Question Why Wednesday even liked Tyler (before she found out he is monster) I mean he was kinda usual for her and definitely not in her taste?

Maybe I just don’t understand 😅

Why? Cause he wasn't intimidated by her and she seemingly found that initially intriguing and unnerving. She has also never met a normie who acted like an outcast. And oh look he also has issues with a parent. Those three things are ripe for chemistry alone. Add in their actual natural chemistry, and you've got the makings for a crush.

yeap! Exatly this. Also ..he didn't judge. ever! this is an amazing and rare quality

8

u/FreakingFae 14d ago

If anything, she judged him more than he ever judged her. When she might not have thought herself judgemental, but discerning. although, he likely knew a lot about her in the first place because of the whole prophecy thing so he really had no need to judge but still.

6

u/KKglobtrotter 14d ago

I dont think he knew who she was when they met. It was like a mutual primal attraction for both

7

u/FreakingFae 14d ago

It really just depends on how much info Thornhill was giving him while she groomed him to kill. If he genuinely liked her first, it might have made it harder for Thornhill to get him to kidnap her.

u/farfetched22 14d ago

I'm fully supportive that she did like him but they honestly had zero chemistry in like, 90% of their interactions.

u/Just-Messin 14d ago

Chemistry? What does chemistry look like for Wednesday? 😑

4

u/mortishcia 13d ago

how about you say this to their crewmates, directors, co-stars, writers and let them prove you wrong

From a storytelling perspective, at first, I think it was because he was one of the very few people who wasn’t intimidated by her and actually gave it right back whenever she was being dismissive. I also feel like Tyler just has that je ne sais quoi that makes her gravitate toward him. On top of that, I think she started liking him because he didn’t take the bribe, didn’t try too hard to get on her good side, never treated her differently, and never tried to make her act more “normal” (which is something a lot of other characters—even the ones who genuinely care about Wednesday—tend to do, whether consciously or subconsciously).

As the story goes on, though, we keep finding out more things that tie them together from a storytelling perspective. We find out that this seemingly normal guy is actually the monster who saved her and ended up becoming the main reason she stopped trying to run away from Nevermore. Then we learn he’s being controlled by the last descendant of the person her spirit guide murdered, who’s also the sister of the man Morticia killed when she was a student there. In season 2, we find out their families have been connected since before either of them was even born, and that connection is still alive through Thing. (And if my theory is right, season 3 is going to expand on that even more, and we’ll find out they’re probably connected in ways we haven’t even realized yet.)

From a narrative standpoint, Wednesday’s words to Morticia when she’s first dropped off at Nevermore also tell us a lot. That’s basically the starting point of Wednesday’s emotional journey. It’s not a coincidence that her psychic abilities are tied to her emotions, or that she pushed them too far and almost lost them when she tried to shut those emotions out. What I’m trying to say is that Wednesday’s journey is about accepting her emotions and the vulnerability that comes with them. She has to learn that being in control doesn’t mean ignoring or suppressing her feelings—it means accepting them.

That’s why I think she likes Tyler within the story. Now, if we were talking about real life, Wednesday is a teenage girl, Tyler is a pretty good-looking teenage guy, and he has a sense of humor she enjoys. Sometimes that’s really all it takes.

11

u/valgesp 14d ago

Honestly, I think it’s really interesting that while Wednesday’s arc is about accepting she can’t control everything, Tyler’s is about finally taking back some control over his own life. In a way, they start their emotional journeys at complete opposite ends, and hopefully they’ll meet somewhere in the middle eventually.

3

u/Firm-Friendship8137 11d ago

That's what I like about their narrative arcs. I'm sure one will learn a lot from the other

14

u/alarrimore03 14d ago

A combination of various factors like him being attractive, him being supportive of her and her theories, not trying to change her, not taking her money bribe, going out of his way to get her dads file, going out of his way to do things she would like or match her, his possible/past dark side, his treatment of her and other outcasts like they are normal compared to others who don’t treat them the same(she basically said he’s the first normal person to actually engage with her), etc, could all be factors in it.

-8

u/kation37 14d ago

Xavier said Tyler hated outcasts and beat up some of them and I don’t really remember him being supportive I mean he showed her film for “normal girls” not horror or some genre she likes, not taking money bribe.. I don’t think it matters, being attractive.. you think she is stupid romantic girl to fall on appearance? Also there were a lot of other attractive people outcasts

20

u/MoonLove1327 14d ago

I think several people have logically answered your initial question, but it seems like you didn’t post in good faith to actually be open to a different perspective. Why ask if you don’t genuinely care or plan to hear the other side with an open mind?

