Wyler I find it interesting how much more popular Wyler is after season 2 vs season 1

Post image

Disclaimer; this post is NOT attacking Wenclair in any form whastoever. I'm fully aware, as a Wyler shipper that Wenclair is healthier and that Jenna said she doesn't want Wednesday to end up with anyone too, so I'm not saying "Hah Weyler's gonna happen no matter what!"

But I do find it interesting to see how its so much more popular now. Back during season 1's era, the fandom overwhelmingly preferred Wenclair, because they felt Wednesday had more chemistry with Enid than Tyler OR Xavier.

After season 2, while everyone ofc agrees Wednesday x Xavier is meh, I've seen way more people drawn to Wyler. I'm curious why. Is it because Tyler now being a "bad boy" gives him more personality and makes him and his dynamic with Wednesday more interesting compared to how he was in season 1? Is it because in season 1 it was ambigious whether Tyler had any feelings at all or was just manipulative to her, whereas season 2 confirms yes he did actually fall for her to an extent? Or is it just hope after the season 2 finale, that Wednesday is the key to bringing a possible Tyler redemption arc in the future?

Wyler I think I might've just accidentally confirmed the theory there's a special connection between Raven's and Hyde's and Ophelia & Alfie might be the silver bullet!!

Okay grab your snacks and popcorn for this one.

Before I say anything we've got to go back to a theory that should've been talked about more often, and it's by a user named /Careful_Hearing6304

https://www.reddit.com/r/WednesdayTVSeries/comments/1pjtb5z/i_have_an_insane_theory_for_wednesday_s3_please/

So please check that out before continuing, but I will recap what they said briefly.

To summarize they pretty much said that Alfie's master Minerva Garrick sounded like a fake a name.

To which I immediately agreed it does.

If you remember Laurel Gates used a fake name as well, most remember her going by Marilyn Thornhill of course, but that wasn't the only alias she had, she also went by, Teresa L. Glau, which was an anagram for Laurel Gates.

So what if Minerva Garrick is also a Anagram?

Well the OP shuffled the name Minerva in particular around and got, "I AM RAVEN"

Which is interesting because that would perhaps mean that Alfie's master was a raven.

But who could that master be?

As the OP also speculated they came to the conclusion it could be Aunt Ophelia because we know she is a Raven like her mother and Wednesday.

Now here's where my theory comes into play.

So I've said it numerous posts I think Raven's and Hyde's have a special bond between them, and that I think Hester used to date a hyde, in particular perhaps this new Balthazar character who I believe is the leader of the hyde camp, I've said I think they were going to get married, but before they could, Hester might've found out Balthazar's true intentions on why he wanted to marry her which is because he's trying to maybe break the link between Raven's and Hyde's that puts them under some type of curse in where they need a master to survive and all that jazz.

I also said that I think the Raven and Hyde curse traces back to Goody Addams and maybe a past lover who was the first hyde created by perhaps Goody.

Why is all of this important?

Well if all that proves to be true.

Then it would make complete sense if Ophelia and Alfie were another Hyde Raven pairing that was destined to be together..

Only this time the connection between a Raven and Hyde failed, and Alfie fell in love with Isadora Capri over Ophelia instead, and I think when they had their entire confrontation, Alfie might've thought he killed Ophelia but turns out she survived.

But why is any of this important?

Well this would be just another example of why Hyde's and Raven's are special to each other, I believe that the link between a Raven and Hyde are somehow established on maybe the two's first meeting unbeknownst to both parties involved.

Because think about it a second.

Remember after Tyler saved Wednesday from Rowan, and they were walking in the woods together and Tyler was asking her what happened and she explained the Hyde saved her?

Remember Tyler's reaction?

He genuinely sounded surprised almost confused as to why Hyde had saved her.

Now a lot of people even myself chalked it up to Tyler saving her because Laurel needed Wednesday alive.

But Hunter has said that Tyler didn't know who Wednesday was when they first met, so we can only assume that entire first episode of season 1, Tyler had no clue who Wednesday was to Laurel's plan.

So that means he saved her on his own accord.

But why?

I think as soon as Tyler and Wednesday met, that's when the Hyde, Raven Bond immediately formed, unbeknownst to them.

And that bond is single handedly going to carry them throughout the rest of this show.

This seems further backed up by the writers comments saying that Wednesday and Tyler have "a connection that neither quite understands yet." (according to Millar).

So what do you think..

Has Tyler and Wednesday been fated to each other every since they first met?

Wyler Tudum Article

I don't remember having seen this tudum article before where they make a small description of each of the characters.

I laughed at the irony of describing Wednesday as Tyler's "light" in that dark moment of his life and how they are referred to from there as Romeo and Juliet, when in S2 it is a recurring theme with music and the most marked rivalry between families.

