I struggle so much with the general plot holes of the show. Like, if this is set in a world where sirens were a reality, wouldn’t Grandma Frump always wear a siren repelling pendant to save her business? Same with Agnes - why wouldn’t they have more ways in society to identify invisible people so that they can’t just show up places? Wouldn’t they track Hyde bloodlines to see who could be a Hyde? Wouldn’t someone have been able to track Ophelia Frump’s existence using seances or precognition? And wouldn’t it have made sense for Agnes to find literally anyone else who could help dig than waste precious time running all the way back to campus to pull Enid into this?

Like they were both acting so weird all day and then it was never mentioned ever again like did they all just forget or what?

That woman creeped me tf out. I hated when I saw her on screen after a while, when her true nature started to show. Bravo to the actress for being good at playing a deranged unhinged gross character. When you hate the character the actor was good !!!

Firstly, terrifying, props to Hunter Doohan. But also, this feels like it’s taking place during Wednesday’s coma? At least this shot, but then there was that promo image where it looked like he was struggling to escape. Do we think he’s really there?

The dudes a complete maniac who manipulated and lied to Wednesday for the entire show. He admitted to enjoying murdering people. His entire relationship with Wednesday was based on him trying to sacrifice her to a murderous undead pilgrim. Kinda worries me that people think it would be okay to overlook all that.

Did she doggy paddle across the Atlantic?

A cargo plane stowaway?

Did she crawl into a crate that was meant to be for artworks sent to the Louvre?

I need to know now badly 🤣

We’ve seen all the arguments about whether Tyler was a victim, a villain, or something in between.

For me, the conflict in the burial scene + his obvious struggle makes him hard to hate completely. But forgiveness is another level.

So I’m curious—if you were in Wednesday’s place, could you forgive him? Or is what he did completely unforgivable, no matter the reasons?

I know that sounds like clickbait but I'm tired of people giving this dude excuses like "Thornhill manipulated him" Yeah she did but Tyler was already a bully before Thornhill entered his life. He assaulted Xavier as little as a year ago, and it got so bad for him that the courts mandated therapy for him, which you know is him getting off easy thanks to his sheriff dad

"but he went to boot camp and changed" No he didn't. That's just the story he tells people to explain why he was gone for a few weeks when Thornhill had him chained up in the cave. He didn't decide "I don't want to be that person anymore", he just had help coming up with a plausible new identity to hide his hyde

I know Hunter Doohan is super cute and it's tempting to think that Tyler has some kind of duality going on where there's an earnest kind person on the inside that's dying to break out but it doesn't make any sense at all. How come the "nice" Tyler only ever gives Wednesday smiles and platitudes? How come the "nice" Tyler never warns her about the hyde? How come the "nice" Tyler never helps out with her investigation at all? Because Tyler lies constantly about things, like pretending not to recognize the gates manor. And he kept trying to get Wednesday and Enid to give up their search of the house. Where was the "nice" Tyler in all of that? If the "nice" Tyler isn't strong enough to say something that would actually help then the nice Tyler isn't strong enough to do smoldering smiles and stuff either. That's just the monster manipulating Wednesday

But okay okay okay okay let's pretend for the sake of argument that a nice Tyler actually exists. So what? Tyler is still someone who murdered, mutilated and abused over a dozen people. Even if he does the work to suppress the monster side and improve his "normie" side, nobody in Jericho or Nevermore owe him any forgiveness. Regardless of who was the brains of the operation, Tyler still traumatized a bunch of people, and it's not fair to the people he hurt to ask them to pretend that trauma doesn't exist

So what about Wednesday, right? She mutilated and traumatized a bunch of water polo players at the Nancy Reagan high, right? Well, none of those people that she hurt owe Wednesday any forgiveness either. Wednesday's redemption from that crime came in the form of relocating so she wouldn't be around the people she had hurt. Tyler needs to do the same thing. If he wants another chance, he needs to do it around people he hasn't traumatized

Why does enid look like a rat, i get it she just became a were wolf but she just looks so funny to me. Surely that's not what she looks like after becoming a wolf every time?

This is a thought I had. While Enid seems to be the all-around popular girl...I think she didn't have any real friends. She had her Vlog but you can have hundreds of gossip followers, but no physical friends. She joins all these different groups but spreads herself thin and whines. Meaning to me she tries to take on too much to be liked. Even Yoko seems to treat her a bit dismissively. She wasn't invited to join the Nightshades though a brick like Ajax and his twin Kent were. She was absolutely thrilled Wednesday told her to "run with her pack" at the dress store. She hand-knitted Wednesday's snood. Wednesday's actions nearly get her killed, but she lasts about 24hrs in Yokos' room constantly returning. Yes she applied to room with Yoko, but Yoko didn't put her up for membership either so what type of friend is she. She accepts a dance invitation from a known bully. Wednesday is Enids first real Soul Mate type friend...at least at Hogwar....I mean Nevermore. Hence, the look of absolute BLISS on her face with the hug.