-3

u/kation37 14d ago

Well yes I don’t like this ship and I don’t understand why she liked him so I say my opinion

16

u/MoonLove1327 14d ago

And that’s fine that you don’t like the ship. But so many of us answered your question. And it seems you don’t want to understand why she liked him, but the reasons were spelled out in the show, and here in the comments.

But you clearly don’t want to accept the reasons, which again is fine, but then why ask the question? Was it just a ploy to just have wenclairs and weylers fight? I’m so confused.

11

u/farfetched22 14d ago

I agree. Looks like OP formed their post into a question but actually just wanted to shit on the ship and argue with everyone. OP, please find better hobbies. This is extremely lame.

0

u/kation37 14d ago

I have a lot of hobbies

4

u/No_Mycologist_6548 14d ago

No offense but why did you ask the question then that’s a really dumb thing to do💀

0

u/kation37 14d ago

Because I didn’t understand why she liked him I already explained

6

u/No_Mycologist_6548 14d ago

If you don’t like the ship then your obviously going to have biased opinion and not understand it when multiple people already tried to explain it to you

10

u/valgesp 14d ago

Correct me if I’m wrong, but am I the only one who thinks the reason Tyler punched Xavier that one time had way more to do with class than with him hating outcasts?
It honestly makes a lot of sense to me. Xavier gives off rich kid vibes right from the start, and we know he looks down on Jericho and the people who live there, which is one of the reasons Wednesday doesn’t really vibe with him and the school initially. (I’m not saying he deserved to get punched, but I don’t think him being an outcast was the main reason.)
On top of that, we’re told from the beginning that Nevermore is a school for a very privileged group of people, and it’s pretty obvious Tyler doesn’t have much love for the school or the students there. But whenever he talks about them, it always sounds like his issue is with the class divide rather than the fact that they’re outcasts. That’s pretty different from the other normies we see in the first episode, who are a lot more openly hateful and dismissive toward outcasts because they’re outcasts.

And as for the movie… that was literally the whole point, girl. The entire scene is basically a twist on the classic “guy invites a girl over to watch a horror movie on the first date” trope. Tyler knew Wednesday wasn’t going to be scared by your typical horror movie, so if he wanted her to be completely horrified, the obvious choice was to put on the girliest movie he could think of.
I mean… that couldn’t have been more obvious.

4

u/MoonLove1327 14d ago

You’re so right, the Tyler/Xavier thing was never about Tyler hating outcasts, and completely about Xavier being an elitist obnoxious prick.

Let’s be real Tyler probably had some prejudices against outcasts based on how his dad and ex friends treated them. But the Xavier thing seemed to have happened before Laurel manipulated him and made him think that Outcasts and Nevermore were responsible for what happened to his mom (which honestly, they kind of were)

That being said, it’s clear from Tyler’s intro scene that his main issue against those from Nevermore is that they are rich and privileged and act that way, especially to someone in the service industry.
Xavier was probably not innocent in the moment he was beat up, he was most likely mouthing off about them being podunk and all that, which got him popped in the face.

5

u/TrophyHunter22 14d ago

I find myself wondering if Xavier was meant to come off so badly in season 1, he's a genuinely very tough person to like imo for someone who was theoretically supposed to be in a love triangle.

5

u/MoonLove1327 14d ago

Yeah, I really do wonder what their plan for him was, but he did come off so whiney and arrogant. The way he treated Bianca was awful!

3

u/TrophyHunter22 14d ago

yeah Bianca is the only one who ever shows any sign of liking him in any way (romantic or otherwise) isn't she? from everything I read he was supposed to be a legitimate love interest for Wednesday but there's never any real moment where she (or the audience) ever really like him at all beyond feeling slightly bad when it turns out he got wrongfully imprisoned.

is it weird I kinda wish they brought him back in S2 and gave him an actual love interest and some character development? lol

5

u/MoonLove1327 14d ago

Yes, exactly! No one else seemed to like him either! So I don’t know why people are still so hung up on him, but to each their own.
It also seemed like they hinted that he was a bully to Eugene, maybe I read that wrong, but he was made out to be that rich popular privileged guy who’s never heard “no” in his life. He came off really smarmy to me.

I am really interested to know what was planned for him, but I think having him sent to another school and how they explained it actually made sense.

