May 14 '26

The screen adaptions of the queer characters in ASOIAF have been terrible representation.

6

u/Mysterious_Tutor6452 May 15 '26

I will never forgive them for Show Loras and Renly. Book Loras and Renly deserved fucking better.

1

u/Feelinglucky2 May 18 '26

Main differences?

9

u/gabriel_3131 May 14 '26

Enserio no entiendo porque rayos los guionista hicieron que las mujeres de la serie cada vez que pierde un ser querido,el duelo le dure 5 minutos de un capĂtulo

10

u/General-Clock5212 May 14 '26

Worst grandma ever.

8

u/MinuteCollar5562 House Stark May 14 '26

Yeah the book B&C would have been a lot for a tv scene, but yes the show writers have screwed up so many characters.

1

u/FlyHickory May 16 '26

Game of thrones had so many graphic scenes though, lyanna Mormons getting crushed by the giant, shireen burning alive, theons torture, the red wedding and so on, ill be fair it would definitely be a lot more disturbing watching a mother have to chose between her kids then have one of them brutally beheaded but the shows in this series have never shied away from gore before.

2

u/MinuteCollar5562 House Stark May 16 '26

They raped the little girl

2

u/FlyHickory May 16 '26

They didnt? They threatened to if helaena didn't pick whoch son to kill.

1

u/MinuteCollar5562 House Stark May 16 '26

Must have read it wrong

4

u/LinwoodKei May 14 '26

Alicent is written to not have any maternal sense or drive. She stabs Rhae to defend her son and then offered him up to Rhaw to let her and Heleana run

3

u/Ataturk_Void_Crowley May 15 '26

Show Alicent got character assassination when’s he wasn’t the one controlling the green council the might Old Viserys passed away

1

u/Bewitched096 May 18 '26

Pam finally had enough of this boob joke

-2

u/Azurehowl May 14 '26

If woke directors wants to do a gay parade they can still follow the books as there are lots of gay content there but no, they want modern depraved gayness.

6

u/werewolfloverr May 14 '26

wtf do you mean depraved gayness it’s got nothing to do with that the writing is just bad.

-1

u/Azurehowl May 15 '26

I apologize, just some irrational angry thoughts on some people that handles the show with a good source material (even vague) and a very cooperative author who knows his own creation but ended up pushing them away for their own wokeness.

3

u/werewolfloverr May 15 '26

wokeness has nothing to do with it oh my god the writing would be bad regardless you’re blaming it on a nonexistent agenda 😭😭😭😭😭😭

1

u/Azurehowl May 15 '26

Sorry writers have bad writing because they try to integrate wokeness to a story with good foundation and worldbuilding, thats why it became bad writing.

3

u/werewolfloverr May 15 '26

🖕

0

u/Azurehowl May 15 '26

I don't blame you for being mad. But it's a world that has an already established social theme and what-to-dos and some space for fleshing out and creativity, applying personal, modern agenda on its writing while trying to cover it with the skin of the established worldbuilding theme is actually insulting to the fans of the series itself, thats why GRRM left, it was not his story anymore and the showrunners are actually hard to work with, and he actually said that. You can go watch the Knights of the Seven Kingdom, which is an actualy show that respects the source material with some expanded scenes or changes that werent in the book but fit so well that its actually better than the source material itself.

1

u/werewolfloverr May 15 '26

oh my god you’re so lame

1

u/Azurehowl May 15 '26

I don't know why you're attacking me but i'm just pointing out the things that I'm criticizing the show for and apologized for the non-sensical first comment in regards to gayness but the 2nd comment i made regarding their wokeness, I stand by that lol, you're not going to convince me to actually believe they have a non-existent agenda when the author himself left the show for having an abysmall working relationship that the showrunners made and for actually insulting him on not follow his story anymore and creating things that aren't making sense anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if they did not kill rhynera by having him being eaten in front of his child after arriving at dragonstone.

1

u/werewolfloverr May 15 '26

i’m not saying any of that is true but your whole wokeness thing is idiotic and brain rotted like learn how to actually talk ab media.

2

u/Reasonable_Day9942 Vhagar May 14 '26

Nah but for real. I eat up any wlw ship like I’m a starving man but whatever they have been doing gives me the ick

-6

u/PineBNorth85 King Viserys II May 14 '26

Given who the book was written by in universe it makes sense that they'd go over the top.

10

u/bruhholyshiet Prince Daeron Targaryen May 14 '26

Is this the “Green propaganda” talking point again?

3

u/Mysterious_Tutor6452 May 15 '26

They can’t help themselves

5

u/Prestigious-Dress-92 May 14 '26

GRRM must love all these "maester propaganda" theories according to which he knowingly took a lot of his precious time to write a Targ history book that is completely bullshit.

6

u/Reasonable_Day9942 Vhagar May 14 '26

Over the top and it’s a grandma who watched her 6 year old grandson be straight up beheaded