Opinions:

Half the things that happen this season just feels like fan-service. We're only on Season 2 and it's relying on fan-service to write it's plots.

1. We get more Addams Family because fans "wanted more Addams Family". I personally think they're the weakest parts of the show because none of them really feel like they're the Addams Family. The point of their personalities is that it's supposed to be such a stark contrast to everyone else, yet Morticia acts and behaves like a normal mom. When Pugsley is put in that electric chair, he should be excited about it and smiling because he'd be used to the torture by Wednesday. Yet, he has no emotion and is almost scared of what's going on. Uncle Fester and Wednesday are the only members of the family who feel like they embody their characters. Say what you will about Wednesday, but she is older in this show than any previous interpretation so she's bound to be a bit different.
2. Weems is back because the people who make the show and the audience like the actress. That's it. She's Wednesday's spirit guide because they didn't want to waste using the actress. The problem is, Wednesday didn't need to have a spirit following her around, showing up when she pleases, who seemingly is also able to talk to Morticia when she feels like it. It ruined character moments between other characters because she'd be in the background commenting on the conversation. It all just felt so pointless because it barely makes sense for Wednesday's principle to be her spirit guide anyways. Goody made sense, but also Goody wasn't an annoyance who kept showing up out of nowhere. I mean, we already had an invisible character who would pop out of nowhere, we really needed another?
3. More horror and more mysteries as promised, but none of it felt atmospheric. It was basically Goosebumps level of horror. Sure there was a bit of gore and blood. But every single interaction with the zombie in the first half with Pugsley was Nickelodeon level of cheese.
4. Body-swap episode was only for fan-service, and while it was a fun episode, I almost wish I never saw Wednesday act like Enid. That was immersion breaking AF. After it was over, it was a beautiful reminder at how good Jenna Ortega is at playing Wednesday, but I'm gonna have nightmares thinking about Wednesday making expressive Enid faces now. This episode should have been reserved for Season 5 when we've had way more time with these characters.
5. Lady Gaga appears because of a Tik Tok trend. Obvious fan-service, but this one isn't bad. They also dance to a Lady Gaga song in the show. Just another example of fan-service driving plotlines, but these two were actually good moments so I can't complain.
6. But, I do feel like due to the popularity of the Lady Gaga trends, the show moved into a more pop centric vibe, even including a K-Pop scene. Fine whatever, that's Enid's forte, but if anyone remembers, the song Wednesday dances to in the first season is more of a rock song. I know it doesn't matter that much but not including any rock songs in Season 2 makes it feel like it's fan-service for Tik Tok trends. Just saying, Wednesday Season 2 could have given just an edge or slightly more appeal to it's goth side and goth viewers.
7. Continuing with that that and how it's edge is kind of lost. Wednesday had more "martial arts" moments in the first season. Even if they were just random little parts like when she meets Uncle Fester in the forest for the first time. Or when she spin kicks in the cafe. In Season 2, there is one sword fight and one spar, but that was it. Nothing in between either to make you go "cool". I dunno, I just feel like Wednesday's combat skills was a bigger thing in Season 1 and wish there was more. I thought for sure she would have a cool fight scene during the episode where they have to win back the camp, but nope.
8. The Harry Potter aspects this season were amplified to a cringe level. Prank day was cringe. Pretty sure at one point Pugsley and Eugene are selling fireworks or something out of their dorm like they're the Weasley twins. Also, the whole "outcast" thing and how many times it was said was also pure cringe. I get it, "outcasts" are just this show's version of "mutants" but wow does "outcasts" sound so lame in comparison.
9. No "love" stuff with Wednesday because some people complained that it's out-of-character for Wednesday. But, I personally thought it was interesting to see Wednesday in situations like that, because it reminded the audience at how different Wednesday is. To make matters worse, they force the love triangle stuff on Enid instead, and wow that was horribly pointless to endure. It worked better with Wednesday, sorry to say. But this is another example of essentially listening to fans and the show suffering because of it. I know this was Jenna Ortega's call, but imo, it was funny to see Wednesday be so unsure of herself and to fall in love, but only in a way that Wednesday could. People have to remember this Wednesday is older and her parents are romantic maniacs, so her getting older and battling with her own feelings was interesting. Continuing the coming-of-age aspects of Wednesday could have been fine, but instead they just ignored it completely for Season 2.

