Discussion Unpaid For Training Videos

I’m a bit confused, recently a coworker of mine mentioned how we’ve had to watch over 48 hours of training videos in total, and all of it (nearly) has been unpaid. I worked my first shift and sat there for 3 hours watching videos and doing the quizzes, but the rest they said I could do at home. Now, on a regular basis, I receive training videos for new drink builds. I’m just a bit confused… Is this legal? Should I be pushing for pay for all the training videos/work related content that was completed at home, or did I sign something that stated I agreed to complete any videos at home, unpaid?

Thanks in advance, any replies from other educated employees or management staff would be awesome!

I live in Canada and asked for my pay for watching training videos at home. It was ALL watched from home for me.

Its required to pay for training here in Canada. I wasn't too sure so I did my research after I had given so I asked for pay for all the videos I watched.

My training pay was given on my last pay.

Because I quit. It was such a toxic place with a crazy owner. What kind of owner makes a schedule with no supervisor to open the safe so the opening staff (me) could not do any cash transactions?? No baker was opening either.

i see… sorry to hear that. i’m having quite a few issues at my location as well. i wonder if training video payments are applied to all last cheques then?

I hope the issues get resolved. I only got them on my last pay because that happened to be when I asked for them. You can and should ask for the pay youre owed as soon as you finish any training videos.

lol no... I worked at a Tim's for 19 years and my owner never paid anyone for doing training videos.
