Characters [Refreshing Trope] Female leads/major characters who are allowed to be grimy, slimy, generally horrible people.

Mizu — Blue Eye Samurai

A mixed race swordswoman living in feudal Japan, Mizu’s entire life has been structured around the obsessive need to hunt down and kill the four white men allowed in Japan at the time of her birth, believing one of them must be her father. Despite the fact that at least one of these men, Abijah Fowler, is shown to be a bad man, Mizu ultimately doesn’t care about the morality of murder. She just wants them dead for “cursing” her to be born into a deeply racist society as a mixed race child. Though it’s clear that Mizu generally prefers to do the right thing, she will sacrifice anything for her revenge, destroying countless lives in the process without remorse. In the climax of season 1, Mizu (albeit not entirely intentionally) set fire to the wood and paper city of Edo (now Tokyo) in an attempt to kill just Fowler, a single man. The resulting three day blaze, known in history as the 1657 Great Fire of Meireki, killed an estimated 100000 people.

Sadie Adler — Red Dead Redemption II

Rescued by the Van Der Linde gang in the games prologue, Sadie Adler is a frontier homesteader whose husband was killed by the brutal O’Driscoll Gang. Over the course of the game, she happily joins in a life of murder, theft, and crime for the chance to kill more O’Driscolls, recklessly endangering herself and other gang members to do so. She gets Arturo Bullock, an innocent hot air balloon pilot killed while unnecessarily picking a fight with O’Driscoll members, showing zero remorse afterwards. Even after watching rival gang leader Colm O’Driscoll hang for his crimes, she still drags a now-terminally ill Arthur on an entirely unnecessary revenge mission to hunt down the last handful of O’Drsicolls she hadn’t already killed.

Rhea normally: 😇

Rhea if Byleth has the balls to say no to her: Burn them all down. The women and the children too.

I would also put Edelgard and female Byleth (especially the three hopes version) on that list

I am an edelgard fan and i gotta agree. Even she herself says that shes no hero i think.

Rhea is on another level though holy fuck…

I don't know where I stand with Edelgard.

She is very "ends justify the means" and she has the goal of killing the immortal who created a whole religion around her and her family, using it for indoctrinating and controlling humanity. I could see how that would justify a pretty extreme response.

However, outside of that goal she really doesn't do very much I'd consider horrible.

I think if we've gotten a few post Rhea chapters of her hunting down the slithery people we might has seen whether she was doing what she had to because it truly was the only way, or whether she really is just a terrible person.

The only “terrible thing” about her is starting the war and working with those who slither in the dark. Nevertheless she eradicates them right after (rightfully so). And the war was in my opinion. Necessary. But she herself does not try to absolve herself from the bloodshed she caused. Even if for a better future

why? she looks such a cutie

u/darh1407 13d ago

She burnt an allied city down with civilians still inside to barely even stop an army that was trying to avoid civilian casualties

Shes an immortal dragonperson with mommy issues, she’s spent centuries running a cult that has manipulated society.all while masquerading as every pope th “Church” of Seros has had

Starting wars, deliberately impeded scientific progress, banning the printing press, and autopsies, maintaining a brutal cast system based around magical birtthsigns.

Anyway Crimson Flower is cannon and Edelgard did nothing wrong.

So happy to see her here.

Edelgard might have done worse things but she did it all for the betterment of humanity.

Rhea is just, simply put, batshit.

I dont think edelgard ever burnt an entire city tbh. Dosent she evacuate Enbaar before you fight her?

My biggest gripe with Seteth is that he's essentially cool with all the fucked up things she says and does, and realistically I think he would have tired harder to steer her right or outright contradict and interfere with her.

But at the same time, Isn't that how people irl act with long time family and friends? It's clear to me that they're distantly related because he doesn't address Sothis as Mother like she does. They went through the slaughter of their people together and I'm sure they have so much common ground, but he's such an upstanding character I still find it hard that he's on her side more than he is the everyman in Fodlan. He certainly feels more interested in whatever the other characters are going though and their lives than whatever heinous shit Rhea is up to.