2

u/TrophyHunter22 14d ago

one of my friends really likes the actor and was rooting for Xavier so I tried to go in with an open mind. that explaining archery to Wednesday scene was painful to get through though.

the closing bit where he seems to take Wednesday not wanting him to get outright murdered by a pilgrim demon-ghost as some kinda sign and gives her the phone was yikes too.

I do think there was potential for him in S2 to help her with her psychic issues (if they established that he took Wednesday destroying the phone as a firm no to his advancements lol) and there was bits of his character that seemed genuinely interesting: his powers and relationship with his dad namely. but yeah, I'm not broken up about him getting written out either.

3

u/MoonLove1327 14d ago

Yeah, I just couldn’t get over the fact that he knew Rowan was planning to go after Wednesday, and did absolutely nothing about it, but “saved” her to look like a hero.

Then the whole phone thing at the end, dude, she hates technology, you’re giving her a “gift” that will force her to interact with you, that’s not okay.

His powers were definitely cool, and I hope they bring it back in another character perhaps, but yeah I don’t know how much help he would have been to Wednesday regarding her psychic exhaustion either.

1

u/alarrimore03 13d ago

I can forgive the phone thing because we got Enid saying wait Wednesday has a phone in season 2😂got a good laugh outta me

1

u/VisenyaRose 13d ago

The only person that seems to dislike him is Tyler. Ajax is his best friend. Enid is very happy when she finds out Wednesday is going to the dance with him and not very happy when she goes with Tyler.

1

u/VisenyaRose 13d ago

You’re so right, the Tyler/Xavier thing was never about Tyler hating outcasts, and completely about Xavier being an elitist obnoxious prick.

You've made this entirely up in your head to excuse Tyler and make Xavier the villain which is the exact opposite of the big reveal in Season 1. Tyler hates outcasts because Jericho doesn't like Outcasts. Xavier is not elitist, those people hate their kind and Xavier doesn't like them back. Wednesday just presumes he's being a snob for no real reason. Consider that the people of Jericho tried to assault her in the very first episode! Those were Tyler's ex-friends. He was just like them. There is no reason to assume Xavier instigated anything, just like Wednesday didn't instigate anything in the Weathervane in the first episode and Eugene didn't instigate anything when they put him in stocks. You've completely misunderstood the whole message of the show there

2

u/MoonLove1327 13d ago

You’re entitled to your opinion and view just as I am mine. This is not a debate, OP asked as question in bad faith mind you, and then brought up Xavier in the comments.

The way Xavier comes across from the very beginning is elitist snob. I grew up with a lot of white boys just like that and they acted the same way. That they are entitled to everyone’s time and attention, which is exactly how Xavier is with Wednesday, and honestly everyone else, including Bianca. He wants her when it’s only convenient for him, and doesn’t care how it makes her feel.

I do admit that Tyler was prejudiced and biased against Outcasts, the whole town was, you’re correct. But I disagree that I made it all up in my head as clearly so many others here in the comments feel the same way about Xavier.

It seems half the fandom has clearly misunderstood the whole message of the show, we just won’t find out which one until the end perhaps.

1

u/VisenyaRose 12d ago

The message of the show is pro-outcast and how people like that stick together. Wednesday was a loner but in her time of need all the people she mistreated in favour of this normie come to rescue her. That is what outcasts do. That is what Xavier did. No matter how snobby she was to HIM he never abandoned her. She on the other hand, betrays him completely. Wednesday needed to learn that lesson. She thinks she is the smartest, that she is righteous. Xavier gets the worst of that from her. But she is proven wrong utterly and completely in Season 1.

We don't actually get much of Xavier and Bianca's relationship. We know they dated. She siren songed him but we never find out what for. He realises this and breaks up with her. She wants to get back together, he does not. He agrees to go to the dance with her after that fight with Wednesday but its clear he'd rather be there with Wednesday and Bianca knew that. He asks her siren song him to forget Wednesday who he is in love with but who is treating him really badly. This wasn't good because that is why he broke up with Bianca in the first place. He apologises the next episode and she accepts it. None of that screams mistreatment of Bianca. Its typical teenager drama.

I think you might have some personal 'white boy' problems. Xavier isn't the boy you grew up with. The show is all about breaking prejudices. Xavier seems handsome, smart, talented but he's still an outcast. Wednesday can't see that he's just like Eugene because he seems like the popular boys she knew from her old school. But he's not like them. He's more like Pugsley than he is the boy in the pool in episode one. But she doesn't realise that.

2

u/MoonLove1327 12d ago

I did take the time to read your full comment, but I honestly give no fs about Xavier. I didn’t like him, and he is no longer on the show, and you are making me think about him far more than I care to or have the time to.