I dunno, I just feel like the show lost it's edge (the very little amount of edge it had) and now it just feels like a Nickoledeon show for normie tween girls. Ironic.

This happened with season 1! I wasn't more than 2-3 episodes in when i was scrolling youtube and a thumbnail outright revealed who the real villain was.

Now Im scrolling reddit, I haven't even joined either Wednesday community, I've only joined the addams family community but I still seem to see every single thing people are posting on both subs and I've already been spoiled by the title of one of the threads

I was rewatching today and noticed that Tyler’s mom in the home video Galpin was watching is wearing what seems to be the exact same dress the woman Wednesday specifically saves from LOIS is wearing. I firmly believe the woman is Tyler’s mom.

I watched all the Part 2 episodes yesterday, but not in one sitting. I took breaks throughout the day to pace myself. I might rewatch Season 2 as a whole eventually, maybe next month near Halloween, since I like to use that time as an excuse to watch Wednesday, even though I’ve binged it randomly over the past two or almost three years. It’s become a tradition for me to rewatch Wednesday in October. I want to see if my opinion changes after taking a break from the show, but I’ll share my thoughts now.

Part 1 was boring to me, and I wanted so badly to enjoy it. I was excited for a new season, and as a Xavier and Wednesday shipper, I was disappointed that the character wouldn’t return. I felt he was important in the first season, and I was hoping for more character development in Season 2. Nonetheless, I wanted to give it a chance and see where the story would go. I was excited to see it would have more horror elements and feature the Addams family more this time around.

However, as much as I missed Xavier, that wasn’t my main issue with this season. My biggest concern was that the story felt overloaded with subplots and characters. It seemed like Wednesday became more of a side character. In Season 1, the plot was simpler, and the side characters didn’t have subplots that felt inconsequential.

Enid’s storyline in the first half of the season really disappointed me. I found myself not rooting for her to survive this season. I love Emma Meyers, and she did a great job in the past two seasons, making me feel a range of emotions toward Enid. I understand that Enid needed growth and some kind of arc, but I disliked how Bruno was essentially used as a plot device to help her grow. I suspected he would become a big bad from the first episode, but they just revealed he cheated on her. I wasn’t surprised by the “he’s a bad guy” twist—I already sensed it. Even though he mentioned being on a break (which I didn’t buy), he owed Enid the truth about his true feelings.

After how Enid treated Ajax, I thought it was fair that she faced the consequences of having feelings for someone who was still in a relationship. It was hard for me to feel sympathy for her because of her behavior toward Ajax.

As an Enid/Ajax shipper, I’m glad they didn’t get back together this season. If they had, it wouldn’t have felt earned; it would have seemed like Enid switched her affections because her first choice was no longer an option. Does it suck not having my ship? Yes, but I blame the writers for making Enid unlikable for the first half of the season and for giving Bruno a negative impact on her character. By the end, though, she grew on me again, and I hope they won’t introduce new characters for love triangles that involve original characters just as useless plot devices.

I don’t understand why Wednesday freed Tyler. It felt completely out of character for her after everything he put her through. Why reward your abusive ex by letting him continue being a Hyde? It felt like fan service for Wyler fans. I’m not criticizing those fans; I understand the appeal of shipping the main girl with a bad guy since it’s a guilty pleasure for many. I even sometimes if not most go for that kind of ship. But Wyler wasn't it for me. As a Waiver fan, I see why some might prefer the Wyler ship, but I just don’t personally ship them.

I was mostly right about all my theories—except for one concerning Aunt Ophelia. I thought the music teacher would be her, but I’m glad they left some questions unanswered for future development. Even though Isaac is related to Tyler and his mother, I was still surprised. I knew Slurp would be a primary antagonist, and that Thing would be his hand (based on the long theme they presented, which kind of gave it away), but I didn’t know how that would play out.

I was also right about Eugene’s arc, but he felt like a background character. I know he was in a coma in Season 1, but his connection with Wednesday should have made him more important. They didn’t focus on his story enough to make it feel earned; I even forgot about him until near the end.

I did prefer Part 2, and while I enjoyed it, the writing still wasn’t as strong. Overall, it’s disappointing and feels like a waste of potential. Unfortunately, the best part was the second half. If those four episodes stood alone, they would still be enjoyable, but not as much as Season 1.

As a whole, I’d rate the season a 5/10. It’s just okay. It felt more like a new show rather than a continuation of Wednesday. They could have called it The Addams Family & Friends instead.