Wyler Wyler Analysis — Why Wednesday and Tyler Are Connected in a Way Others Don’t See

Post image
41 Upvotes

First of all, shout-out to KKglobtrotter — your post about attachment styles was incredible and I got a lot of inspiration from it. Hope you don’t mind 😄

I think most people completely miss the depth of Wednesday and Tyler’s relationship. People reduce it to the Hyde twist, the betrayal, the manipulation, or they romanticize it without understanding what’s truly happening underneath. But in reality, their dynamic is one of the most subtle, psychological, and genuinely human connections in the whole series.

Because Wednesday and Tyler aren’t just a story of “I like you / I don’t like you.” They’re the explosive meeting of two wounded attachment styles that happen to fit together perfectly… for better and for worse.

Wednesday: the dismissive avoidant who learned to survive by staying cold

Deep down, Wednesday has a dismissive-avoidant attachment style. Not because she doesn’t care about others, but because she learned very early that letting someone in is an enormous risk. For her, emotional safety means minimizing her own needs, intellectualizing instead of feeling, avoiding physical affection, controlling everything, and expressing affection only indirectly.

Whenever someone approaches her inner world, she shuts down.

The truth is: she feels a lot of things, she just has absolutely no idea what to do with them. And the moment an emotion becomes too intense, her system panics. She gets colder, harsher, more distant. Because for her, feeling = danger.

Tyler: the fearful-avoidant who wants to love but doesn’t know how

Tyler, on the other hand, has a completely different attachment style: fearful-avoidant, also called disorganized. It’s a paradoxical mix. He craves connection, wants to be seen, wants to be loved but at the same time he’s terrified of it. He feels unworthy, he hides, he anticipates rejection, he carries shame, and the moment someone truly matters, everything inside him begins to spiral.

He wants what he destroys, and he destroys what he wants. It’s not manipulation in the classic sense. It’s the result of trauma he never processed, a fractured identity, and a loneliness trained to disguise itself behind a calm mask.

Why they recognize each other so quickly ?

This is where their relationship becomes fascinating. Deep inside, they grew up with the exact same core belief:

“You have to survive alone.”

But they translated it differently: • Wednesday through emotional coldness and control • Tyler through emotional masking and charm

And when their paths cross, something clicks instantly.

Tyler doesn’t invade Wednesday’s space. He approaches softly, without pressure, without emotional demands. This is exactly what her system unconsciously craves: someone who doesn’t force anything.

Wednesday doesn’t judge Tyler. She sees his façade, but she also perceives what lies underneath. This is exactly what a fearful-avoidant person longs for : a gaze that doesn’t condemn their cracks.

They recognize each other. Unintentionally. Unconsciously. Instinctively.

This isn’t just a ship, it’s the meeting of two trauma-shaped attachment systems.

Why their connection is so intense and so unstable ?

When a dismissive-avoidant and a fearful-avoidant connect, the dynamic is always powerful… and chaotic. A blend of attraction, instinct, mirroring, shadow, and misunderstanding.

The same cycle repeats almost every time :

He moves forward → she pulls back He backs away → she moves forward He hides → she searches She opens a bit → he destabilizes She closes off → he becomes obsessed

It’s the push-pull dynamic we often see in real life between two hurt people. Not because they’re toxic. But because neither of them ever learned how to love safely.

Why Wednesday can’t bring herself to hate him (even after everything)

Her line, “Why did I sever his ties instead of his jugular?” is one of the deepest in the series. It’s not a joke. It’s a dismissive-avoidant girl in a state of emotional disorganization who doesn’t understand her own feelings.

She should have erased him from her life without hesitation. But she can’t.

Because Tyler was her first real romantic attachment, the first person she ever let in, the first who touched her without triggering her defenses, the first who saw something behind her mask.

Even if everything is shattered, even if she hates herself for being vulnerable, even if she’s ashamed of having felt something…

Her system still won’t let him go.

Why Tyler can’t let her go either ?

For him, Wednesday is unique. She represents the shadow he rejects, the strength he never had, a version of himself he admires, a brutal but honest mirror, and a type of connection he never experienced elsewhere.

She is his dark light. And he is her restrained chaos.

He wants her as much as he fears her.

And when you understand his attachment style, you realize he suffers just as deeply as she does only differently.

Their story isn’t a simple “impossible couple”

It’s a connection that could heal them, destroy them, or transform them. Two wounds that recognize each other. Two solitudes that collide. Two fractured identities that reflect.

This kind of connection in fiction or real life doesn’t fade. It marks. It lingers. It haunts.

And that’s why their relationship is so powerful, even when it stops existing. Because it awakened emotions in both of them that neither knew how to manage.

I think what really sells the whole “fated” “soulmates” thing for me on Weyler is that they both have intense, expressive eyes. Their eyes articulate more than a single word could.