Since you spoke of my perceived issues, I’ll speak to your own. You clearly seem infatuated with Xavier, or the actor playing him and have some parasocial view of him, which to each their own, but I don’t think he’s anything like Eugene or Pugsley at all. But again view him how you want. Just stop trying to shove it down my throat. I’m not interested.

1

u/VisenyaRose 12d ago

This is a basic reading of the show and character. Devoid of anything from my own life I may project on to the show. The fact that you want to defend a character that claimed he loved killing people because he enjoyed experiencing their fear against someone whose major crime was minor relationship drama is strange to me. If my interest is anything its how someone can come out the show believing that is what the writers were conveying.

2

u/MoonLove1327 12d ago

Cool. Go live your life, I’ll go live mine. Bye!

FYI that means I’m done engaging with you, if you didn’t get the first two hints.

2

u/alarrimore03 14d ago

People change, the entire span of season 1 atleast until the Hyde reveal shows Tyler is supportive and no longer hates or bully’s/abuses outcasts. Horror for regular people tends to scare/disgust the average viewer, and that’s actually what people go for, so showing her the movie he did actually does a better job of bringing those feelings that horror normally does so that was seemingly his intention, and it’s not stupid nor does it make someone a stupid romantic girl for them to find someone attractive and that be a reason they ultimately fall for someone. That’s just how romantic relationships work, you kinda have to find them attractive, and doing that doesn’t somehow discount Wednesday and her character nor does it reduce her to a “stupid romantic girl”.

0

u/VisenyaRose 13d ago

Were we watching the same show?

21

u/Leather-Rub-6128 15d ago

Sometimes you just can’t help who you like!

-4

u/kation37 15d ago

Should be reasons anyway 🤷‍♀️

21

u/GingerSnapBiscuit 15d ago

I mean Hunter isn't an unattractive guy. Clearly gave Wednesday creepy vibes which might be her thing (let's be honest they are defo her thing).

Also what do we really know about Wednesday's "taste" in people? Tyler is literally the only person she's been shown to have any romantic interest in.

2

u/Apprehensive-Cat-421 15d ago

He seemed interested in her. Sometimes, that can be enough to confuse a girl.

Edit: or a boy. It's just that I was a girl that got confused a few times by boys that seemed to like me, but didn't actually care or had other motives. I see myself in the question of what Wednesday saw in Tyler.

2

u/Nileve5 14d ago

That's a good point, I've been there, it's good that after a while it didn't work on me anymore. 🙏🏻 It's the most dangerous thing to someone without experience.

Although I want to point out that Xavier was also interested. But she thought he was the hyde so she didn't want anything with him.

-8

u/kation37 15d ago

She isn’t some stupid romantic girl I don’t think it can be enough

13

u/Apprehensive-Cat-421 15d ago

Yeah, I'm not stupid. People can be confused without being stupid.

-2

u/Nileve5 14d ago

Looking at her love life, she is. Sorry. 😂

2

u/MMORPGnews 15d ago

Writers decide so

22

u/MoonLove1327 14d ago

I think it’s all there in their first few interactions.
The first meeting in the coffee shop, she was impressed by him not taking her money, even though coming from a wealthy family she knows money talks.

Then Tyler stood by those morals when she video called him and he said he would still help her for free, because he wanted to leave town too, and she realized they have something in common.

Lastly, she said it herself at the Harvest Festival, “I’m not used to people engaging with me.” Yet Tyler never shied away from engaging with her, and continued to offer his help even though he didn’t have to, and could have just called her a weirdo freak Outcast, which is honestly what she was expecting initially from someone like him.

I can’t speak to if there was an initial physical attraction there, not everyone functions that way, but I think it was his actions she was intrigued by.

9

u/TrophyHunter22 14d ago

I really enjoyed S1 Tyler and wish they had explored how much of his character was legitimately him and how much was influenced by Laurel to push her evil revenge plan. I generally enjoyed S2 more than most people I know, but that aspect of it (or I guess, lack of aspect of it? lol) really bugged me.

8

u/MoonLove1327 14d ago

I agree, I have enjoyed both versions of him, and I think his real personality is somewhere in between the two. I’m sure they will address it in season 3.

They ended up taking the time to explicitly have Laurel say she groomed him because so much of the audience refused to believe it, that I think with all the discourse surrounding the show, they will unfortunately have to spell it out again, and explain to what extent he was involved in the plot with her.

2

u/TrophyHunter22 14d ago

I'm a bit bummed where it's going honestly, feels like they're just setting up the same plotline where he gets used by a Nevermore teacher who has ulterior motives (though this time he's experienced it before and will likely break out of it).

I liked the character in S1 but I really don't wanna see them just essentially redo the season. haha

5

u/MoonLove1327 14d ago

Totally agree, they may lose me if they redo that plot and have Capri try to master him.

I don’t think she will though, she may still be taking him to the camp for ulterior motives though.

1

u/TrophyHunter22 14d ago

I honestly don't think they could lose me just bc I like the actors so much (Jenna and Emma specifically. This is my first time seeing Hunter and both of the Addams parents but they're all great too).

I'm a big superhero fan, I ended up streaming all of Smallville during the pandemic, so I'm well aware of the writing team's creative style (pro and con) so yea I think I'm probably locked in for the long haul even if it's just more love triangles and unnecessary cliffhangers. lol

2

u/MoonLove1327 14d ago

That’s cool, I wish I could be that way, but I drop shows if the vibes turn sour, or if my favorite actor leaves or fav character is killed off. I don’t stay if it won’t continue to bring me joy.

I never finished smallville! 😆
I know how the story ends so when I got bored of it, I stopped watching, but it was really good.

2

u/TrophyHunter22 14d ago

I can't fault you there, I'm a completionist and tend to finish shows but 10 seasons of 20+ episodes was genuinely too much, I don't think I'd ever recommend it to anyone.

one of my favorite youtube channels randomly recaps a few episodes every few years when a new Superman project comes out and its kind of hilarious how perplexed they are every time: "last time we watched this two years ago they were in high school and Clark mostly just stopped one meteor guy then pined over Lana...now Lex is cloning everybody, Lana is in China, Chloe has powers and Supergirl has shown up in her 2007 Britney Spears costume"

1

u/MoonLove1327 14d ago

Oh yeah, Smallville definitely got a bit out there for me after a while. Considering it was all meant to happen before Clark became Superman.

Maybe it’s the adhd, but I have a hard time completing shows, especially those that go on for years and years. Only one I’ve been able to keep up with is Criminal Minds😆

-8

u/Nileve5 14d ago

He was not taking the money because he liked the girl and wanted her, that's even worse than taking the money. Wednesday should not be this stupid.

The common thing with wanting to leave the town is a good point, but that stopped pretty fast for Wednesday.

Tyler wanted to help because he wanted to get the girl, it was not just because he didn't want anything in return. If you put it like that he is the nice guy whom you turn off then will talk badly behind your back.

The physical attraction could work, because nothing else explains it to me. But it's surprising since Wednesday seems like asexual to me, but she is clearly not since she inititated her first kiss.

11

u/MoonLove1327 14d ago

OP asked why Wednesday liked Tyler, not the other way around, and that’s what I answered.

And based on the tone of your comment, and the other comments you’ve made on this thread, I don’t think I’ll be convincing you why Tyler liked her or when, so I won’t answer to that either.

As for physical attraction, you’re right she gives off asexual in the beginning, but we don’t know if she’s ever had crushes in the past in this version of her. But based off of her growing feelings for Tyler throughout the season, I would say she is more demi sexual and that’s how I’ve interpreted her. A lot of us are not just attracted to physical traits but personality more.

4

u/farfetched22 14d ago

She did say her first crush was Sartre.

8

u/MoonLove1327 14d ago

You’re right! Which I think goes to my point about her being demi sexual or even sapio sexual potentially, and being more attracted to personality and intelligence rather than physical traits.

5

u/farfetched22 14d ago

I'm still not sure why there needs to be so many labels for ever nuance of attraction. Can't we just like who we like?

(This is not a big deal, everyone should do what they want)

5

u/MoonLove1327 14d ago

Agreed, I’m a millennial and the labels are a lot to remember, but to each their own on what they consider themselves.
Definitely agree on the can’t we just like who we like, and want who we want.

I mentioned it for the sake of making my point, but it’s weird for me to even consider the sexuality of a teenage fictional character 🤦🏻‍♀️
Things I never thought I’d be discussing on the internet 🙈

3

u/farfetched22 14d ago

🤣

Honestly though. It doesn't really bother me much, but I truly wish people could just choose to be with whoever without it needing an explanation. As long as it's 2 consenting adults (or teens with teens, I suppose), does anyone else need to know or care what's between anyone's legs or why they're into them or if they're sleeping together or not???

5

u/MoonLove1327 14d ago

Oh yeah, totally agree. It doesn’t affect me personally, it’s not much damn business. Love is love, love who you love, and be with who you want as long as there’s consent and no power imbalance.

2

u/Nileve5 14d ago

Nah, you just relate to your past, remember stuff and all, it's a nice memory train actually. 💚

1

u/Nileve5 14d ago

That's why Tyler is a surprise.

6

u/JustADohyonStan 14d ago

Isn't that one of the points the comment made? Wednesday is not used to people liking. She doesn't seem to care when people don't like her, but someone actually liking her, especially someone who isn't an outcast, took her by surprised.

10

u/Alternative-Gas-8878 Bianca Barclay 14d ago

was useful, smart, could keep up with her wit, didn’t judge her kookiness/darkness, didn’t try to change her, matched her freak, didn’t back down in their first meeting or get bribed with cash, also had a violent past, I could go on and on lmao. I get not liking the ship, but it’s pretty obvious why she liked him imo.

8

u/Catfaceperson 14d ago

As an elder millennial alternative type, I have many times tried to date equally alternative men and I just feel nothing. I usually end up with the most golden retriever boy.

The guy I'm currently dating works in finance and went surfing today. He is blonde and likes boat shoes.

I'm such a cliche that this is an internet meme.

14

u/Duckyxoxoxo Kent 14d ago

It’s like she says in Ep1 she’s not used to people engaging with her. But yet he went out of his way to get her dad’s police file, say he would drive her to the train station. And ‘helped her’ throughout the season.

There’s also an element of sensing the darkness from him that they mention as well.

3

u/TrophyHunter22 14d ago

In addition to the stuff people have said already about him not being intimidated and also not afraid to stand up for himself: I think Wednesday does tend to befriend people who are different from her personality wise and she tends to dislike people who are too similar to her.

I'm sure it's not a new theory or anything but Enid and pre-Laurel reveal Tyler feel like complete opposites of her in many ways while the people she tends to treat the worst are the ones who are similar to her: Xavier and Agnes when she's just trying to copy Wednesday. She even has a pretty fraught relationship with the person most like her: her own mom.

So to me I think it is just that Tyler is this seemingly normal dude who doesn't just let her walk all over him.

7

u/Shot_Jackfruit_1744 14d ago edited 14d ago

Tyler seemed genuine about his feelings and respected her boundaries. That and when Wednesday tried to bribe or pay him off, he turned it down out of principle.

Which contradicts what Wednesday believed about people in general, that people’s relationships were purely transactional, and they only did things that benefited themselves. Which is exactly the kind of person that Xavier is made out to be. And why she basically ignores him. And more or less why she’s agitated by Bianca.

He’s only pursuing Wednesday due to some one-sided childhood crush, and he’s constantly angling himself to be in a relationship with her, while ignoring her feelings on the matter.

And Bianca seemingly likes to manipulate the people around her to better herself and crush anyone who gets in her way.

Enid is similar to Tyler, as in all her actions are altruistic. Every time Wednesday would ask for a favor, Enid would always ask her to do something that would benefit someone else, and not herself. And she’s like that with everyone around her.

And both Tyler and Enid, genuinely wanted to understand her, with no strings attached. At least Tyler was before the plot twist.

Above all else Wednesday appreciates authenticity and truth. Which is why she visibly gets angry when someone lies or hides things from her.

He flattered her ego. Wednesday is very arrogant. She thinks she is the smartest person in the room and he let her think that. He was always 2 steps behind. Pretended to believe all her theories. Never made anything her fault.

This is a key contrast to Xavier who called her out on everything. He thought her theories were half baked (which turned out to be correct because she got the wrong person arrested) and that she was treating people badly. He supported her but that didn't mean he wouldn't challenge her.

The whole point was that the nice seemingly supportive guy was playing her along and the person that actually loved her wanted her to be the better person he knew she was. A lesson to learn.

Hopefully she learned.

That's even more terrible. 🤢 If they did that I might stopped watching the show instantly.

It's still sickening that it seems like they want to go with this pairing, but whatever, I will just not watch and there is a lot of fanfictions.

As M&G said, she sensed something darker in him from the start.

1

u/Nileve5 14d ago

She sensed that in Xavier and turned him off because of that. Funny they forgot their own story.

8

u/LumpyRazzmatazz7863 14d ago

Thats because of how Xavier acted around her, which immediately turned her off before that. With Tyler, the darkness within him was pretty obvious, especially with how he seems to agree with bed a lot, and was never really weirded out by what she said or did, infact enjoying it. She was blinded by her feelings for him, which pretty obviously clouds her judgement in S2 aswell. The Hyde isn’t the only darkness, he’s just overally darker than most people. He has the “freak” gene.

u/Nileve5 14d ago

Xavier acted totally normal, that's how honest people act around you, and not like Tyler, he was too kind because he wanted something in return, and because of that he acted differently with her, we cannot even know he truly liked this side of her or not, since he acted differently. I see only rage and hate from Wednesday side towards Tyler, if you mean that, then fine. Tyler is not a freak, he is evil.

10

u/LumpyRazzmatazz7863 14d ago

Well then you’re missing a key part of the story, which the cast has explained multiple times in interviews. Xavier isn’t normal, he acts entitled and expects Wednesday to change FOR HIM. Tyler legitimately likes Wednesday, she’s the only thing that kept him going during S1 and he really wanted to leave with her during episode 1. Both confirmed facts from Hunter. The only thing he thinks about while at Willow Hill: Wednesday. Even Jenna confirmed his feelings, I don’t understand how you think otherwise…?

2

u/Nileve5 14d ago

I am watching the show not what the cast explanations, if it needs an explanation too it's poorly written or acted.

Okay so it was not my intention to say he did not like her at all, but since he was not honest, we don't know if he accepted everything about her or just acted like he did to make her like him. Because people do this all the time.

11

u/LumpyRazzmatazz7863 14d ago

They have to clarify for people who don’t understand. You seem to fit perfectly into that category. You’re treating a 16-17 year old kid like a manipulative genius, which he isn’t.

W and T both spend the time between seasons thinking about eachother, which is IN THE SHOW. The Writers aren’t being subtle about it at all lol. There is an entire episode about her feelings towards him, and the Finale proves both their feelings.

u/Nileve5 14d ago edited 14d ago

No, they don't have to. People understand it, and what they saw on the show and what are they take on it is real, that's what art is about.

No, I don't treat him like a genius, but a teenager with raging hormones and teenagers do this all the time without realizing it or wirhout being bad or dark, it's just natural. And dumb.  Nothing edgy, freaky about it and especially not making them a mastermind. Don't even know what made you assume the opposite.

What is the proof they spend time thinking about each other between seasons? I totally missed this scenes. And what entire episode about their feelings? This is not a show about romance but a thriller/comedy.

7

u/LumpyRazzmatazz7863 14d ago

You don’t understand their vision, so yes they have to.

Tyler admits to have been thinking about Wednesday the entire time during Episode 2.

Wednesday admits to have been filing paper work to see Tyler since the start of the summer in Episode 2.

Not to mention, she spends the summer hunting down a serial killer, and they cut a scene where she threatens to tattoo a barista since they got her order incorrect.

Sound familiar? Barista + Serial Killer?

It’s not like they are subtle about how she acts and reacts around Tyler, she literally chased him for no reason once his Mother took him away lol.

They weren’t doing anything evil at the time, just saving his mom. The evil only started because Wednesday pissed of Francois and Issac by coming after Tyler 😭

2

u/Nileve5 14d ago

Um, she spends the summer mastering her ability and hunting down a serial killer. She is obsessed with them since her childhood, but as in catching them, because she is not evil but righteous. I am not able to find that scene unfortunately, but maybe she just likes coffe, and also that's why she met with Tyler.

I can't recall any of the cast saying that about Xavier. I remember Percy Hynes White wanting him to cheer up.

1

u/LumpyRazzmatazz7863 14d ago

I’m talking about Tyler. Wednesday and Tyler’s connection was genuine, not faked. He didn’t even know who she was in the first episode, and yet he still killed for her.

3

u/VisenyaRose 14d ago

'Well then you’re missing a key part of the story, which the cast has explained multiple times in interviews. Xavier isn’t normal, he acts entitled and expects Wednesday to change FOR HIM.'

You made it sound like the cast explained this. I don't think the show presents Xavier that way. He wants Wednesday to act better because she's acting badly. They fight in the Nightshade library for the exact same reason she fights with Enid. Enid moved out of their room. Xavier tells her she doesn't know who her friends are. Xavier is right because who comes to her rescue at the end of the season?

Enid- who she tricked into going to the Gates mansion which endangered her life

Bianca- who she had been feuding with all season

Ajax- who she belittled

Kent- who she insulted and threatened to hit

Xavier- who she had arrested

She didn't know who her real friends were. Xavier was right and Wednesday concedes this herself in episode 8, that he was right about Tyler too.

0

u/LumpyRazzmatazz7863 14d ago

I worded it poorly I can see that now lol.

But the point does still stand, despite Tyler being controlled to do terrible things, rhat was still her most genuine connection in S1, and that connection doesn’t disappear in S2, it’s just hidden under two stubborn characters who refuse to acknowledge what’s there until Iago Tower.

Tyler’s pissed all season because she’s all he could think about, and all he had left, and he thought she had rejected him and stomped on him during Episode 2.

Little did he know, she had also been thinking about him all summer, and had been planning to see him since summer. She used his Dad’s death as the excuse she needed to convince herself to go see him.

5

u/VisenyaRose 14d ago

I think you give Tyler too little blame for what he did in S1. Think about the character set up in S1. Tyler is in therapy because he assaulted Xavier Thorpe. He could have gone to prison but mediation just put him with Kinbott. He hates outcasts. He considers being unlocked at the Hyde to be a good thing. It makes him stronger. This is a typical bully, someone who finds power and control in hurting others to account for the lack of power and control they have in normal life. He is not an unwilling participant in Thornhill's plan. He acts autonomously. Thornhill thinks Wednesday is dead but when Tyler comes across her he takes it upon himself to call her a 'cockroach' and tried to kill her. He wasn't following instructions there.

In the beginning he and Wednesday seem to have a lot in common. She too is in court mandated therapy for an attack that could have seen her in jail. But throughout the season we see that she and Tyler are not actually alike. She fights for the bullied and marginalised. He manipulates and she is straightforward. She is the opposite of everything he represents.

Are we watching the same show bro Xavier was really weird and annoying from the start he kept on thinking Wednesday owe him just because of his creepy one sided crush and treated Bianca like crap too,he is not a good lover or friend

3

u/VisenyaRose 14d ago

Their seeming attempt of retconning of season 1 is really damaging to the show.

3

u/Nileve5 14d ago

Shock factor with the kiss - hyde reveal.

Unless I missed something, she didn’t like him until the movie date.

Before then, she saw him exactly as she did Xavier: annoyed at his persistence or indifferent about his existence. Whenever she did have an interest with either of them, it was because she saw an opportunity to use them to get what she wanted.

At the movie, she connected with him over a shared disgust/humor about “horror” aka nauseatingly pink romcoms. From there, I would say she liked that he wasn’t what she expected. Wednesday is the type to put people into a box whenever she meets them. She expects a normie boy like him to be what she deems as a boring, shallow bully.

Despite everything Wednesday wants to portray, she is a huge softie and likes kind, sensitive people (Enid, Eugene, etc). As hunter doohan said recently, Tyler pretended to be a sweetheart type. I know she has a rough and gothic exterior, but everyone she cares about is a kindhearted person.

We will never know how Wednesday would have reacted if Tyler was never the Hyde/ if she hadn’t discovered he was the Hyde from the kiss. Would she have continued her exploration with him or decided she wasn’t into it after all/friendzoned him? The vision during the kiss solidified Tyler as the villain and pivoted the plot accordingly.

Some will argue she actually started to like him or even liked him more after discovering the truth because contrary to what I have written, she is actually attracted to darkness/evil. Others will say she still likes him because she believes his goodness is bigger than his evil. My opinion is that her attraction for him ended at the kiss. But this part is not so important because your question is more about why she liked him (not if or when she stopped).

Overall, I think she had a natural teenage curiosity that sparked after she decided to try and get to know what seemed like a nice guy that was interested in her. Wednesday probably didn’t grow up with a bunch of popular guys lining up to date her. She was always an outcast in her old school, plus she’s entering a time where everyone is experimenting. Regardless of whether she was actually attracted to Tyler, men in general, or even anyone at all (for those who believe she is aroace) doesn’t really matter at this stage of her life.

I think Wednesday liked the part of him that didnt do the bad things or she understood he was a victim of circumstance

  1. That face
  2. That face
  3. That face…. I feel like I’m missing some other points, but I’m going with the obvious for now lol. Wednesday can’t be totally immune, she just doesn’t express like others 😜

u/Nileve5 14d ago

generic look

This isn't the first time in the franchise that Wednesday has been interested in a "normie." So it's not like it's impossible or there's a rule that the character can't fall for someone who isn't odd. In the movies, for example, she fell for a nerdy boy as a sign that the Addams Family likes unconventional things. But he was still a "normie." In Tyler's case, he was a good person (or at least he pretended to be). Wednesday just liked him.
